I Created These Comics About My Relationship That Most Couples Can Probably Relate To (58 Pics)

Some of the major influences in my life that helped me develop and define my style was actually reading many many comic books! Mainly collecting Disney classic comic books was my favorite hobby as a kid, like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse and I’ve always imagined creating my own characters!

The time it takes to fully create a comic is not always the same, it depends on the idea, so sometimes it will be 2-3 hours and some other more complex ideas may take up to 6 hours.

Usually, ideas come by themselves, although the more I create, the easier it will be for more ideas to come! But because chocoandpancake is something inspired by our daily life, moments, and conversations, and as we think about each comic together, it is much more fun and easy to find ideas!

This work, in particular, came to help us escape from reality, everything we do is with love and joy and I guess this is the reason why we haven’t ever felt burned out by creating these comics!

Usually, when someone sees our work they will react happily with a laugh or an 'awww' or will relate with their relationship and that’s our goal!

The part of the creative process that we enjoy the most is finding an idea together, but the moment we see each idea complete is a very enjoyable moment as well!

Our inspiration for starting this account was after a conversation we had where we called at each other with these nicknames (choco and pancake) as cuddle names... Until one day after a difficult period we went through, I decided to make a surprise for my partner (choco), so I opened this account and uploaded a post, and sent it to him after a hard day at work!  His reaction was remarkable and lovely... so after that, we thought 'why not go ahead and hopefully bring a smile to other couples who will probably relate with our lives and our comics!

When I first started drawing cartoons, I was a 'strictly' traditional artist who avoided thinking of any kind of digital art. In the beginning I chose to start digital art as a kind of economy, instead of buying colors and sketchbooks all the time, a tablet included everything I needed! In the process I was thrilled with the possibilities of digital art and how many facilities it gave me in the creation of comics and animations, so I can say I fell in love with digital art!

What motivates me as an artist is a kind of inner need to capture what I think, see and feel! Creation is part of myself and the love for what I do and the purpose for which I do it is what I need to continue! And we are so grateful to everyone who chooses to support us and help us along the way!
