Caffè Florian
It is considered the oldest café in Europe and a symbol of Venice. It was opened on 29th December 1720 and right from the beginning, it’s had glittering clientele, such as Goldoni, Parini or Silvio Pellico. AND it used to be the only meeting place that admitted women, which explains why Casanova chose it as his hunting ground.
The Green Tree Distillery
The Green Tree Distillery was founded in 1518 in the little Czech town of Prostějov and it went through everything the modern history had to offer. It saw both the times of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the founding of the first, Czechoslovakian republic in 1918. This year it celebrates its 500 years’ anniversary.
Rathbornes
In Dublin in 1488, in times when life’s rituals were done by the soft glow of candlelight, Rathbornes company was here to supply people and make them feel safe both on streets and in houses. They developed new formulations of wax, moving from animal tallow to a special blend of beeswax and stearin during the industrial revolution.
Sean’s bar
The 1200-year-old-pub was established already in 900. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest pub in Ireland and it hasn’t changed for centuries, from the sawdust on the floor to the cannon ball decorations and open turf fire. It’s located in Irish Athlone, next door to a 12th century Athlone Castle. It was originally known as “Luain’s Inn”.
Stiftskeller St. Peter
It lies in Salzburg and is claimed to be the oldest inn in Central Europe, likely the oldest in Europe and perhaps the oldest existing restaurant in the world. Operating since 803, Christopher Columbus, Johann Georg Faust or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are said to have been served at the restaurant.
