I wonder how many dumpster cats are actually strays that were left somewhere else or never had a home and got into the dumpster in search of food. Still not good but at least they may have had a chance before.

That's how I got my first puppy. We used to have a local dump ground here with back when I was 18. My dad was the one that had to go out and burn it out fill it in and get the next area prepared. He took me and my mom out there one day and he's like you got to help me we found five baby male pit bulls. We got them all to the car and my dad's like I still hear one we walked around and I found , They had put her under a cardboard box put a wooden box on top of that and threw burning tires on top. All the boys got adopted and I kept tiny. She was my girl for so many years. I miss her so much.

I kind of have the same feeling for 2000 pounds of meat thrown die to an inconvenient Date... The animals had no idea they are killed and processed to end up as trash.

While I agree 100% there are very limited resources for rehoming cats near me. Many individuals have lost jobs and homes and incomes and had to make very hard decisions about a pet vs people. No one takes on a pet and plans on having to choose between animal care or child care. I'm not saying it's right, but if it came down to it, you could be desperate too

If abandoned anywhere else, People probably would just leave them behind. Or the Cats would rum away on their own. This way People will go out of their way and rescue the Cats.

My brother works in the office of an informatic gear company. He's sometimes called to the warehouse to help when they need to throw out a lot of old things they no longer sell and the usual staff can't handle it all. They will throw hundreds of things in mint condition. Computer towers, screns, beamers, keyboards... Capitalism is absurd.

I have seen it to many times. Good tip invite your garbage team for a Christmas dinner and ask for their stories. You will Loose faith in humanity.

In fear of being sued, allergies, choking hazards. I used to work for a company that at the end of a day they would let shelters pick up left overs, then a few years later I went back to work for same company and we were no longer allowed to do that we could only throw it away in the bins.

There are some companies that will not allow you to sell returned or "damaged" products. The store I worked at had to destroy a lot of stuff or we'd lose our contract with the manufacturer/distributor. I once had to spend 4 hours with a sledgehammer making sure brand new wood, pellet, and gas stove parts were unusable before I threw them in a dumpster.

It’s also an insurance move for them to “claims” it rather than sell it for a discount or donate it.
