I sat a cat for a neighbor and I was so afraid the cat had gotten out somehow because I could not find her. Just before they get home she walks by like everything was fine the entire time.

"I didn't authorize your vacation!"

Currently house sitting a neighbors cat. Spend 10 minutes with him 4 or 5 times a day, feed him and lock him indoors after 10:00PM to keep him safe from larger wildlife: dogs, mongooses & boar. He waits around for my attention all day, but come 10:00 he’s nowhere to be found. I moved it up to 9:00 and he ran & hid. Now I just go over around 10:00, shake the jar of treats and wait about 30 minutes for him to show up. From then on, it’s a battle of wits to get him indoors and secured. Rinse & repeat for the next ten days!!

Just watch the food bowl. On the day it happened to be empty, that cat became my best friend 😻

When my son and his wife bought a new house their cat hid for about 5days they looked everywhere no cat. She came out because she was hungry and they had never found her hideaway.

Once when I was away for 3 weeks (we had a live in cat sitter), my adored cat came running when he heard my voice then deliberately turned his back on me and refused to acknowledge me for an hour.

When my wife and returned to her parents' house after a two week vacation to pick up our dog, he greeted us as we were going up the front steps. Her parents said they didn't know how they were going to tell us he's been missing since the first day of our trip.

Our cat very selective who could see him while we have visitors. Event worse with sitters.

I had a cat that would hide from EVERYONE except me, my husband, and my husband's sister. Everyone else.....she was in the basement.

Ours is the same! Our house-"sitter" popped round twice a day and never saw the cat once. She knew there was a cat, because the food was eaten, never saw the cat. The cat tries to stop me going to work every morning by sitting on my clothes, climbing with my ties, sitting, purring and showing me how pretty she is. She waits patiently for me to come home. Hates everyone else!
