Twitter is a great platform to take a stance and make your statement for the world to hear. You have almost unprecedented freedom to say what you want, for better or worse. But be careful—the internet never forgets and what you say might come back to bite you in the ass.
Although it’s hard to keep track of everything you’ve said online, you should at least stick to your guns if you’re going to be so opinionated. Otherwise, someone might realize you’ve contradicted yourself and cast up a previous tweet asking, “Is this you?”
Serving up a slice of poetic justice is always delicious, and r/ThisYouComebacks is a community that shares all the juicy moments that people got handed it. We love a good comeback but “This You?” ones might just be a new favorite. Check out our top picks from the page and you’ll see what we mean.

Brilliant
I thought that it's not possible to be racist against yourself but here it is.
When Twitter first launched in 2006, its founder probably never realized the profound effect that it would have on society and our modern culture. With over 350M active users, it seems like everyone is using the platform—from the average Joe to US President Joe Biden.
Being able to write a few short sentences and send them off into the world in just a few clicks for everyone to see was unimaginable in the early days of the internet. And whilst anyone with an email address can sign up and start tweeting about what they like, the importance of thinking before you speak should always be considered on the site.

Load More Replies...What godis this guy talking about. He should specify, there are thousands of gods.
Some might consider that everyone, separated by the lack of the internet, called god by different names. Funny how most religions have the same basic message, "be nice to people".
Load More Replies...In Britain healthcare is one of the things we pay taxes for - healthcare for everyone, we've made it a right. Rights are established when people fight for them or campaign for them. Wait for God to give you rights and you'll wait forever
Yea how are those rights doing in Britain now days?? It seems you are pretty much cattle belonging to the Government

Rights do not come from God. Is he going to defend your right to free speech? to vote? to go where you want when you want?
Didn't Jesus heal people? Wasn't he from God? Christianity is so confusing.....
How is this a burn? He couldn't get in because no beds were available, not because he didn't have healthcare. Do more beds magically appear when you have universal healthcare?
No, they don't. Over the winter during the height of the pandemic, health care providers in Ontario, Canada were literally being told how to "triage" ICU patients - essentially who to let live and who to let die - because the ICUs were already over capacity.
Load More Replies...I just got off the night shift from my hospital, and it was busy all night. I register patients, and our back printer was broken, where I was at, so there was a lot of walking back and forth for paperwork.
How am I glad not to live in the US but in Germany, where nobody ever in politics or media mentions their fantasy sky being.
Really? “ Her father was a Lutheran pastor and she was raised according to the Protestant ethics. Merkel confesses that the Christian faith has a central role in her life. “Faith and religion are the basis on which I and many others see the sacred dignity of the human being. We see ourselves as the creation of God, and this guides our political actions. My faith in God makes many political decisions easier.””
Load More Replies...I'd rather have the healthcare system be a mess (which the USA's already is) than potentially go bankrupt from being in an accident/having cancer/etc.

Load More Replies...Are you seriously quoting Martin Luther on your user page? JFC. That's bad.
Load More Replies...The no-filter approach might be what makes the platform so popular, but it’s also the reason for many public figures to get canceled. For those still unfamiliar with the new use of the term, Dictionary.com defines ‘canceling’ or ‘cancel culture’ as: “withdrawing support for public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive.”
Although the millennial generation is known for being more aware of social issues and boycotting has been around forever, cancel culture itself has risen most dramatically at the end of the 2010s and has been weaponized in some ways.

"Dont Talk About Feelings"
Director James Gunn comes to mind as one person canceled in 2018 for his historical tweets. After joking about pedophilia and sexual assault in now-deleted tweets, he was promptly dropped from his position working with Disney who condemned his comments.
Gunn claims that the smear movement to cancel him was motivated by those who disagreed with his political comments. It was only after a public apology and a campaign from his peers that he was re-instated by the company to continue working together.

The Perpetrators Always Join The Bandwagon
Whilst Gunn’s comments can be chalked up to poor judgment and his supposed need to be provocative, it shows that are consequences for what’s been said online. But not for everyone on the platform. So, how far does Twitter go to censor its users, and do they do it all?
“Free expression is a human right–we believe that everyone has a voice, and the right to use it,” reads Twitter’s rules and policies. They say that their mission is to “give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information, and to express their opinions and beliefs without barriers”.

His statement is NOT a comment on Simone Biles' actions and the media that maliciously presented his words apologized for this, of course very discreetly, and Susan Sarandon (on Instagram) also sent him a public apology. He is obviously not sympathetic to many, and I can understand that, but he has never been malicious, especially when it comes to athletes, and this is another proof of how easily people follow the media and easily judge according to personal preferences!!!!!!
However, this is in accordance with their policies against hateful conduct, rather than allowing it. The rules explain further: “We are committed to combating abuse motivated by hatred, prejudice or intolerance, particularly abuse that seeks to silence the voices of those who have been historically marginalized. For this reason, we prohibit behavior that targets individuals with abuse based on protected category.”

I had a little bet with myself this Tori person would make the list: and I only know of her from this site. I get the feeling this is her life: inflammatory insensitive flip flop tweets 🤷♀️
So, Twitter relies on its users to govern each other and ensure that the platform meets its standards. Whilst it should go without saying that this is much needed in times of division, should every past comment be assessed with this in mind? Some would argue that it’s a necessity for keeping those in power in check.

It’s Not Cancel Culture When We Do It
huh...isn't Lebron James one of the best players in the NBA? Why would you want him to be expelled?
A recent study on the topic of cancel culture was completed by the Pew Research Center in the United States. Although not every piece of research was targeted with high-profile people in mind, the results looked at their respondents’ views of others posting questionable opinions online.
From over ten thousand people, 58% believed that calling out others on social media was more likely to hold people accountable for their actions. On the other hand, 38% said it was more likely to punish people who didn’t deserve it.

Interestingly, the results differ according to their respondents’ preferred political party. Those who identified as Democrats were more in favor of holding people accountable by calling out their actions than Republicans were. Conversely, a majority of 56% of Republicans believe that these actions are unfair and wrongly penalize people.

Right Wingers Are A Joke Lol Btw Her Tweets Were 17hrs Apart
These results could be in direct relation to the fiasco surrounding the Republican president Donald Trump. Known for his caustic statements on Twitter and seemingly tweeting out his every single thought, his access to the service was finally revoked and suspended after his comments were deemed to incite the 2021 Capitol Riot in Washington D.C. It also got him impeached for a second time.

In an official announcement, Twitter stated, “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them—specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter—we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

This article has helped me learn that any adult using the term 'woke' unironically, is a republican and/or hypocrite.
Hypocrisy is real. So are lies. But sometimes people do change their minds, for better or worse, thus, combining their old comments with new stuff might make them seem hypocritical as well.
This article really should be called ‘terrible people called out, but they don’t take notice because they’re terrible people after all’
All I can say is when it's time to vote this people out, show up and vote!
I like this kind of stuff, but I always wonder, do the exposers follow all these people's accounts, so they know when to expose them with an old tweet, or do they do research once the new tweet is posted, or like, how do they even get to see the new tweet if they dislike these people?
Politicians and the like, are the same all over the world. The playbook is often flaming irrational sentiments with sensationalist parabole to garner support against an imaginary threat. I don't know which is worse tbh, these insects or the pinheads voting them into power.
I'd love to cancel "cancel cultulre", bu tis that meta, ironic, or both?
Ah yes. Holding people accountable for their own hypocrisy is somehow 'woke' now. Snowflake.
