I honestly have no idea how you even tell whether someone's wearing a bra most of the time. And I don't care either. Do what you want, really, bras are s****y - especially when you've got huge melons like me, it gets painful to have the weight on your shoulders quickly, so I don't wear regular bras at all. Only sports tops below my regular clothes.

NTA. If your uncle and cousin have a problem with it then they are the problem. Time to stop policing and controlling women's bodies and put the responsibility back on men not to be creepy perverts.

While we are rightly appalled by the treatment of women in places like Afghanistan, it's worth considering how much we considerably sexualize and control women on that basis in "the west". A demand that any trace of one's breasts should be hidden isn't all that different from making them wear burkas. Also, it occurs to me that entire families (Dad, Grandma, Mom, kids) in Finland will have nude saunas together, yet somehow not be driven insane, become pedos, or be driven to r**e each other. Food for thought...

I remember being about 10 and starting to develop. I was being bullied by two "popular" girls at school. One of the things they bullied me about was my chest and they would tell me that I needed to tell my mom that I needed a training bra. I did tell my mom this and she replied, "What are you going to train them to do?"

"My house, my rules" must never overrule basic rights or freedoms, which include a woman's sovereignty over her body and appearance. For me, that includes the minutiae of her clothing.

It's weird that all of them were staring at her boobs when she was wearing a big shirt. I have always hated bras and don't wear them at home either. When I walk in my door my shoes come off as I head to my room to change I to either pj's or a gown. When I'm at the beach with my cousin it's on pretty much all day depending on what we're doing until we decide to get comfy for the night. We watch TV for awhile then she goes to her room and I go to mine. The only thing I can suggest to this girl is either a sports or sleep bra. I really wish I could find a sports bra to fit me.

I'm a mid 30s woman and it has to be really obvious for me to know if someone is wearing a bra or not, especially if they're wearing a hoodie. Either OOP is downplaying how obvious it was, or her family is weird. As an aside, I just found the first 100% comfortable bras of my life, and I can go all day without even having to make even the smallest readjustment, and I'm never going back to even sitting around the house without a bra after experiencing this level of comfort. That said, nobody else should care what someone else is wearing

I don't have an issue with the choice to wear or not wear a bra but given all the posts on BP abt setting & respecting boundaries, it's surprising that so many comments say "it's their house" is unacceptable - "they can't tell you what kind of underwear to wear." Some people don't allow shoes in their houses. Some don't allow cigarettes or d***s.Some don't allow animals.Some won't let a woman breastfeed except in private. Did everybody just want to blast the uncle & son for being pervs? As if they're the only males who look at breasts (or try to). Given the attitude of the wife & daughter, I wouldn't have been surprised to read they'd asked OP to leave. & Had I been OP I'd have left when they got obnoxious. OP is leaving something out. No way could they tell she wasn't wearing as bra if they aren't big and she was wearing a hoodie. She had to be wearing somethiing much more revealing or no one would have even noticed.

The last comment in the OP suggests to get a more comfortable bra from... Amazon. Why not go into an underwear shop on the high street and get properly measured by a trained fitter, and try on different options, feel the fabric, get professional advice on fit? Why just order online because someone else lucked out? Society has fallen.

So yall go to family members houses (not your own house) and immedately take your bra off and wear just sweaters? Thats... kind of weird tbh.

Unpopular opinion: our house, our rule. You stay in other ppl's house, you respect their rules. You're not gonna live there forever, wearing a bra for a few daya wouldn't hurt (also, find yourself some comfy bras).

I'll get downvoted, but regardless of size, boobs are noticeable without a bra as we jiggle. Plus, you are in someone else's house, and it really is their rules. You can apply this to anything. If you were asked to take your shoes off in someone else's home, would you argue the point? You may not like it, but it's a rule of the house. I have 2 dogs. They are allowed on the sofa. If someone came in and told me that they needed to move, they would be directed to the door.

The only thing that makes me lean towards NAH or a slight YTA is simply: it's their house and their rule. It's odd, it's a bit absurd, but it's not harmful. I never wear slippers, but my in laws want all guests to ewar slippers. I don't like wearing them, but it's their house so I do. I don't see this as any difference. It doesn't sound like she was forced to be there, she doesn't live there full time. She's a guest, so why not adhere to their rules?
