Another fun fact; He drank all the alcohol he could get from his room, Spider-manned his way up the side and onto the deck, then grabbed a bunch of women and Hulk-ed them off the side. He was one of the only survivors, because his blood alcohol content was so high that the harsh environment literally could not kill him.

If alcohol helped him in any way, it's because it kept him calm. The fact that he wasn't panicking and burning energy but "calmly paddled around until dawn" did more for his survival than a bottle of brandy or two. The guy knew exactly what he needed to do.

There is a story of a submarine that sunk and guy got out survived. He was drunk as a skunk. They think it helped him not panic. No one believed it until the sub was found with the hatch open

In other grim news, I was told this is why many drunk drivers survive their accidents because when they crash they “rag doll” and are less likely to be injured whereas their passengers tense up and brace for impact. Don’t know how true it is but it does make sense.
