You never really know what the future holds, but if you watch The Simpsons closely, you might start to think that its creators have a Magic 8-Ball or something.
Throughout its 32 seasons, this iconic show has (accidentally) predicted how the coming days will look numerous times, and some of these guesses were surprisingly accurate too like Donald Trump’s presidency. Or Disney buying 20th Century Fox.
After the Biden - Haris inauguration, the show’s Nostradamus-like screenwriting has again captured the Internet’s attention.
The pair were elected after winning the presidential election in November 2020, but fans of The Simpsons are convinced Harris’ fate was decided even before then.

Kamala Harris Dress In Purple
I see you already found it in a below post. But for everybody else: it's 2000
Load More Replies...Perhaps Kamala is a Simpsons fan and chose her outfit (which is beautiful) as an inside joke to herself.
Kamala Harris probably did this as an extra "screw you" to Trump.
Ha, well blue makes sense, but the pearly ear-rings and necklace make it very spooky indeed.
Yes, the show did not have an animated version of Harris working alongside the president but in 2000, it aired an episode called Bart To The Future, in which Lisa becomes the first female President of the United States, inheriting the White House after — you guessed it — Donald Trump.
Harris is the first female ever to be the vice president of the United States, which is a milestone not so different from the one The Simpsons pitched. And, just like in the episode, her term begins after Trump's came to an end. But it was her choice of clothing at the inauguration ceremony that really got people talking about the connection between the two.
Tom Hanks
This thread is literally about The Simpsons....
Load More Replies...Purple for the suffragette movement was the inspiration for Karmela’s outfit and possibly for The Simpsons creators.
It’s the other way around...we copy the simpsons...Illuminati confirmed
Hey..Tom....you lost yours YEARS ago!...But you can keep dreaming.
In 2000, The Simpsons creators depicted Lisa wearing a grey top, a purple jacket, and what looked to be a pearl beaded necklace and earrings. Harris arrived at the Capitol looking nearly identical, with the only difference being her purple top.
Social media users quickly pointed out the eerie similarities, with some going as far as asking Harris if she took inspiration from Lisa's wardrobe choices.
As for why the showrunners chose Trump as the president in the first place, writer Dan Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter that, "It was a warning to America. And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."
Three-Eyed Fish
The iconic three-eyed fish was a symbol throughout The Simpsons of the massive pollution the town was facing and how badly it affects nature. Funnily (or sadly) enough, a similar fish was found in Argentina near a nuclear power plant.
I once caught a carp with no eyes in a river near a polluting grain plant. Water was cloudy, the fish didn't need eyes. Scary.
The Prediction Of Higgs Boson Or "God Particle"
Back in 2012, physicists confirmed the existence of the Higgs Boson also known as the "God particle". This scientific breakthrough helped explain how everything in the universe has mass. The discovery itself is amazing but what is even better is the fact that 14 years before this happened, Homer was illustrated in front of a blackboard with an equation that actually predicted the mass of the yet-to-be-discovered particle which basically means Homer was the first scientist to share any info on Higgs Boson.
Only without that crayon shoved up his nose... Unfortunately he shoved it right back in
Load More Replies...Well, the theory and math supporting the existence of such a particle has existed since way before 2012, It is after all named after Peter Higgs who proposed the theory back in the 1960's.
this calls for an investigation into the screen writers who create Simpsons. They know too much. BTW, what do they see as a good investment for this year?
To be fair: i'm 99,9% sure they were consulting with "science" people in pre-production
I think we may be thank'n Homer for many insights and innovations. What a guy?
Higgs was first predicted in the 1960s by Peter Higgs to explain how some particles get mass. Dr. Simon Singh, author The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets, says they "almost predicted the mass of the elementary particle," according to The Independent newspaper in Britain. “That equation predicts the mass of the Higgs boson” he said. “If you work it out, you get the mass of a Higgs boson that’s only a bit larger than the nano-mass of a Higgs boson”. It’s quite a coincidence but a coincidence none the same when you consider the writer of the episode, Ken Keeler, who holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Harvard University & has a master's degree from Stanford in electrical engineering. He certainly would have known of the Higgs particle prediction, so with that, it’s not that surprising ‘Homer’ would have come close to figuring out the mass of the Higgs Boson particle.
Donald Trump's Presidency
In 2000, 16 years before the actual announcement, The Simpsons had already predicted that Donald Trump will run for president and they even managed to predict that he will win. We still have time to see if Lisa's words hold true once Trump's presidency is over.
well... he added 1.4 TRILLION to the national debt so I think it hit the nail on the head, squarely. I mean what did the trumpsters expect? He, quite literally, bankrupted every, single business he ever owned including a casino. A Casino? That is a cash cow - how do you bankrupt a casino without massive mismanagement? People refuse to see what is staring them in the face.
To be fair, the 5 presidents before him also added 1.4 trillion or more to the national debt...
Load More Replies...DJT toyed publicly with the idea of running for President in 1988 & again, announcing it on Larry King Live in 1999. They simply included it as a joke. Not a prediction.
In NY Trump aired commercials for his presidential run in 2000
Load More Replies...Does Biden really look like that?? I thought trump was the yellow one...
Faulty Voting Machine
This one surprised many as The Simpsons managed to almost identically predict the future. Back in 2008, Homer was illustrated voting for Obama during the election but the vote automatically changing for Mitt Romney. 4 years later, the exact same thing happened in Pennsylvania where a faulty machine had to be removed because of changing people's votes for Mitt Romney.
If it is hidden then covering it up is truly pointless. Besides smacking of censorship. It isn't necessary and it's not for one person to decide what others can read.
Load More Replies...This was a reference to this happening in 2004 in Ohio with Kerry and Bush
Hey!! Ahem? Jill Stein!! Cheri Honkala! Green Party? Got that? GREEN PARTY!!!
You are the one disrespecting the democracy refusing to acept that your party just lost. How many judges need to reject the denounces from Trump until you believe it?
Load More Replies...Smartwatches
Back in 1995, The Simpsons showed one of their characters wearing a watch that you can also use as a phone. It took 20 years for the actual Apple Watch to be released.
Apple were possibly inspired by this episode. "Oooh! Good idea!" :-D I'm still waiting for the Family Guy light saber cheese slicer!
The Simpsons? No, The Jetsons and D**k Tracy had them in the 60ies. 1_O3NDD0pv...4-jpeg.jpg
The algorythm changed the name of Tracy hahaha :D
Load More Replies...Smart phone type watches were around as an idea long before The Simpsons. Penny from Inspector Gadget used one, and it wasn't a new idea then
We have to remember that this site is multi-generational and for some, their first brush with technology probably was Inspector Gadget.
Load More Replies...Took 13 years for the Samsung Gear Neo - which had the ability to take calls via bluetooth - to come out. Apple copied Samsung. Again.
In the 1950’s, (or maybe 1940’s) the comic strip D**k Tracy had phone watches.
Samsung was first with mobile in a watch, they release one in 1999. https://www.mobileindustryreview.com/2016/10/33860.html
White Tiger Attack
Back in 1993, The Simpsons mocked Siegfried & Roy by showing them getting mauled by their white tiger. The same thing happened in real life 10 years later.
I know!! They are wild ANIMALS, they should not be used as pets OR for entertainment.
Load More Replies...It came out later that the tiger was not trying to hurt him. It picked up on something that humans couldn't. Sigfried was having a stroke. The tiger was trying to get him off-stage, dragging him to the back. Unfortunately the only way it could do that was with it's teeth. Had it actually been trying to maul him there would have been way more damage and to many more areas of his body.
Disney Buying 20th Century Fox
Back in 1998, the creators of The Simpsons showed Homer creating the script. This script was produced by 20th Century Fox but in the episode, you can notice that there's a sign in front of the studio's headquarters that says "a division of Walt Disney Co." In fact, Disney did actually purchase 20th Century Fox for $52.4 billion 19 years later.
Disney had already taken over the world, what do you mean?
The Birth Of Autocorrect
In a 1994 episode, "Lisa on Ice", Dolph uses an Apple Newton - a digital assistant. When he tries to write ''Beat up Martin'', the machine changes it to "Eat up Martha" which could mark the very beginning of the now infamous autocorrect fails. With the official launch of autocorrect in 2005, it's been reported that the original employees fondly referred to this episode of The Simpsons when creating the actual product.
This isn't really a prediction, the Apple Newton handwriting recognition actually sucked. Nothing to do with autocorrect.
A lot of “Simpsons predicting the future” things are more like “Simpsons made a joke about a then-current thing and people these days don’t get it”

In one of their episodes, The Simpsons showed Milhouse betting on MIT professor Bengt Holmström to win the Nobel Prize. Surprisingly, he did win after 6 years.
Also a very possible prediction by consulting "science people" in pre-production, same as that formula. Like we can predict that prices of gasoline will rise in near future, right? It's to "what if", more like "when" prediction.
The circled name is Jagdish Bhagwati... But this discusses Bengt Holmstrom... Which is the name next to the circled one, so this is technically incorrect.
The Censorship Of Michelangelo's David
Residents of St. Petersburg were very unhappy when a replica of Michelangelo's David was placed in St. Anne’s Lutheran Church in central St. Petersburg. One woman has even written a letter asking for the sculpture to be censored. “How could you put this bloke without any trousers in the center of St Petersburg next to a school and church?” the woman wrote in a letter. In order to turn something negative into a positive, local authorities then started an initiative called "Dress David" where people voted on how the replica could be censored. There was an option "leave it as it is" and since this story happened back in 2016 and nobody talked about it ever since, there is a big chance that the sculpture remained uncensored although during the voting period, David was just covered in black tape. How rude!
Absolutely! I have a small replica of David in my house and I had to have a discussion with my mother about the difference between art and pornography. Although when my husband puts a Santa hat on him at Christmas somehow the line seems to blur a little for some reason...

Time and place for everything. We don't need naked men statues in public. IF a person chooses to see naked men they can go to the museum or online and those of us and our children won't have to be exposed so to speak.
Load More Replies...Funny how some people like to hide sexual differences from children, and others. instead of allowing to know what they suspect anyhow. Then the internet and we all know men and women are different. Who would of thought.

Inspiration, perhaps. But couldn't be exact or do the Madonna bra.
The Fall Of The World Trade Center
In a 2001 episode, "Chain Gang Johnny", the creators of Johnny Bravo managed to predict the tragic events of 9/11 and the fall of the Twin Towers. Given the fact that the episode aired just a few months before the actual disaster, many conspiracy theorists wonder: could it have been a subliminal message or a not-so-subtle warning? Well, it did say, "Coming soon", but we'll never know.
The Simpsons predicted the disaster way back in 1997 when the family plans a trip to New York. It's all fun until we notice the cover of the magazine that Lisa holds up as it eerily shows the Twin Towers next to a big number 9. Again, subliminal message? Honest prediction of 9/11? We'll leave it to the conspiracy theorists.
Wow. It really eerily does look like the cover says "new York 9 11.
You think that is creepy? Check out the X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. Their pilot episode aired on March 4, 2001 and involved the team stopping a rogue government group from hacking into an airplane and flying it into the World Trade Center. They managed to get control of the aircraft and turn it away from the towers at the last second.
Yall know the Twin Towers got bombed before 9/11, right? People seem to forget that.
but it said 9/11. The bombing didnt occur on september 11th of any year
Load More Replies...Ya know - I'm getting a distinct feeling that the creators of the Simpsons are time travelers and they are trying to warn us...
That Coming soon poster is only one building and looks more like a Die Hard unbranded poster.
The Human brain has evolved to find patterns EVERYWHERE, so this is a long-shot (:
911 is also an emergency number...thought it very ironic that the date used was 9-11
Political and scientific people watch too many old movies and think those old movies should be made 1984, soylent green, communism of Russian movie Dr.Zimbago(sorry can't remember spelling)
Horse Meat Scandal
In the 1994 episode of the "Simpsons", the lunch lady known as Doris was using "assorted horse parts" while preparing meals for high school students of Springfield Elementary. Then nine years after the episode aired, a huge scandal happened when Ireland's Food Safety Authority found horse DNA in over one-third of the beefburger samples from supermarkets and ready meals, and pork in 85% of them.
Didn't see that episode. Was it really for high school students at Springfield elementary? Because elementary school is not high school. Or am I missing something.
Everyone....Becca is clearly asking about the wording the title says "...for high school students at Springfield Elementary". Not whether the school is elsewhere or what Ireland Food Safety authority is and where they are. Or are there comments I cannot see people are referring to?
Load More Replies...Simpsons is a cartoon. Not something shown in a real classroom. Look again. It reads "In the 1994 episode of the "Simpsons", the lunch lady known as Doris was using "assorted horse parts" while preparing meals for high school students of Springfield Elementary. "
I am really unclear why eating horse meat is any worse than eating cow meat.
It probably isn't, the scandal was that it was labelled as beef when it turned out not to be
Load More Replies...What's so scandalous about using horse meat for human consumption? It's quite common in the Netherlands. You can buy it from any butcher and even order it online.
The scandal was: 1. It said beef not horse meat. 2. The meat was probably not "safe" for consumption because they weren't horses that were supposed to go into food but rather old race horses and so on

Five years before Apple announced the first iPod, The Simpsons already had an idea of what the invention would be like. Seen in an episode from 1996, the device closely resembles the first generation iPod not only in design but also in the purpose of communicating messages and music.
Nope! I have a 160G that I will protect with my life. Use it all the time.

Got Season 8 Plot Twist
Many were surprised that the unimaginable Game of Thrones Season 8 plot twist was actually already predicted by The Simpsons. I guess we should thank The Simpsons for the spoiler or you can thank us if you still didn't watch the last season and came to read this list.
I mean, dragons burning cities are traditionnaly part of the European folklore since at least the Middle Ages. That one was just luck.

The Shard Building In London
Another episode of the Simpsons, "Lisa's Wedding", predicted the iconic Shard Building in London 14 years before it was built. Looking back at the episode now, it's fascinating to see that not just the shape and look of the Shard is incredibly similar but also the location is the same.

The Ebola Virus
17 years before the actual outbreak of the Ebola virus, Marge was already illustrated by The Simpsons' creators giving a book to Bart. The title of the book reads "Curious George and the Ebola Virus".
Eh? Ebola has been around for years, this isn't predicting anything?
it has been around for years but the outbreak happened because of the carelessness of humans - always have to see what we can play with...COVID too....never consider the consequences of messing with Nature

Financial Crisis In Greece
In a 2012 episode, "Politically Inept With Homer Simpson", Homer appears as a guest on a news show. A headline flashes at the bottom of the screen: 'Europe puts Greece on eBay'. Even though Europe didn't actually sell a whole country online, three years later in 2015, Greece became the first developed country to enter a large scale debt crisis.
What's the second news line? Satan tweets? :D didn't that also had spot on?
