An American woman who became an internet sensation as a teen mom when she had a child at 14 just welcomed her second baby six years and a marriage later. She has continuously shed light on issues related to teenage pregnancy.

20-year-old Maddie Lambert-Crowley welcomed her baby son, Ryder James, on Thursday (28 March), weighing 7 lb 14 oz and measuring 20 inches, in addition to being a “beautiful beautiful boy,” according to the young mom’s announcement on her Instagram page.

Highlights
  • Maddie Lambert-Crowley, a teen mom who first had a child at 14, welcomed her second baby.
  • She married Randy Crowley in September last year, before welcoming their son.
  • Maddie faced significant backlash and judgment after her first pregnancy.

Maddie shares Ryder with her husband, Randy Crowley, whom she married in September last year, LadBible reported.

Thousands of people congratulated the influencer on social media, as an Instagram user wrote: “I’ve been on this journey with you since Everly was first born congratulations.”

Another person commented: “Oh my gosh Maddie he is perfect! Awe! Welcome to the world little Ryder!”

A separate person chimed in: “I’ve been keeping up with you since Ev was just a little baby, and I’m so so so happy for and your beautiful family.”

Maddie and Ryder announced their pregnancy news last year on YouTube, with the now mother-of-two saying: “My jaw hurts from smiling, we are having a baby.

“I’m so happy. I’m still kinda in shock. There is a kid in there.”

The Texas native earned media recognition for opening up about the challenges she faced when welcoming her first child, daughter Everly, at the age of 14 after becoming pregnant at the age of 13.

Maddie previously recalled: “I broke because I wasn’t used to the amount of hate I was getting.

“Just because I got pregnant I was this horrible person.

“So many people that I thought were my friends would talk behind my back and make fun of me.

“I became the laughingstock of everyone I knew.”

Maddie also opened up about the judgment that teen moms receive. She told Truly in a previous interview: “I’d always look down on teen moms if I’m being completely honest.

“I think that was just from a lack of knowing what it’s really like.

“Whenever you would see the media surrounding teen moms, you see the TV shows, and it’s just really negative and it shows a lot of drama.

“When I actually got pregnant, I was so scared of the reaction people were gonna give.

“I did get a lot of negative reactions, a lot of hate.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US teen birth rate (births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 19 years) has been declining since 1991.

Teen birth rates continued to decline from 17.4 per 1,000 females in 2018 to 16.7 per 1,000 females in 2019.

The CDC stated that the numbers indicated another record low for US teens and a decrease of 4% from 2018, as birth rates fell 7% for females aged 15 to 17 years and 4% for females aged 18 to 19 years.

Although reasons for the declines are not clear, evidence suggests these declines are due to more teens abstaining from sexual activity and more teens who are sexually active using birth control than in previous years, the CDC noted.

However, the national public health agency also mentioned that the US teen birth rate was still substantially higher than in other Western industrialized nations.

Alright, let's be honest. If a 13 years old is pregnant there is a good chance it's not by choice. If the mom decides to keep the baby (which is their choice), hating them is not going to do anything and the best people can do is support them. Teen mothers will have to go through enough hate in their families and in the street, they don't need internet to lash on them too. And many people will tell you that 13 is too young to have sex and again, we don't know if the mother wanted to have sex or not, and it's not our place to. I personally think 13 years old is a bit young to have sex but I fully understand the people who does. Many girls have their first period early (for me it was 9). So by 13 they are fully into puberty, with the hormones it implies, and the beginning of sexual desire (and many people doesn't wait to be 13 to began exploring their own bodies. So it is a bit young for me, but not unimaginable.

Unless you're saying that by definition all minors are incapable of consensual sex period, then it was by choice. The father of the baby was a few months older but relatively the same age as her, and they were dating at the time. They just weren't smart about protection, which being Texas is sadly understandable since sex ed down there is terrible. She's a popular YouTuber because of this event and her life is VERY well documented at this point.

I had my oldest son exactly a week after I turned 14, and didnt know I was pregnant until I was 7 months. I didnt recognize the changes in my body and because I had always been overweight that is all I thought it was. My mother worked a lot in multiple jobs to support us on her own, and I in no way blame her for the situation I put myself in. I do however blame the 20 year old man who took advantage of me during that time, but not in a forced way. Thank god for my mother who stood by me no matter what. She was threatened by the local police with jail time and us being taken from her if she reported the incident. This girl should be proud of herself, that with all the criticism she faced and I am sure very hard times, they got through it. Everyones circumstances are different but I hate to see young girls being bashed because they got pregnant young and the guy faces no backlash. I am not promoting any young person getting pregnant because its a hard road ahead. Happy she made it. And my son is over 30 now and so this happened to me during a time if was more frowned upon then it is now.

20 is young to have a kid for sure, but not insane like 14 is. Regardless, I'm proud of this momma for stepping up to the plate and being a responsible parent. I'm sure she had a ton of help with her first. Making the best out of an awful situation. Doesn't make the situation less awful, but she's better now for it.
