Serenity. I especially admire how the artist used color transitions and shading to unify the very busy and saturated tableau, and then rendered the dog as a cookie cutter flat white figure to make it the focal point of the picture that leads the eye into the explosion of color. Just brilliant!

Many years ago, my wife’s family had two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Samoyed that had some wolf in him. Naturally, he was named “Wolf.” When we would gather to sing Happy Birthday, Wolfie would join in with a high-pitched wooooo-woooooo-wooooo, his lips perfectly rounded in the size of a quarter. I’m not making this up, and this is the perfect picture for that memory.
