Tourist Bitten By King’s Guard Horse After Ignoring Warnings And Getting Too Close

A tourist in London learned the hard way that the King’s Guard horses are not just for show.

The King’s Guards have long been a beloved tourist attraction in London. Visitors eagerly arrive at the location to snap a photo for their travelogues with the impeccably dressed soldiers and their horses.

A video shared over the weekend by a TikTok account, Buska in The Park, captured the moment a woman received a bad chomp from one of the majestic horses.

Highlights
  • A tourist in London was bitten by a King’s Guard horse after ignoring warnings and getting too close.
  • The video showed visitors crowding the horse, prompting the animal to bite one tourist's arm.
  • The injured woman collapsed and received medical attention as armed police officers checked on her.
  • Many online comments blamed the woman for ignoring multiple warnings from the horse.

Buska in The Park’s video showed the must-see tourist attraction being crowded by visitors while the horse seemed clearly fed up with admirers inching closer for their photo ops.

Several tourists were captured taking turns and posing next to the imposing horse, triggering the animal to chomp hard on one of the tourists’ arms.

As the crowd gathered around her, the woman eventually collapsed to the ground and received medical attention.

The horse showed its not-too-glamorous side and served a hard bite to one of the tourists

A group of armed police officers were seen coming to check up on her after she fainted.

Some people online believed the group of tourists should have paid heed to the horse’s warnings.

“Four warnings that horse gave!” one said.

Another wrote, “Play stupid games win stupid prizes…”

“Its her own fault,” said one comment, while another quipped, “So the horse tries to bite you he misses, but then you go back in again that’s crazy!”

“There’s a souvenir to take home,” one joked.

It is a common sight to see tourists getting bitten by the horses at the must-see tourist attraction in London

“It honestly blows my mind that people can’t read, a horses, body language or signs that clearly state that they will bite potentially and not to touch the rain [sic]. When are people gonna learn regardless,” another wrote.

“It had already been nipping at people as a warning. plus there are signs everywhere. I feel bad she got hurt but it’s her own fault,” said yet another.

“I feel bad for the horses,” another said. “It’s become a stressful environment for them now.”

The spot also makes way for some heartwarming moments shared with the majestic four-legged animals

This incident isn’t exactly an isolated case. Despite clear warnings about the risks of horse kicks and bites, some tourists still give in to the temptation of getting as close as possible to the four-legged creatures.

Buska in The Park has shared several other videos of people getting bitten by horses after getting too close. Nevertheless, the scene still makes way for some tender moments shared between humans and the horses.

Who the f**k in the poll thinks the horse is to blame?! It doesn't want to be there, as a tourist attraction for a bunch of loud, rude, apparently illiterate fools who think this is what England is all about. For the sake of the animals, this needs to be stopped. Tourists shouldn't be able to get within 50 feet of the guard. Mounted or otherwise.

They didn't even need the sign. The horse had been nipping at people the entire time they were waiting their turn for the picture. Common sense says not to get close to the nippy horse.

My god, some people really lack common sense. There is a huge sign stating that horses may bite or kick- they are unpredictable animals that can get stressed just like humans. Almost as dumb as the tourists I saw trying to stick their hands in the boiling Geysir water in Iceland...

Some tourists that come to Europe seem to think it´s a kind of "Disneyland" or fairytale-themepark. Waltzing over here for a few days to absorb "everything" that makes a fashionable " I have been there "- photo. Ignoring signs and warnings, littering and crowding, so that people who live and work here have problems to freely move in their hometowns. I know that other places in the world are experiencing the same human "pollution" as well. But don´t forget that Europe is relatively small, compared to other regions and has some very delicate eco-systems ( e.g. the lagoons of Venice) that can only endure a certain amount of people. And after all, these are places of everyday life, homes and workplaces for many people. It´s not created for the fun and entertainment of others. Please treat the places and people that are your hosts with care and respect.

It could have been far worse, the horse may have lifted her up with his teeth and then given some shakes. People have been killed by a horse bite (imagine a full grown stallion biting a person's neck). I have zero compassion towards these stupid people doing extremely stupid things.

Last time I checked, that wasn't a petting zoo. So, it would seem to be common sense not to get too close to those horses. But as others said....she's FAFO. She deserved the bite. Maybe she'll learn to read the signs first before getting near a horse not meant to be closely interacted with by the general public.

What a twat! Looked like several members of her group attempted photos with the horse and got nipped at so she goes up to it anyway and gets bit. Tough for her. Why are people so dumb and entitled? Clearly that sweet horse was not good with all those idiots invading it's space. Just like Yellowstone Park with all the DMF's approaching wild animals and then being surprised when they get gored or mauled or bitten. If you're that ignorant to approach an animal of any type that you aren't familiar with, you deserve what you get. And her "fainting" afterwards? Stand down drama queen.

Bet the guard gives him an extra treat after that. She FAFO'd. We have had a spate of obnoxious Chinese tourists in the UK for a few years now-she appears to be one. Came up against some in Winchester last week totally blocking the pavement from passers by forcing them into a busy road over a bridge.

Something similar, can't recall where, a few weeks back. Tourist stands by horse, the horse gives tourist a nudge on her arm, not strong enough to dislodge a ripe apple from a tree, tourist dramatically throws herself to the floor and starts wailing.

What the absolute Benny Hill is WRONG with people? I didn't know that the adult illiteracy problem was so severe. Obviously the tourists can't read the posted sign. Or maybe somehow they believed that the sign just didn't apply to THEM. Do any of them ever think about how it would feel if groups of people walked up to them and put hands in THEIR faces? That horse did what a lot of us would do in that situation.

That horse is SO over all the tourists. It was obviously unhappy and snapped at several people. She was an idiot to approach it after that. Although as a life long horse owner I find it strange that they have aggressive horses out in public like that. I've never had or known (OK I knew one and we had to muzzle him around the kids. But he was a great riding horse) a horse that would actively try to bite anyone. MOST horses won't bite you unless they're threatened. And if I was sitting on a horse that kept trying to bite people I'd correct it. (By pulling back on the reins and telling it to quit that) Maybe the guards are not allowed to reprimand their horses? A horse that acts like that is trying to tell you they're not happy. Maybe this one needs a different job? It obviously hates being crowded. I feel the same way, maybe I need to start biting people who get too close. ;)

Those horses are there to defend. They are not there for the tourists’ pleasure and amusement. A docile horse that doesn’t react to a potential threat is not a very good soldier.

Horses are a******s. They can also be very loving, but you should probably work from an assumption that any unknown horse you are getting close to is an a*****e and will bite or kick if you are in range. If Princess Anne can end up in hospital from a horse on her estate doing something to her even after her *lifetime* of experience with horses, you definitely can.

Didn't even look like that hard of a bite to me, although it's hard to see her arm afterwards. She'll probably have nothing worse than a bruise after, if that. I can empathize with her - it was probably frightening, and even a "not that hard" bite can hurt - but I do not sympathize. She, along with all the people who posed before she did, completely ignored the nipping, the laid-back ears, and other signs that the horse was getting irritated. She was just the unlucky one when he hit his breaking point.

People lost all common sense these days. Horses are hard animals: hard to tame, hard to ride at, hard to keep in good health. They are easily scared, twitchy and can get stressed out in crowded places. They are meant to be in calm, quiet environment, constantly in move and with vast spaces. No wonder horse cramped in a gate, forced to stay still half a day is pissed. You can clearly see when people know how to handle horse - it allows pets and scratches.

Having trained horses for years, they do tend to give notice but occasionally one can be sneaky. People should not touch or get too near a horse without the rider's permission...PERIOD! Now this woman is getting all the publicity she wanted and the surprise she deserved. I feel bad for the horse though. It will probably be sent back for additional training.

Put a painted warning line around the horse and rider. Arrest anyone who touches or crosses it. It's long past time to put the horses to pasture and set a no-nonsense tank out to protect the king. I hope I never hear of a horse put down due to stupid people. A soldier can volunteer, but a horse is set up to be victimized.

Buska is great. The tourists are AWFUL. Grabbing the reins and ignoring the warnings. And after that they grin like it is a big joke. They need a wide area marked out around the horses that people are not allowed into, and NO TOUCHING. The worst thing here is that the horse is learning to bite to avoid being pestered by these awful people. That is not good.

It doesn’t like you….you don’t have a special bond with it and it doesn’t like being touched/groped/waved at by wankers all day for a picture that will go on your social media that no one really gives a s**t about.

Ceremonial Guards patrolling an empty building is designed to attract international tourists to boost the UK economy. Acting in a discriminative manner toward foreign visitors threatens this process. When a Royal Guard trod on - and broke - the foot of a US visiter outside Buckingham Palace - the MoD was found liable for Assault and the soldiers were withdrawn to positions behind the fence. Perhaps placing the sign in different languages might help. The MoD is responsible for the behaviour of all British Armed Forces (and their assets) - as well as the welfare of the civilian population when the two groups interact. Finally, since 1649, the UK has not possessed an absolute royal family - with the current Constitutional Royal Family possessing NO political or military power. The term "King's Guard" is purely honorary. In real life these soldiers operate tanks and similar armoured vehicles. Guard Duty is highly disciplined but is an extra skill learned outside of contemporary warfare.

Well, this is a first. Apparently suggesting that horses shouldn't be forced to work in conditions that leave them so distressed that they not only bite but do so frequently enough to warrant warning signs is so offensive that it actually gets deleted. I gather the only acceptable comment is c**p about how they're equine soldiers guarding the the king etc etc. rather than accepting that they are animals being placed under extreme stress for the sake of pageantry, and that the fault for that doesn't lie with the tourists.

Clearly that sweet horse was not good with all those idiots invading it's space. Just like Yellowstone Park with all the DMF's approaching wild animals and then being surprised when they get gored or mauled or bitten. I feel the same way, maybe I need to start biting people who get too close. ;)

This is a royal guard horse not a pony. 4 womens before her had almost been bitten ... Did she really thought it was all game and fun ?

Eff around and find out. Stupid human tricks. You wanna further crowd a *police* trained horse and rider already in a crows of tourists? Already with numerous signs the horse WILL bite you (esp if he feels trapped - like any animal, including humans). How does your entitlement feel now??

The fact that the horse is finely attuned to the rider and can sense what the rider wants the horse to do, is completely irrelevant.

I feel like the caretakers of the horse are partly at fault here, they shouldn’t be allowed so close for photo ops.
