If you've never heard of Tank Sinatra, the creator behind the Instagram powerhouse “Tank's Good News,” chances are you've been living on the Moon. Tank, whose real name is George Resch, is a prolific content creator who gained millions of followers on Instagram through meme creation and reposting hilarious content. "Tank's Good News" is one of Resch's projects where he only focuses on re-sharing positive, uplifting media to the general public. It turns out that Resch's own personal story helped serve as a kind of inspiration for the account.

Let’s All Tell Her Congratulations
Resch told Elite Daily that he struggled with sobriety more than a decade ago, before getting completely sober at the age of twenty-two. Now being thirty-eight, Resch recalls: "I would be frustrated that I wasn't positive, but I wasn't looking for anything to be positive [about], so it was a vicious downward cycle where I was unhappy and I looked for things to justify my unhappiness. When I got sober, I thought doing that would kill me. So, I felt like I needed to be positive to survive."
In 2017, Resch created Tank's Good News, the hugely successful project that stems from his frustration with the negativity of current news. “CNN, Fox... they've made a business out of creating a visceral reaction out of people but that reaction is fear, anxiety and negativity," he explained. He didn’t know there was a market for good news, yet said he knew “if I could make people feel good, they would come back."

The huge popularity of Tank's Good News reflects not only its creator's but our shared fatigue with what’s happening on the screens and media. The worst scenarios are bombarding us every day and it’s only fair we get fed up with it. To find out more about it, what this negative exposure does to our mental wellbeing and how can we be more resilient to it, we spoke with Dr. Lise Deguire, a clinical psychologist and author of award-winning memoir “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
Dr. Lise said that indeed many people report that their mood is negatively affected by the news. “Of course, the news itself tends to focus on negative occurrences. For example, the news will report on the terrible car accident that happened. They will not, of course, report on the thousands of people that safely drove that day. (Safe, happy occurrences are not usually considered news.) But, because the news focuses so much on negative events, it can make us feel that only bad things are happening in the world,” she explained.
The clinical psychologist added that the news often focuses on events that make us fearful, “because when we are afraid, we tend to think we need to keep watching the news.”

Mistaken Love Is Still Love
When asked what are psychological benefits to reducing the time you spend on social media and watching TV, Dr. Lise said that when her clients report anxiety, sadness or anger about the news, she often encourages them to limit their news/social media exposure. “Most of us can stay informed through a quick read of the headlines. Having the news on in the background, or checking Twitter all day, often distresses people because the news almost always focuses on scary negative events and ignores positive ones,” she explained.

The good news is that we can all learn to become more positive and resilient to negativity. “One way is to learn who or what makes us feel good, and who or what makes us feel bad. For example, my mood usually improves when I listen to music or go outside. My mood usually goes downhill when I stop exercising. All of us have activities that lift us up or bring us down.”
Dr. Lise also said that the more aware we can be, the better choices we can make. “Does it help you to dance? Write? Call a friend? Take a bath? See if you can figure out what is in your positivity 'toolbox,'" she suggested.

He got it passed, but the Republicans watered it down to it doesn't cover uninsured people and only applies to people on state-regulated insurance plans. Or put simply, only 16 percent of Texans actually benefit from the cap. I can't imagine living in a country where whether everyone has the right to access life-saving drugs cost-free is even up for DEBATE! It just doesn't sound credible to someone who lives in the developed world.
So, wrong again. The GOP wanted to make sure it went to citizens that needed it. Not illegal aliens. Meaning, our own citizens would get left behind. There is a NATIONAL bill to do this for all....but look it up in Congress dot gov. It was stalled by guess who.....Nancy Pelosi! Why do you lie? We can look it up. But most Democrats just follow CNN and blindly believe those lies. Gimme a break.
Load More Replies...Medication should not be a for profit business! Wake up USA and take care of your people
For profit is fine, drives innovation and competition, bringing prices down. It's the shareholder model of "greater profits now no matter what" that is the problem.
Load More Replies...The two doctors who 'invented' insulin sold the patent for $1 so it could be affordable to all. The US didn't get that memo.
While this is true it is about the pig insuline we used to have. But it had lots of very serious side issues. Modern insuline is made by genetically modified bacteria. Which isn't an excuse why it isn't affordable.
Load More Replies...I live in Sweden with Medicare for all. We also have a maximum cost for prescription meds of $268 in a 12 month period. After that my prescriptions are free to the end of the 12 month period when it restarts. I take a lot of prescription medication to keep me alive so it took 3 months to hit the maximum which means 9 months of completely free meds. Should work that way in the usa
Germany has medical insurance for all as well. Each prescription you receive costs €5, no matter what it is. If you're on a limited income and have a lot of prescriptions, the insurance company will even make sure you don't have to pay the charge. I used to work in a clinic where they specialized in medical tourism, people came from all over the world for surgery. Sometimes family members, who weren't insured needed meds or treatment. Insulin costs like €15 a pen here, the vails are even cheaper. People from the US were always shocked how cheap medical care is.
Load More Replies...I have an even better idea: let's all pay a fraction of a cent in taxes and make insulin free for all diabetics. Maybe we can agree to pay a whole few $$ more a year and make all life saving medications free for everybody that needs them? I would cut to the chase and make all medications free (at the point of sale), but I am sure there would be complaints from the "I don't want to pay for other people meds because if it doesn't affect me it's not my problem" crowd.
One single multi-million dollar US Airforce plane would cover the cost for most Americans. But that's not how our our tax dollars work.
Load More Replies...I wish he wasnt outnumbered by the awful politicians that will/ have blocked this
And the Conservative Americans are going to say "It's communism," American healthcare is so messed up, I hope people will one day realize that healthcare shouldn't be for profit and giving people things they need to live isn't communism.
those dumbbells clearly don't know how communism works
Load More Replies...Instead, why not try and educate those in government that healthcare is a right and not a privilege ?
Because the people in our government are wealthy, comfortable, and have access to anything they need or want, whenever they want it. In addition, they are given large amounts of money in "campaign contributions" by very wealthy corporate owners who pay them off to keep things at status quo. They don't care about the nation they are supposed to be serving.
Load More Replies...It would be great if we had a society that, in these circumstances, people decided that people were more important than obscene profit. And I'm a Capitalist unashamedly. Except for this. Insulin and many other drugs are simple and inexpensive to manufacture. There would be more than enough revenue to pay expenses and a decent profit at. I imagine, less than 5% of that $1000 a month. Sick that people never think through their actions or effect on others. Make a profit, pay for the expenses but be reasonable. Maybe even human. Don' f**k with someones life.
I am a type 1 diabetic as well, and I appreciate this a lot I was diagnosed when I was 6 and I was lucky because my glucose was around 450 but it could’ve been 500-600 so I’m glad
Me too! Diagnosed at 6, but I was 900+ 😰 (31 years ago)
Load More Replies...I just read about a man, early 30's, dying because he was rationing his insulin. Insulin cannot be rationed! And the high costs on medication that people need to live, should be illegal!!!!
Before the introduction of synthetic injectable insulin, we had bovine and porcine produced insulin. The cost was almost negligible. Now with only synthetic insulin available, the profiteers have cornered the market and people are paying the ultimate price for their greed. These pharmaceutical companies need to be charged with genocide.
It's sad that so many STILL have to come to Canada to buy Insulin. America needs to stop throwing money to Nasa and military and take care of its own damn people medically
I agree, but NASA's budget is minuscule compared to the US military and a lot of their work benefits society at large. I am not sure why you bundled the two. One is a civilian organization, the other isn't. Even for the military, there is a certain logic, it's just that the US outspends the next 5 most powerful nations in military spending.
Load More Replies...I absolutely love this. My dad is a type one diabetic and has been since he was four years old. Even though he worked in oil and gas, which is a profitable job, we still didn't have a lot of money because insulin and other diabetes medical equipment was so expensive. This is my favorite post.
I don't have diabetes, but even I agree with this! You can get a Tylenol for less than five dollars, but you have to pay an arm and a leg for something you need to leave? It's ridiculous.
Life saving meds should only be allowed to have a small mark up. The drug companies make plenty on other drugs!
Wow! I remember reading an awful story 6 years ago about a 17 year old girl who had type 1 and needed to be on an insulin pump and their insurance wasn't covering enough of it and the family couldn't afford it. One day her blood sugar dropped while in the bathroom and she could barely move and was able to dial her gmas number but couldn't speak, thankfully her gma wasn't too far away and was able to get to her with some sugar cubes. That story bothered me so much, it's not right for anyone to go without essential medication. I worked in medical billing for a short time and it is disgusting the cost and especially insurance companies doing everything they could not to pay. I was definitely a thorn in their sides and the doctor's because I would send stuff back for code reviews so that I wouldn't have to send a bill to a patient. It was a depressing because I couldn't help everyone, so I went on to work on the clinical side.
Unfortunately, it takes a person who has been forced to pay outrageous prices just to stay alive to introduce legislation to force pharma companies to do the right thing. I'm glad Talarico is doing this, but it sucks that he has to.
It was invented by Canadians who sold the patent to the University of Toronto for $1 each. They chose not to profit off of it because saving lives was more important. It makes me so angry that people profit off of it now and people are dying because of it.
When I was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid, I was so pleased that all my prescriptions would be free. At that time, in the UK, you had to pay c£5 for each item on your prescription. For those that don't know, like diabetes, hypothryroidism is a lifetime condition which affects the way the whole body functions. I cannot conceive how we would have afforded my meds had we lived elsewhere.
The US for-profit healthcare system is horrible. Anyone that needs continuous supplies of medication for life should consider moving to almost any other developed country.
I honestly don’t know why this isn’t free. In the U.K. if you are diabetic then ALL your medication is free. (Mind you, we can buy a prepayment card and you can get all your medication for £10 a month if you aren’t diabetic and don’t qualify for free medicine for other reasons) . It must be terrifying to be unwell in the USA,
Type 1 Diabetes means you were born with it, no way to survive until adulthood without being diagnosed early in life AND treated for it. You must mean you were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes as an adult. No wonder we pay sooooooo much for medications when our elected officials can't even get a grasp on the basics themselves.
Thank you on behalf of all the people who take insulin. I fortunately do not but know of many who have difficulty paying for their medication!
When did this happen?? I'm so thankful. My late husband had type 1 diabetes and once he needed a vial early but they said it was 500 bucks.. no way to afford it. He said in an exasperated tone "what am I supposed to do? Die?" It wasn't the pharmacist fault but it was just heart wrenching to see my husband in this predicament. I barely ever seen him slip and show negative emotions but this was one of the times. I'm so happy to see this cruel part of the world lessen.
I get that it costs something to make but if you need it to literally stay alive you should just have it imo...
As the mother of a type one diabetic, I've seen my adult child struggle to buy her insulin some months. Her dad and I always help out if needed. However, I can see the inner pain she feels when we have to help. She works hard and is so careful with her money. But the unexpected happens, especially on minimum wage pay. You sir are my hero! Drug company's should not be getting rich at the cost of human lives.
So good to see that there are those, who advocate for those of us, who need this life-saving medication. My hope is that the patents will run out soon and that there will be multiple generics on the market.
Texas, USA. Sadly, most Americans cannot afford their medications.
Load More Replies...Such an amazing guy! The best changes have come about when you see a need and fight for it ..thank you!
So basically all they need now is one representative with a disproportionally expensive deadly chronic desease to fix healthcare. Go USA!
I did the math and to make 30 days worth of insulin it only costs from 60 to about 100 dollars. All of the rest is purely profits.
Hello I am a T1 diabetic and I agree its really expensive...especially the insulin pump, I've gon through 3 ever since I git mine because they kept breaking :(
When you ask yourself, "well, what can I do about it, I'm just one person...."
I Love This Story So Much
That's espacially sad cause most big stores would accept to prep your groceries in advance and put them in your trunk. Especially if you need help like by being elderly in a pandemic. I feel them though, it is hard to think through during such panick. I just hope they found a more reliable way to safely buy their groceries.

My Eyes Are Sweating Wow
I helped my mum look after my dad throughout his illness. I did all the heavy and hard stuff she couldn’t do that he would worry about - the garden, cleaning the car, shopping, diy, you name it I did it. There are lots of photos of that time - dad and mum, dad and my brother, dad and his grandchildren but I don’t have a single photo of me with my dad; I was always the one taking the pictures, capturing the memories for everyone else.i will have to try this, I miss him everyday.

Man, why do I read posts like this. I am pregnant, therefore I cry when I,for example, see nice flower and this caused waterfalls.
I remember when I was pregnant crying at credit card commercials. I feel you! Keep some emergency tissues on you at all times. ❤️

I've been emotional the past few days and thought I would be laughing and smiling from these posts... so wrong. I cried my eyes out with a few smiles here and there. But at least it is tears from positivity rather than the stress of life.
I needed this today. Thank you Liucija for putting this thread together.
I am dying of breast ca. One of the hardest things for me is worrying about leaving my 3 children and 2 grandchildren behind in what seems like a sad and unkind world. Thank you for relieving my worry and knowing that there will still be good and kind people for them out there when I am gone 😢😢😢😢
Love the rabbit's little studio apartment! We had a rabbit as a pet when I was around 14, and he was the best pet. He and our little dog, about the same size as the rabbit (small dog) would stay in the rabbit's cage together when we all had to go out for a few hours; Dog had no problems toileting through the bottom of the cage, and he and Rabbit would play together, eat together, and nap together. I remember them both very well, even though that was nearly 60 years ago.
Idk why but I cried a little more at each one. Thank you for this
imagine calling an entire country of people vile & then implying that you're part of the group of people being kind.
