It's been less than 24 hours since the world learned about the passing of Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock & Roll, at the age of 83 in the comfort of her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland.

The iconic singer, who captured the hearts of many, including Elvis Presley himself, was known for her incredible musical talent and captivating stage presence. Unfortunately, in 2016, she received the diagnosis of intestinal cancer. A year later, she underwent a kidney transplant, which reportedly experienced frequent malfunctions. And yet, retirement and her turbulent health condition didn't stop the pop queen from producing a Tony-nominated Broadway musical 'Tina,' based on her own folktale-like story.

Following the death of the celebrated British author Martin Amis not even a week ago, the end of the force of nature that was Tina Turner produced a tectonic shift that has everyone from Barack Obama to Elton John grieving, filling "rivers deep and mountains high" with heartfelt tributes. “I’m a soul survivor,” Turner sang in her 1984 hit "I Might Have Been Queen." For all we know, she is and always has been a queen. May her legacy live on for generations to come.

One of the defining pop icons of the 1980s, Tina Turner, has passed away. She will be dearly missed

You said it, George. Actually, Tina said it. Simply the best, indeed!

Everyone has their favorite Tina Turner moment, depending on who you ask. From her surprising role in 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome' to her groundbreaking chart-topper "What's Love Got to Do With It," Anna Mae Bullock, better known as Tina Turner, left an indelible mark that resonated with fans worldwide.

Ms. Turner's musical journey started in her high-school days and spanned half a century. It all began when she lent her captivating, yet developing voice to the band called Kings of Rhythm, led by the enigmatic Ike Turner. Initially, Tina's appearances were sporadic, but her undeniable talent quickly propelled her to the forefront of the group, as well as into the arms of Mr. Turner himself - a partnership that turned out to be equally creative and abusive.

More than just a survivor. She climbed her adversity and built a throne on top of it.

Tina Turner was also famous for insisting on incorporating rock anthems from iconic bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones into the band's repertoire. This bold move catapulted her into uncharted territory, captivating an immense new audience. The Ike and Tina Turner Revue garnered their first Top 10 hit with Tina's rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary" in 1971, earning them a well-deserved Grammy Award for the best R&B vocal performance by a group.

However, it was the end of her tumultuous marriage and artistic collaboration with Ike Turner that truly propelled Tina Turner into stratospheric stardom. Although she faced challenges as a solo artist following her divorce, little did she know that her upcoming album, 'Private Dancer,' would help secure Turner's position as an everlasting legend in the world of music.

Mick Jagger learned how to dance by watching Turner, so to "move like Jagger" is to "move like Turner!"

...pretty sure you meant to say "beneficiary", Debbie. Not "benefactor." A lovely tribute.

I LOVED this song when it came out. Such a great energy on stage and so much complicity in that little pause before the guitar notes. You know exactly the moment I'm talking about.

There is a fascinating set of original session takes (1966) of "River Deep - Mountain High" with Phil Spector on Tina's blog here: https://tinaturnerblog.com/2011/05/28/ike-tina-river-deep-mountain-high-outtake/

I didn't know she was a mother. Or maybe I just don't remember that part of her life being talked about.

strangely (or not so), the "fierce" look here is less fierce than her unbridled joy in other photos...she was most powerful when letting that joy out. 💔💖

My initial comment as well. Sadly, we lose artists, musicians, athletes, actors, etc. regularly BUT, "This one hits hard."
