Artist Who Makes People Cry With Her Animal Comics Just Released A New One About A Swan Inspired By True Events

Humans are developing vaccines in record time and planning to go to Mars but we remain callous and cruel towards beautiful animals who mean no harm.

A German artist known online as Jenny Jinya has been tackling this issue for quite some time now. Whether she’s talking about orcas, parrots, or elephants, her comics remind us that sadly, a lot of the time when the Grim Reaper comes to take animals to the After Life, it’s because of humans.

And this one is no exception—the story is about a lonely swan who had to witness her precious eggs get brutally smashed. “I read about this a while ago and it still breaks my heart,” Jenny wrote when uploading the comic. “The only message I have here is don’t be cruel.”

These events took place in the UK in 2020. A group of teenage boys killed the unborn cygnets after hurling rocks and bricks at them, and the mother was found dead earlier this week, not long after the father swan disappeared, Manchester Evening News reported.

“Even though the incident occurred last year, I read about it only recently,” Jenny told Bored Panda. “Like everyone else, I was deeply shocked, angry, but also incredibly sad. For weeks, it just didn’t let me go, I kept seeing this sad, lonely swan that had lost everything in my mind.”

Witnesses said the group was aiming for the island where the swans had made a nest and three of the six eggs were left smashed.

Later, wildlife activists who had been keeping an eye on the swans said more eggs had been lost, and only one remained.

They added that the father swan left the nest and had not returned since. It is believed he had been driven away by stress.

The mother swan had been harassed by moor hens, ducks, and a dog since her unhatched eggs were attacked and she lost her partner. Soon, the activists found her dead in her nest.

“There’s not much I can say really,” activist Sam Woodrow said. “She probably died of a broken heart as she had a partner for life and he was driven away by stress.”

According to Swan Lifeline, it has been known for swans to die of a broken heart if they lose their partners—swans generally mate for life.

The artist said that sometimes it’s really hard to imagine that people will one day be kinder to animals but the comments and messages she receives from people actively fighting for animals every day always cheer her up. “Be it vets, shelter workers, or private people who volunteer, such incredible, selfless commitment that is never in the news and gets far too little attention gives me so much hope. There are incredible people out there and I applaud them.”

Even though she remains productive, Jenny said Germany, the country she lives in, currently is in its second lockdown and the pandemic has taken a toll on her creative process. “At the beginning, I was still optimistic because I thought I would at least have more time for my comics during the lockdown. But now I have a hard time maintaining a work-life-balance when I don’t have other options than work. I’m trying to keep myself busy with gardening and houseplants on the side now. Plus, my dog is always happy about all the extra walks.”

People were really sad to learn this had actually happened

Why on Earth did those disgusting people feel the need to throw rocks at the swans' island? Just because they could? Just because they thought they could get away with it? What did they think they had to gain from this? What good did they think would come from being pointlessly cruel?

The unexplainable cruelty that people, kids, teens and more so adults, show animals, is beyond the pale. It is evil. And in a group, the evil is tenfold. They cheer each other on, to do more evil, to kill, to destroy what is good, and innocent in the is world. Some living being that has no defense against them! They show no compassion, no love, no, understanding . How can they love having done this, and never think about it again? Especially with many of us knowing that swans, like several other animals, mate for life? So they not only killed their babies, but drove the father from the nest with their exacting cruelty, but also the mother and possibly the father... so an entire family dead, because they thought it was fun. Yeah, fun, to murder maim and kill a family of wild swans. How powerful that must have made them feel...

Jenny Jinya, I just want you, and all goodhearted people, to know that it's not just vets, shelter workers, and volunteers who are helping suffering animals; we all can help them enormously by supporting the reputable animal protection and environmental organizations (they can't do it alone), signing petitions, joining protests, writing letters to elected officials and vote for those who support animal welfare laws - that's the only way to know they'll be supporting their constituencies as well, not the big business, the wealthy donors. I keep saying that anyone who abuses animals should face the same punishment dealt to the animal. It's our duty to respect and try to help nature when we can so we can all enjoy it. Animals are like children that can't speak. They fear us if wild. Trust us if pets. Scavenge off us if we aren't careful like with bears, coyote, fox, opossum, and raccoon. But they are not evil, they are nature.

I'm feeling so bad i could even give my life for this poor little thing- I'm gonna cry.. Just . IMAGINE. Your wife. Your pregnant wife. Gets KILLED. By a gang. You lost your family. CAN PEOPLE TREAT ANIMALS AS HUMANS? JUST BECAUSE WE ARE SMART AND CAN TALK DOES *NOT* MEAN WE GET RESPECT AND CAN KILLL WHTEVER WE WANT. TO BE HONEST US, HUMANS WE ARE GREEDY AND MEAN. I'm sure none wants to be treated like this. Imagine other animals being the humans on earth and us the animals, imagine people killing you and your family for food. ANimals are LIVING creatures. Those stupid kids acts like savage idiots. I hope they end up the same for killing those such beautiful sweet creatures.

the fact that I grew up with boys doing this just... It kills me. At my elementary school, we had these little birds that nested on the ground, and the boys would jump the fence just to smash their eggs, and one girl would trap tons of tadpoles that we would get in this mini-stream thing we had in her water bottle. Then she'd show everyone all the dead tadpoles, floated to the top. So much life wasted. Natural Selection should work the opposite way sometimes.

I don't know the whole story, but all these people in the comments assuming that these kids were just doing it out of cold bloodedness. You don't know what their life is like, I'm not saying that what they did is okay, it is most definitely not, but their parents might have been a bad example, or some other family related thing.

Sadly the humans who threw the rocks never learned the 4 principals of Humanity. 1. Do the right thing, 2. Practice kindness, 3. Embrace Empathy, 4. Compassion toward everything. If they knew these 4 principles, they never would have done this. Too bad because it is such an easy thing to do once you start down that path. I like to think the swan and her babies are in a better place now and safe on the other side!!

It always amazes me that there are even any swans left, there was a family of swans living near me in a very spacious park area, but for dog walkers it is never enough just after their cygnets were born a dog killed the Mother swan and now there is only one juvenile and his dad left. If that is not enough a graffiti campaign has started up against the swans in another part of the city. I despair.

As a general comment, these sad stories so well illustrated DO bring a lump to my throat although I am often as an Introvert considered to be somewhat cold as a person. One aspect I like is although we all fear the Grim Reaper, Death while Skull-Face and skeletal is not horrific as in "Tales of The Crypt" but portrayed as a kindly and sympathetic entity who has come to free the victims from physical and emotional suffering.

Comparing those two events is a fallacy. Nobody is aborting someone else's child. The swan breaking her own eggs would be abortion, someone else breaking the swan's eggs is like punching a pregnant woman in the abdomen until she miscarries.

I despair.

Like Mr. Rogers said, you have to look for the helpers. Yes some mean-spirited kids may have done this but there are many more that came to help. There are many more that are outraged. More care than the ones that didn't.

Why is there only one baby in the end? Is it because it died last and Death had already taken its siblings away?

As a general comment, these sad stories so well illustrated DO bring a lump to my throat although I am often as an Introvert considered to be somewhat cold as a person. One aspect I like is although we all fear the Grim Reaper, Death while Skull-Face and skeletal is not horrific as in "Tales of The Crypt" but portrayed as a kindly and sympathetic entity who has come to free the victims from physical and emotional suffering.

I really hope the boys that did this see these images, and one day teach their children to be better humans than they were.

The story is indeed heartbreaking. I just want to show how hypocritical this community is: You call the swan eggs "unborn cygnets", yet you are debating if human fetuses' classify as unborn children or not.

These humans are sick! I don't know what makes you think they can just get away with something so wrong! I hope they rot in hell for it... You know what they all say " karma is a b****" so that means it's going to bite them right in their ass... To see how it feels...

I'm surprised that the liberal infested BP would post something so hypocritical while liberal humans (mostly) celebrate abortion.

Comparing those two events is a fallacy. Nobody is aborting someone else's child. The swan breaking her own eggs would be abortion, someone else breaking the swan's eggs is like punching a pregnant woman in the abdomen until she miscarries.
