Barbéy’s surrealistic photo ideas are not only works of retouching and extensive photo editing – he also sticks the negatives together, photographs them, uses other techniques to reach the creative idea vision he had in his mind first – but few are able to resist the gripping illusion.

Thomas says it’s not the technique that matters to him but all the likes and kudos he gets. „I would like to think that these black and white photos can be appreciated without any real knowledge of their technical virtuosity“, says Barbéy.
