We often form opinions about others based on the words they say, the actions they take, even the clothes that they wear, and since it's impossible to see the world through their eyes, we have to be extra careful with our perceptions.

At least, that's the theory, which in practice can be really hard. So when Reddit user DolphinsR4evr made a post on the platform, asking everyone "What is something you have a hard time not judging people about?", many had something to share.

From littering to neglecting pets, here are the submissions that received the most attention.

"People With Enormously Obese Pets": 35 Things People Can't Help But Judge Others For Poor treatment of pets.

u/FirehawkLS1 added:

I see that often (I volunteer at our local shelter) and it really makes me angry seeing the people come in and just surrender the dog because they couldn't be bothered to put in the time and dedication. Dogs aren't a damn appliance. They are a living breathing being with feelings. There honestly should be a database that those people get added to that prevents them from ever having a dog in the future if that's the reason why they are surrendering a dog (or any other animal). And I get that there are legimate reasons for surrendering an animal (owner dies and surviving family cannot properly care for it, loss of housing and job, etc).

Someone’s lost an eye over it once. The baker used dowels to stabilize the cake, and when the persons face was smashed into the cake, the dowel went into their eye. No joke.

That's stupid and to some extent narcissistic. My mother used to push my head into the dessert after she said it smelled funny and then laughed really hard. Innocent in her eyes perhaps, but I find it bullying.

I will repeat this here - Husband and I did the wedding cake feeding, then ( unplanned) we each put a small dab of icing on each others nose as a sign of our joy and playfulness. Still total respect for each other.Marriage lasted over 40 yrs

What? I thought this b******t only happened at weddings. Now it’s spilled over to birthdays? If anyone tried to pull that one me at my birthday party, they would immediately leave my house—carried out feet first and in a body bag on a gurney. No jury would convict me, either.

Only Birthday cake prank I found acceptable was the candles that would not go out. Yes there was a bit more wax to pick off - but to me that is an innocent prank.

Never heard of this. Why would you do that? Then no one gets cake and that is a crime.

The root of the problem is people calling it a “tradition” when it’s a fad?

There was a women (don't know where from) who got a BB-8 cake for her b/day, family member or friend smashed he face into it and there was a wooden rod to support shape and it went into her eye. I'm sure she would of lost that eye.

To be honest I think I would just be amused if someone did this to me. However I don't eat cake so I have no stake in it being ruined 🤷‍♂️

You wouldn't be amused if it was done with a cake containing something hard enough to ruin an eye or break a tooth.

Here's a simple solution: when some ogre slams the birthday person's face into their cake, take them outside and slam their face into a steaming pile of dog kaka, in front of the whole neighborhood. The kids will get a kick out of it.

I kind of like the idea, but these days it is not easy to find dog kaka to use, cannot you make do with some mud?

As long as all parties agree to this I'm fine with it, but I would be LIVID if someone did this to me. I do not like it, I do not want it. We didn't even do this at our wedding because I think it's such a stupid tradition.

Thank god I haven't seen anyone do this irl. Some cakes, especially tiered ones, have straws/sticks in them to secure the layers, and it would HURT to have one shoved in your face (understatement).

This one makes me irrationally angry. It's just the naked, rude aggression these people have to do it, like they're so desperate to slam the birthday person's face into the cake. It's like when you see people in mob mentality situations. It bothers me less on paper, but see all the videos or people lunging like animals pisses me off.
