Have you seen Midnight in Paris? The movie is not about the city per se, rather it's about our fascination with it. Woody Allen asks us why the dream of Paris seems more powerful than walking on its streets.
However, it's not just historical European landmarks that infatuate our minds. That cause us to look at the world through an unrealistic lens. No, no, there are many more culprits — we're too easily swayed.
Last week, Redditor u/Buttercuppy44 asked other users, "What's something we need to stop normalizing?" And it turned out to be a discussion we really needed. People straight away came through with plenty of specific and accurate examples.

Having to respect a damaging point of view because it's part of someone's religion.
No, I don't have to respect your belief that women are inferior or that LGTBQ+ people shouldn't have rights because your religion tells you to believe that. It's a bad point of view.
Canceling people for things they did 10+ years ago. If someone has shown growth in that time then let them grow.
Coming to work sick. People tend to get praised for that, but they are in fact just endangering others to get sick as well — and in the end, it costs the company more than if they would've just stayed home.
Lot of time, the pressure to go to work come from the management side.
Being rude to retail and food workers. We work hard all day, deal with some of the worst customers bar none, and really don't get paid enough to support families but we do it anyway. For way less than it's worth

Taking pictures of strangers without their knowledge and posting it on the internet. It is toxic as hell and it wasn't that long ago it was seen as creepy.
It should be illegal. The last thing I want is for someone to take a photo of me and end up becoming a meme or something.
That anything is possible if you try hard enough. Don't get me wrong, a lot is possible, but not everything. There are factors beyond ourselves that determine our success. The best we can do is to give our best, and be happy that we've done so.
Hardwork doesn't always lead to success. A lot of people that became successful through "hard work" don't usually include one thing in their success stories: the role of luck. Some of them were lucky to be born in the right place, to the right people, at the right time, happened to go to the right school, happened to make the right friends, etc. For every success story, there are thousands and millions that did the same amount of hardwork and got nowhere. The difference is, those hardworking but unsuccessful people were simply unlucky. No one knows a sure formula for success in life. It's easy to think you do when you've made it.
People being bastards on the internet, because of anonymity.
The greed of the top 1% that fuels the pollution and decay of our planet.
Looking at you Jeff, Bill, and Mark
I'm going to get downvotes here, but you need to swap out Bill for Richard. Yes, Mr Gates has done some deplorable things while gaining his millions. But he has done philanthropic things that the others haven't even considered. Demonstrably tried to improve things for the rest of humanity. The others? No bathroom breaks and trains that barely run at all never mind on time. Oh, and I'm damn sure it wasn't his age that stopped him taking part in the Prick Space Race, so that's a point in his favour too. Dislike or full on loathe him all you want, but he is no longer in the same league of greed and evil as the others. (Mr Zuckerberg is in a league of his own, although he does look like he wants to be Bezos when he grows up, so...)
The idea that being an as*hole is a sign of intelligence. Jerks are rarely intelligent. Sheldon Cooper, Rick Sanchez, Hannibal Lecter, and Dr. House do not exist.
In my experience, being rude and condescending turns out to be a sign of stupidity, not intelligence.
Sheldon was actually very true to life for a lot of smart autistic people..but he would be what we would be without adapting skills. And most of us have adapted to our environment.. But he feels rather authentic. He isn't rude or condescending - he just doesn't understand most humans. That's why he follows the rules.. hot beverages for upset humans etc.
Having an opinion on everything.
It’s okay to look at something on the internet and think to yourself “I don’t have to care about this.”

Kids doing animal abuse. Stop it with, "they are just kids they don't know any better"
If it's too extreme, it's often a sign of a sadistic personality, so more reason to work on that early
The idea that a woman can slap a man if she's angry at him, but a man should never hit a woman regardless of the circumstances.
The former is assault - hitting people who aren't already involved in a physical altercation is never OK, regardless of the circumstances. The latter ties into that; if you are being attacked, the level of force you use in defence should be dependent on the danger you are in, which has almost nothing to do with the sex of your attacker.
Both of these rely on the tired and sexist trope that women are meek little does who have not the physical strength nor moral turpitude to commit violence against the big, strong, tough men. They normalize assault and abuse and accordingly belong in the dustbin of history.
Finally someone who adresses this! This double standard bothers me fir a long time. Also, some women who try to be "feminists" still keep this in check. If you want equal rights for men and women, that includes the downsides too
Bullying. It's absurd how society will frame it as a "stage of your life" rather than supporting individuals more so they know how to deal with it. Especially academically, still overlooked majorly.
Alcoholic moms. No, you don’t NEED to bring wine to your daughters soccer game. It’s not quirky. It’s awful. Wine mom stuff on social media only strengthens it and makes it more popular.
Instamom is the stuff if nightmares. Like the recent one where she jams on the brakes to teach her kid to buckle up. Full blown narcissism in action
Using mental illness as an excuse. I suffer from several, and it's very hard on me.. But, i get professional help and deal with it head on. Reading constant posts everyday about people having this disorder and that disorder and that's why it's ok to act a certain way is demotivating. Awareness is important, but dozens of posts everyday about having borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder and why it's acceptable for you to be an a-hole is not awareness... If you suffer from these so badly, please get help
Married couples disliking one another. Normalizing abusive and toxic elements in marriage is lame, bro.
Working while on vacation. You go on vacation to relax and enjoy yourself, not to try to fill out spreadsheets and deal with work stuff in your hotel room.

The entire "game" involved in modern dating or even most social interactions. The playing hard to get, the "arriving fashionably late" like people can we please keep it simple?
Ya go on laugh at me.
Unhealthy weight. I’m not talking about being fit and thin and making people feel bad about their bodies. Im not talking about having a few extra pounds and making people feel bad for that. I have a few extra pounds, I’m not super fit, but I’m relatively healthy. Everyone’s body is different. Healthy means a lot of different things.
I’m talking about normalizing morbidly obese people as beautiful and something to be celebrated. It’s dangerous especially if children see them as someone to look up to. Then they’ll think it’s ok for your body to carry around so much weight that your heart and lungs are working overtime to keep you alive. It will lead to devastating later years in life as you age and your body slows down. You’ll be at risk for cardiovascular issues, you’ll probably die before your time, and the last few years of your life will be bed ridden while you waste away.
While I agree that there is such a thing as unhealthy weight, you still won't see me attacking the "body positivity movement". Because for people to change for the better, the first step has to be letting go of the self-hatred and shame that plagues the seriously overweight and drives them into a self-destructive spiral of self-harming and self-comforting behavior. If the body positivity movement helps anyone let go of the guilt and self-hatred that's poisoned their lives then more good than harm has been done, and it's not like body negativity ever did anyone any good. You can't shame people into being thinner or healthier, that's not how humans work.

Degrees for office jobs that take almost no time to learn and usually have nothing to do with the degree anyways . So many people out there who can’t afford college but, are just as capable as anyone else.
Diamond and gemstones as gifts. They're shiny rocks with artificially inflated value. They're only expensive because people are willing to pay so much for them. If everyone stopped buying them, the price would fall faster than the Hindenburg. Or faster than the employment rate this year.
I'm always depressed by the "my ring has got to be the biggest" stories.
Cheating. Sooo many "love stories" on netflix, or just any sort of romance movie released these days have cheating involved in them so much. It's always branded as this romantic thing to do. Oooo like at this dark and brooding handsome guy with no personality. Time to f him and forget about my 2 year relationship, or some s*** like that. It's not romantic, it's just wrong, and it should not be normalised.
It's all a little more complicated, some people seem to think cheating is about as bad as it can get. But that being said, romance movies are actually the most messed up when you think about it
Unhealthily obese pets. You took a warrior and domesticated it! They aren't happy if they're fat! They just eat on instinct! Stop inadvertently hurting the beings that love us unconditionally!
The grind. Not taking vacation. Working on vacation. Working through your lunch break. Working early and late all the time. Answering emails after hours.
We are completely dispensable to the companies we work for. Don’t lose your life grinding for a company who only thinks of you as a number.
Over-consumption. This goes out to social media influencers who flaunt their hauls and influence people to buy things that they don't need. It will just add on to the landfills. Please, no one's benefitting from hoarding.
Toxic positivity. There’s a huge difference between being optimistic and having raised colored glasses on. We’re all people, and we all experience negative and positive emotions. The only way you can properly get over your emotions is by allowing yourself to feel them. Glossing over your emotions with an aura of “Everything’s fine” isn’t going to solve anything, and it’s just gonna make you feel bad.
Failures in political leadership. I feel more and more we are becoming less critical of failed character in our leaders.
Student loans.
Education is getting more expensive by the day and the added burden on a student in paying back a student loan helps nobody.
Furthermore people encourage student loans as though the students are obligated to take them if they pursue higher studies. Pure nonsense.
Hating police. I've worked places that police don't go. You all don't know how good you have it.
I don't hate police in general, but I've had my arm and nearly my skull broken during the 2001 Genoa protests (unprovoked attack on peaceful protesters) and I was in the Diaz school raid (but luckily wasn't hurt as I was hiding in a closet). Sooo... there's good apples and bad apples... but the bad apples do a lot of damage as they are put in a position of power.
People always talk about "bad apples" as if they're isolated and their corruption doesn't touch the others - but remember, the maxim is: "One bad apple spoils the barrel". If there's a single corrupt or brutal police officer, his co-workers and supervisors aren't blameless.
Load More Replies...That's an ignorant statement because this totally depends on someones experiences with the police. Unfortunately location (country), skin colour and gender are of more influence on this experience than they should have at all.
I don't buy this "There are more good cops than bad cops" myth. If there are really more good cops than bad cops, the good cops would be able to clear the force of the bad cops. In reality good cops either shut up and look away or leave the force because they can't stand how other officers abuse their powers to bully people. And we all know about the stories of how superiors covered for bad cops overstepping their powers or being just racists or sexists.
You said it perfectly. The “good cops” either ignore or hide the bad behaviours, they are obviously not good.
Load More Replies...I dunno. It's a career that descended from punishment for drunkards, then slave patrols, then union busting. It's currently known for brutality, rampant bias, and prioritizing property over people. I don't hate police officers as humans. But I do definitely wonder about anyone drawn to that line of work.
This starts with distrust of the police because of bad experiences. The police needs to keep improving. There have been too many high profile cases recently of officers abusing their position of authority to commit truly heinous crimes. Part of the problem may be with recruitment - we can't get decent folk so we'll lower the bar, or be less vigilant vetting past behaviour because we need the numbers. Sadly, as with everything else, this comes down to money and government and corruption and power.
It's still pretty unfair though. That's like saying "it's okay for me to hate all men because I've had bad experiences with a few men in the past". Yes there are members of the police force that are awful, yes the system is awful and it protects those awful members, but that still doesn't give us free reign to hate on everyone that's part of it.
Load More Replies...I agree. Ever go into a bad neighborhood and see all the bars on the windows and gates on all the shops? They aren't there to keep the police out!
Maybe if we stopped normalising police incompetence, brutality, and corruption, people wouldn't *need* to normalise hating the police? Just a crazy thought. This mentality is essentially victim blaming, criticising people for being the victims of bad cops. When you have an industry that allows its employees to literally murder people without consequences, the problem is not with those who hate the murderers.
The hate of police comes from a real place though. I never hated police, until they busted my door down, put a gun to my husband's head and forced me to wake and strip my children naked so they could look for "signs of abuse" 4 1/2 hours after my toddler hit the 911 button on my phone (this was when phones had an emergency button that everyone pocket dialed). Now, I fear police. And since getting into the mental health and drug rehab fields, I learned to fear them more. Fear absolutely overlaps with hate. So, the hate, was earned!
Thank you for sharing your story, Sabrina. You're right: People who have never seen the dark side of law enforcement tend to wear rose-colored glasses.
Load More Replies...There is no career where everybody is good, none. Be it priests, doctors, engineers cops or anyone else, bad people will find their way into every walk of life. The upside is so will a lot of very good people.
Yeah, but a bad shoe salesman isn't going to kill you on the job, have a union of other shoe salesman protect them from consequences and outright *punish* any good shoe salesman from trying to stop the bad ones and a general culture that'll blame the victim for having the wrong feet in the first place. while putting shoe salesmen on a ridiculously high pedestal.
Load More Replies...I've lost all faith in the police in general 😔 I had an issue with my neighbour, which they dealt with well; now I'm being slandered and bullied online with dreadful racial slurs... And even though I gave them all his details, they won't do anything and victim-blamed and victim-shamed me.
I don't hate anyone, but I have encountered a few racist police who used their power to bully and abuse people with darker skin than theirs. Zero fairness involved.
Don't want problems with police? Stay on the right side of the law-- "protests" are people trying to provoke fights-- then they wanna cry when they succeed.
There are more good the bad cops. If your angry at this its because the truth does hurt. These good cops wonder every day if they will get to come home to their families at the end of their shift
Aww how sweet must it be to say “you don’t know how good you have it” from someone who doesn’t know how good they have it. Want to know why some places are copless it’s because once upon a time bad cops came bullied the community and the department as a whole either acted to late or did nothing at all Now what happens next is now your afraid of encountering the bad cop, paranoia spreads suddenly you lack the desire to want to call on a potential abuser. Then comes a d**k head who sees what’s happening and decides this is his new home to do what he wants. Some people join because they’re also d**k heads other join to prevent themselves from being a target In conclusion you can’t say “you’ll miss it when it’s gone” if they were never with you
The vast majority of crimes are not handled by police, are not prevented by police, and are in some cases exacerbated by police. The police and current 'justice' system are not a solution to the social problems that cause most crimes.
How come so many people get "I don;t hate the sinner...I hate the sin." but cannot wrap their frikkin heads around that HATING POLICE VIOLENCE is NOT hating police. Y'all are being willfully ignorant!!!!
I think you can acknowledge that the system is broken, and that officers should be held accountable, while at the same time realizing that hating someone simply because they're police doesn't solve anything either.
I have four relatives that are cops, I don't hate them or their profession, but I wish there was more accountability among law enforcement.
The police force is like any other organization with many members, some of them are going to be lousy human beings and that's a shame. But, in my experience, the people who claim to hate the police are usually the ones in trouble with them. I have nothing but heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the King County WA officers who did their utmost to catch my ex husband who was stalking & harassing my kids & I.
No, no, no! This is a sensitive topic that doesn't need to be generalized. We hate bad cops, racist, sexist cops. We also hate the "good" cops who protect the bad cops. But what we really hate are police unions that insist on qualified immunity and who buy politicians to go easy on them. We hate cops who think they are above the law.
Police are people too, they're sons daughters, girlfriends, wives, fathers' mothers. They have to follow protocol or they're out.
I only have a problem with the police who are bullies and abuse the privilege of the badge.
Don't hate "police" as a generality. That's nonsense. What any of us really hate is the normalization of violent or extreme bias within any institution. "Police" are good. Having an attitude within the force of "ha ha, they just brutalized a non-white individual because of a shiny cellphone... that person probably deserved it" is NOT good. THAT is what needs to be cleaned out.
Live in a dictatorship for some years, and learn how bad the police can be. (Or a simply shitty country, where there are some advantage of police, but they can punish you for anything and government does not care.) A well working state and a well working police is a good thing, i agree.
My interactions with police (& those who joined up) have been less than positive. Their job seems less about protecting and serving the public and more about protecting the powerful and a system of social inequality. Everyday you can seen the unequal way laws are applied depending on who you are, I don’t hate them but I don’t trust them in any way shape or form either.
They need an associate's degree and actual education on working with people in the community, not 12 weeks of firearm training.
I think most people don't hate police, they just hate corrupt police officers.
I don't hate police. I don't hate anyone. I don't like anyone, police included, who abuse their power.
The only policemen I hate are the people that think they can do anything they want because they are police officer and they only become an officer because they "get to hurt people" but the ones I've talked to are actually really nice
I don't think many people hate GOOD police. And it's crazy not to hate BAD ones. (And for the record, cops who don't stop bad cops or turn them in are also bad comes.)
There a whole thread on here from yesterday with a bunch of really nasty vile spouted about police and military. No, people do not know how good they have it until some warlord takes it away and offs you and your entire family. Go ahead though, say they are all evil and want power for protecting you.
Few bad apples gave them all a bad name again so many police officers are good hard working people who go out of there way to help you
Who go out of their way to help YOU, Laura. It's not like that for all of us.
Load More Replies...Yeah the next time you cry "Defund the Police" think about that the next time you need someone to run into an active shooting situation!!!
I don't hate police, but I do hate systemic racism and racial bias, and sorry not sorry, the numbers are right there in black and white (no pun intended). POC are disproportionately stopped, arrested, killed, etc. Add to that the fact that domestic abuse is 2 to 4 times more common among police, and, yeah... I know there are good cops, but there are enormous problems in law enforcement in general.
Yep. In the U.S., the stats are that Black men face a 1 in 1,000 risk of being killed (not just shot, killed) by a police officer. The risk for white men is 2.5 times that. Both are bad. All police brutality is bad. But Black people definitely bear the worst of it.
Load More Replies...Well then tell American cops to stop randomly murdering people of color for no reason.
…please don’t tell black Americans that being shot by the police is some kind of privilege.
I don't think anyone with a conscience would say that.
Load More Replies...Most people have no idea how hard the job is, they don’t care to know. Police officers save lives more than they take them. I am proud of the lives I saved and hate that most people who get involved in the system just don’t have the tools to deal with their overwhelming stressors. Law Enforcement has a history of abuse and disregard for the lives of others, that’s changing. It’s a slow change but badly needed. Of one were to research the history of law enforcement I think you would be shocked at what it once entailed
You know what else is hard going to war but even soldiers can't just kill someone with out a good reason and think about this how worse things was before everyone had a camera it took a news paper to show how blacks was getting beat by police in the 60s getting sprayed with fire hoses
Load More Replies...I don't hate the police. I hate that the police have let an honorable profession become so dishonorable. There's always been a Blue Line. The problem, at least in the U.S., is that more and more the various departments across the country purposely choose to hide the worst of their lot behind the Blue Line rather that expel them. They choose to let the cancer grow.
People often hate the police because the good ones turn a blind eye to the bad ones and their behavior. Clean out your ranks and rebrand yourselves back to the "protect and serve" type of community service.
I know every society needs police. But personally I’ve never needed them & I’ve made it 71 years so far.
“Y’all don’t know how good you have it” Sounds like a cop. When police start policing each other and showing some basic integrity AS A WHOLE, then they might start to earn the public’s trust and respect. (In the USA anyway) A 2 year degree and six months training to have license to kill for the next 25 years. Police in the US carry multiple weapons at all times.
Students overwhelmed by homework when it isn’t necessary. I’m excluding situations like when the workloads from classes are reasonable and happen to pile on one day or students who aren’t organized, etc. This whole thing is a grey area, but sleep, burnout, mental health exists.
A little coordination between teachers could solve this problem. I can remember the times where we had to do an assignment for English and an hour later our French teacher came up with a similar time consuming assignment. When we explained that that meant we had to choose which one we could do, he postponed the assignment for 2 weeks. But other teachers just said "Deal with it." It's education, teacher, we're not operating a multibillion dollar business with deadlines and targets here.
Not caring about education. So many people obviously didn't pay attention in elementary school and don't care about it.
Defining your personality by your illnesses/disabilities - both physical and mental. It's wonderful to educate the world and promote acceptance, but when it starts becoming the crutch you lean on to defend toxic behavior, it's a problem. I'm sick of depression and anxiety and chronic illness being treated as a "quirky personality trait" rather than real, life-altering issues. It makes people minimize your experience and think you're just exaggerating because "x tiktok star manages so why can't you?". Idk, man, maybe it's because these kinds of conditions manifest differently in each person, or *le gasp* social media isn't real. As a bonus: giving your two-cents on someone's health when you have no business doing so. I'll listen to my doctors, not your sudden need to plug health fads.
Totally agree. As a bipolar and clinical depression sufferer who was diagnosed about 30 years ago and heavily medicated since, the current 'trend' of people self-diagnosing these conditions drives me nuts. If people had actually experienced any serious mental health condition, believe me, they would go out of their way to NOT have these conditions! In my case, it's been a very long battle involving heaps of medication, psychiatrists, being locked in the loony bin a couple of times etc., that has been extremely difficult at times. More times than I can count, actually. Mental illness is not something to be ashamed of, but it's certainly not something you should wish on yourself. Life is hard enough!

YES! People who put clothes on animals, for any other reason than a coat for warmth, should take a bloody good look at themselves. Animals don't NEED to wear clothes, don't WANT to wear clothes and, certainly, don't WANT to participate in and cutesie wootsie games you're playing with them! Bullying intelligent people calling them nerds! We should praise them, not belittle them!
Criticizing things people can't change like their height, or their nose, or in the case of men, the size of their penis. Only one of these things have corrective surgery and it's far too costly for most people.
Unfair divorce decisions. Always should be 50:50 for everything, not what some wizened half senile fart if a judge thinks is fair. Giving the none working partner everything apart from the last 20% of the working partner's superannuation is not about fairness, it's vindictive and cruel.
Doing really toxic things and then brushing it off by saying some s**t about your zodiac sign. Stars and birthdays don’t give you permission to be a bitch
Some of these are oversimplifying some very complex concepts, or swinging the pendulum a little too far in the other direction 😕
I am getting really sick of all these "phobias" that are suddenly around. Just because some isn't attracted to you doesn't mean they hate you or what you represent. Grow up. If you can't, then you need a therapist.
Uh, phobias don´t just suddenly show up. They only show up after a traumatic event. As a person with a phobia, I can tell you it´s a legitimate mental disorder and it should be treated as such

Being mean to substitute teachers. When i walked in my French class the other day I had a sub and it was my two friends in that class who were acting out the most. One was holding his desk above his head, and the other flat out refused to do her work, saying she didn’t do her work anyway and would rather read Warriors (Wings of Fire is better honestly). The kids in front of me were playing video games, and ended up not getting their work done. And really just middle schoolers in general are terrible. There’s this one jerk on the bus who threatens people with his drumsticks, jumps on the seats when the bus is moving, and throws trash out the window. I confronted him about this, and the next day he tried to run me over on his bike. Fortunately though, he went to my neighbors house where they were playing football and he got hit right in crotch. He deserved it.
Subscriptions! Why is everything a subscription now? There are a lot of programs I would buy if they were purchases. But no one can afford twenty $30 subscriptions a month.
FACTORY FARMING. Torturing, slaughtering for profit and supporting corporations that do so for your gluttony is NOT YOUR RIGHT.
Promoting LGBTQ nonsence and unscientific beliefs + forcing them onto the socienty, especially children: that needs to stop. just stop with the propaganda already.
This seems to me to be a LOT of people complaining about other people who have different values. Maybe people her should stop and think about what others may think of them, Maybe Bored Panda should start of thread of what people LIKE about other people!
This whole topic is so whiny and gross. “Normal” for some is not normal for all. If you don’t like it, get over it and get on with your own business. If it’s something blatantly illegal, then if you see something, say something. Take some f-ing personal responsibility.
I think AITA-threads should stop. A onesided view, at best with honest intentions, usually only asking when they sure are NTA or totally out of their minds anyway, and a lot more than TA in the case in question - compared to the issues many people display there, the subject of these threads usually isn't even worth mentioning. Nothing is to gain out of that, but reassurance of the cheapest kind - either in people agreeing with one, or in people, generally being soooo bad that they even disagree. Worthless waste of time, every single one I read.
The wokeness and cancel culture and political correctness is getting out of hand and very confusing and subjects individuals to attack and abuse for having a different perspective. Also these tiktok trends that harm people!!! And the female body being the property of politics, that's disgusting.
It's been out of hand for thirty years or more. It'll burn itself out eventually, but until then, the "wokesters" will continue to be annoying as hell.

Animals are our companions, not our props!!!

I’ve seen multiple people online with “head mates” which is really just having split personalities. That is, in my experience, is usually a sign of mental illness. Get help!
I don't understand what you're saying. Are you saying LGBTQ have split personalities? I'm trying to get what you're saying. Can you elaborate more please?

There's a lot missing from this list: driving home drunk or even tipsy, hypocritical behavior, social media influencers, idolizing celebrities, the pharmaceutical business and the opioid issue, racism, ruining our planet.....soooo many things that we've become blind to.

Influencers, celebrities, professional athletes, the 1 percent and the kardaushebans wouldn't matter if people focused on more important things!! Unfortunately it's easy to get lost in the posts and not focus on your own life!! Unfortunately the uneducated is breeding faster then the people who are caring, intelligent, respectful and would actually enforce change. The negative attributes handed down these days is only getting worse!! The internet makes us notice everything but that's a good and bad thing!! In make us notice that certain people shouldn't have major focus on them but at the same time everyone wants to focus on them because it's m"entertaining"
Load More Replies...Fireworks are another one. They're toxic to produce, encourage global climate change, torture dogs and many veterans with combat related ptsd... But, you know, they're pretty, so why not light them off every time someone gets married, has a birthday, graduates, scores a goal, or has too much to drink...
How about shaming those who don't give a s**t about holidays or who have different holidays. I hate Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. I'm not Christian and have zero family worth spending time with. But I still get s**t for not celebrating and I still lose days of work (and pay) because companies close. But if I want to take time off for Beltane or Samhain (holidays that she very important to me) I'm given s**t for making things up and letting my colleagues down. Seriously?
