My name is Vera, I’m a New Zealand based Hungarian artist. Creating art feels like being lost in a haystack. I start with an idea that leads to a hundred more. When I begin, the final image isn’t in my mind yet, but there’s a very definite feeling.
Regardless of the medium, would it be drawing, poetry or painting, I focus on this feeling and let it flow onto the paper. There’s always music. When I paint, I paint rhythm or draw a tune. When I write poetry, I paint colours with words. We read the words but react to the meanings that lurk between the lines.
Words act like chords that musicians play, but their silent vibrations carry the message and make their listeners resonate with it. I find paintings work the same. Ziggy Stardust and The Little Prince carry very similar emotions – rock and roll alien angels visiting Earth then returning to their planet. Ashes to stardust, funk to funky.
