Mother Saves Her Daughter During A Talent Show, And Now Everyone Is Crying

School talent shows are quite an event for every child that participates, with an opportunity to show off their skills and make their parents proud. But they are also, without a doubt, absolutely nerve-wracking and it’s no surprise that some children let worry get the best of them.

Last week, Rhonda Whitney posted a video of her daughter’s school talent show that quickly went viral with 73k shares and 144k likes. The footage shows a girl singing Andra Day’s song “Rise Up” and a minute in, overwhelmed by fear, she freezes up and stops singing. As everyone holds their breath, her mother wastes no time to jump to her daughter’s rescue. At that moment, Shaye Washington, a Colorado Springs resident, and proud mother knew exactly what to do. “I saw her struggling and getting ready to get frustrated so I just immediately stepped in. From where I was standing it looked like my child was asking for help, but just not verbally. Like at that moment she wanted someone to step in and save her.” Washington recalled.

Shaye’s actions not only earned a round of applause at the talent show, but also won the internet over. People from all over the world left beautiful messages below the video, as well as on Washington’s profile. Scroll down below to watch the inspiring video, but be warned, it had tears rolling down our cheeks!

Watching this at work with the only other person that answers phones with me was a really, really bad idea. Both moms, we were bawling, proud of this mom for doing what she did, hurting for the daughter at the same time, and just overwhelmed by the emotions this video hit. WOW. So please don't call us at work till we regain our composure!
