Tattoos are becoming more and more popular. It's probably harder to find a person with no tattoos than a person with them. Many people "get inked" because they find it beautiful or because they want to have a meaning, idea, or memory on their body forever.
Another reason that is often forgotten is getting tattoos to hide body imperfections, like scars or birthmarks. That is what this Vietnamese tattoo artist helps people with: feeling beautiful and happy in their bodies.
"My passion is all about tattooing over scars, burns, birthmarks, or any imperfections on the bodies. I believe that a well-done, beautifully constructed tattoo will not only change a person’s image but also lift their confidence and overcome insecurities," the artist told Bored Panda.

Was that a shark bite?!? Can't decide which is better, the survivor mark or the tatt
I am very interested in this I have been trying to find an artist to cover a big scar on my leg can I get more information about you 🙂
The tattoo artist, known as Ngoc on her social media, spends lots of time designing tattoos for people who want to hide their imperfections. It's not an easy task, because you have to pick the best shapes, colors, and placement for the tattoo to efficiently cover the spots up. The skin where wounds used to be is usually thicker or thinner than normal skin and is hard to work with.
The person's belly button looks like a butterfly cocoon hanging off of the heather!
By helping people cover up their wounds, scars, and other marks, Ngoc helps them forget past traumas, move away from bad memories, or just feel happy, confident, and comfortable in their bodies. She uses art to heal people's wounds outside and inside. Ngoc helped a woman whose stomach was disfigured after having three children. She gave her a beautiful flower tattoo.
If she would have slit vertically (correct way if trying to commit suicide) instead of horizontal, she probably wouldn't have been so lucky, that cut looks like it was deep.
Load More Replies...I love this! Ty for the idea. Hate to steal your idea but I might...
Tattooing requires a lot of experience, patience, and knowledge—especially complicated tattoos like these. Ngoc is a professional in this not-so-easy field. She has been tattooing over 10 years and makes sure that every tattoo she does is perfect, because fixing a tattoo is not so easy and can damage the skin even further.
There are many tattoo-related posts here on Bored Panda. If you like cats, check out these cat tattoo designs. If you want a good laugh, check out these people faceswapping with their tattoos.
I thought the exact same thing, I also thought maybe a bumblebee.
Load More Replies...I'll bat that woman feels a lot less self-conscious (and more confident in herself) with the tattoo covering what must have been a mark she carried since infancy.
True! Except I thought it was a man! Funny how we see different things :)
Load More Replies...They must feel a sense of relief. No more self-consciousness due to other's insensitivity. This is just a normal tattoo to the rest of the world.

I love how she incorporates the texture of the scars to give the design contours. AMAZING work!
I wonder if it was intentional or a perfect accident? It's beautiful!!!
Load More Replies...Wow, someone's surgeon must have been in a rush! How do you get sewed up this badly?
That feather is great. You would never know that this is a scarred area underneath.
Right? And I can only imagine it hurts like a b*tch for the person getting the tattoo...
Load More Replies...It's brilliant. I had no idea scarred skin could stand up to tattooing. Thought it would be too fragile?
It all depends on the scarring. Some scars don’t hold the ink and will lose some if not most of the colour. The biggest issue is that it is much more painful getting scar tissue tattooed.
Load More Replies...Wow! for this one It must be very painful to get it but it is well worth it in the end.
I would rather have something cute or pretty, unless this is a man....
Did I mention how beautiful it was after as well? Love the choice of colors!
I'm going to assume (and I know that's dangerous) this was from carrying and child for 9 months and perhaps, a complicated delivery aka c section? It was beautiful before, and it's beautiful now. I am all for whatever makes a person feel beautiful! That in itself is beautiful!
It's from losing A LOT of weight causing excess skin, which she obviously had removed and everything 'stapled' everything back together. Good for her on her weight loss and for having the funds to remove the excessive skin. A high kudos to her tattoo artist for doing such a beautiful job covering it up!
Load More Replies...Tissue removal surgery following significant weight loss...
WOW!! That scar is huge🥺 what kind of surgery would make a scar that long?!?
The mark itself already looked a bit like the body of a bee... the cover-up is pretty.
She turns potential pain into something the person can admire and be proud of.
I love the way these designs change the viewer's perspective away from the scarred areas.
I would have suggested a rocket launch, or a penis, but I guess that's why did not become a designer.
The idea was to camouflage the scarring and enhance the look, making the woman feel more comfortable in her body... don't think your ideas would have had the desired effect! 🐼
Load More Replies...I love the basic black and white tattoos. She has her own red coloring from scar/birthmark. Not sure what it is.
Load More Replies...It would be even more lovely if a few colors were subtlety added to or through the bird - like watercolor splotches... the red would be completely hidden/disguised that way. Just a thought. It's beautiful!
Load More Replies...Not all Women have "your" kind of booty, I'm sure hers suits her just fine.
Load More Replies...That's good, it suggests you never felt it was something you had to hide, and I'd agree with that.
Load More Replies...Beautiful. Better than the very skinny heather tattoo (similar scar and placement) - this one has a bit more breadth to it, so looks more balanced.
I agree. I have a large scar on my tummy, arcs around my belly button, from spine surgery. This tattoo would be lovely
Load More Replies...LOL! Just before scrolling down to this one, I was thinking I would have to have a horse tat!
Up voted you because, It's just an opinion, people! I do see it now that you point it out. However, I saw a horse running to the flames, a symbol of self sacrifice and courage
Load More Replies...Oof that probably hurt like hell. I think sternum tattoos are like the most painful
I don't know anything about tattoos, but a softer blue would be so much prettier.
Load More Replies...The design, the details, the genius involved in this tattoo, all are heart warming.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, but what about it do you find heartwarming? Not a jab, I'm just curious as to what I may be overlooking.
Load More Replies...Beautiful tatt but I don't think it's gonna last long. Watercolors are so pretty though
What do you mean by it being watercolors, and why doesn't it last very long?
Load More Replies...I like how strongly she textured the berries to de-emphasize the scar underneath.
I love all the colors she incorporated into the berries themselves. That detailing shows talent, creativity, patience and love.
The detail on that fish and the waves make this truly a work of art.
Pink Lotus? "The Pink Lotus Flower is often used to represent one’s pure passion and love of life. Ideals can include purifying the mind, body, and spirit after human suffering" (Borrowed from the web)
Am I the only one who wants to know the story behind the scars? Was this woman attacked by a shark? To me, the scars are just as beautiful as the tattoos, with their illustration of survival. Both are beautiful
I would assume they are either from some horrible animal attack or car accident. Could be any number of things. While the scars themselves are not necessarily as disfiguring as others, sometimes people want to get rid of things that remind them of a tragic event. Many scars are not visible on the outside of our bodies and sometimes cover ups are not to just look pretty but to remove the negative reminders and replace them with positive images.
Load More Replies...The whole effect of all the individual tattoos, when seen on the one person, are so lovely.
They missed a spot... I wonder why they didn't cover the one on her lower ribs? Maybe she'll be back for another session? Just curious.
It could be that the ribs are a very painful place to ink. Speaking from personal experience.
Load More Replies...Some tattoos clearly work better than others. Sadly, due to the colors used, from a distance that now looks like a big sore or inflamed area rather than the previous scar which was well faded.
I think maybe this tattoo is freshly done hence the redness and possible colour smear.
Load More Replies...Great job camouflaging that indented area by making it the flower's center.
Most of these tatts are magic. I kept wondering just how these people got such scars - surgery contributed to some, but others? Would love to see that story.
I'm thinking some of these look like burn scars, there's a couple self-harming scars, there's some surgical scars. I'm wondering if some of these are the result of abuse.
Load More Replies...I hope they got that area looked at by a doctor before tattooing all over it. It looks suspicious for melanoma.
A responsible tattooist wouldn’t tattoo over an obvious suspicious lesion, so hopefully the tattooist was responsible and the person actually got it checked or they knew the cause of a possible birthmark or scarring.
Load More Replies...Looks like a Nevus mole which needs to be monitored. Surprised anyone would tattoo over it...yikes.
Yes the fact that the hair is also darkly pigmented suggests a birth mark or mole.
Load More Replies...Oh my God. That has every hallmark of a melanoma. Tattooing it could get the "show" on the road a lot sooner. It looks pretty bad right now. Yikes!
Based on its irregular shape and multiple colors it isn't just merely a hairy mole. It's a classic melanoma.
Load More Replies...This does not look like any scar..more suspicious. Surely it would have been checked before tattooed?
Tattoo can be awesome it is all in the hand an skill of the artist they can be real mess or truly Magic and Beautiful. Congratulation is not enough here I can not vote all of it, is unique and BEAUTIFUL! With the Big Plus of Changing lives. Have a Great Day!
They don't recommend removal unless it changes shape and color. Check the subheading Should a Doctor Remove the Dysplastic Nevus to prevent Melanoma ? Please see below for article found at the National Institute of Cancer, a well known respected website https://www.cancer.gov/types/skin/moles-fact-sheet#what-does-a-common-mole-look-like
I thought the same thing to, I seen a policeman with same on his ankle tired out to be a sarcoma cancer 🤔
Incredible work The tattoo artist is awesome giving a life improvement every time I love them all Have a GREAT DAY!
You're a moron and need to know the "ABCD's" of mole ID.
Load More Replies...Love the 'simplicity' of this design... there is intricacy in the detail and the shading is sublime.
I actually thought her bellybutton was a tattoo of an eye lol.
Don't go to Belgium or France with this one... Chimay_3_b...f91ee3.jpg
It looks like many of these scars are from injuries or surgeries. In my opinion, these folks are survivors. These tats could be seen as celebration of their healing.
I had a lumpectomy a couple of years ago. Beforehand, I started looking at tattoos to cover it. But, I had an amazing surgeon who left me without any scar. At the risk of being graphic, he managed to cut into the areola and you can't even tell I had surgery. So, no tattoo.
Load More Replies...So many beautiful tattoos. I have a scar where I would like to get a tattoo but I am too chicken coz scar tissue hurts even more to tattoo.
Get your doctor to give you a prescription for EMLA cream. It's a topical anaesthetic that stops sensation in the area for two to three hours. I used it getting all of my ink, and it really works.
Load More Replies...I find scars beautiful and fascinating, but I know having them is very upsetting for some people. Ngoc has clearly changed so many lives with her amazing craft.
My scars are my story. I understand the need to be beautiful and these are but some of me thinks it's a shame to cover them.
Clearly the owners of these scars don't want to be reminded of the story or the scars. You can disagree and have your opinion, but as much as there's nothing shameful about having scars, there's also nothing shameful about covering them.
Load More Replies...I think they are creative and help a lot of people. But it's unnecessary if you're ok with your body.
these are so beautiful. i have tattoos and i have some major back scars from surgery and i can't imagine how painful it would be to tattoo over those. props to the sitters!
I'm not into scarification at all (shudder reaction). But the scars life gives you are battle scars to be worn with pride. That said, these are some beautiful tattoos
