Common sense, despite its name, is really not that common at all. The world is a big and complicated place, so one shouldn’t expect everyone to have an intricate and nuanced understanding, however, there are always some people who have decided to reject what we do know and instead fully subscribe to fantasy.

People online share the dumbest beliefs they’ve encountered in real people. From the idea that the literal sun is a government invention, to using public funds to control the weather, get comfortable as you read through, upvote the most unhinged ideas and be sure to share your own thoughts and experiences below.

30 Dumb Things That Some People Unironically Believe People who believe that covid wasn’t real. Funeral service workers including myself know how real it was having to build makeshift morgues for all the bodies we couldn’t get to cemeteries/crematories because they were so backed up. Healthcare workers too, obviously. It was an insane time and I could not believe the amount of people that believed it was fake.

30 Dumb Things That Some People Unironically Believe I can’t wrap my head around the fact that some people believe that vaccines cause more harm than good. We have mountains of research showing how effective and safe they are, yet the misinformation still spreads like wildfire. It's baffling how easily people can fall for such unfounded claims!

It's because people aren't growing up seeing siblings dying of these diseases. It's not real to them, whereas a tissue of lies and misinformation on internet is real to them.

The only time they can cause more harm than good or for one specific individual for one specific reason. For example, people are allergic to the flu vaccine. Those people would suffer more harm than good from getting it. My husband got severe heart, failure, and almost died from the Covid vaccine. That doesn’t mean it’s not good for anybody else. But it does mean it’s not good for him and he can’t take it again. I’ve got all my three shots and I have been fine.

The UK government stopped using the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in winter 2021. In May 2024, AstraZeneca withdrew the vaccine, now called Vaxzevria, from sale in other countries. They were sued for a rare but potentially deadly side effect involving blood clots and heart issues. I know a family where the brothers suffered heart issues and refused secondary shots from AstraZeneca.

Many people had a week long reaction to the first COVID vaccines. They misunderstand that immune system response for being COVID.

The really sickening part of C-19 deniers how many boomers spew that lie. They grew up seeing relatives with polio, disabled or living in iron lungs. They were around for Legionnaire's Disease in 1976, how the spread was brought under control by the public obeying the CDC's guidelines. They lived through it, they knew better.

My friends and I were vaccinated way back in the late 60's so we could start school. One of those friends still worries what damage the vaccines may have caused her. She's always been fit and healthy except for ordinary illnesses like colds and flu. Crazy!

Well, she was vaccinated in the 60s and now she's probably graying and has wrinkles, maybe put on weight and her back hurts. Just look what those vaccinations did to her, almost 60 years ago: they've made her OLD!!!!!!!

Ah, yeah, I gotta get my covid vax. Not sure about timing, got back from a really long trip (so might want to wait a couple days to make sure I didn't pick it up...) and next week has busy things. Maybe next Thursday? IDK. Also if you haven't and you can, go get your flu vax.

People need to read a bit of history to see what life was like before vaccines and how many people died from what are, today, totally preventable diseases. People are quick to dismiss modern medicine because it’s made them so safe but these fatal diseases are still out there, waiting….

I'm double vaccinated, double boostered and had the flu vaccine too. Having medically died twice and been resuscitated in the ambulance? THAT'S how bad I was with Covid and Spinal Bruising etc?... I've a friend who is a Microbiologist and he worked on the Covid vaccine and I had Specialists, Doctors who shared information with me. I went down in the first wave of Covid, at the height of the Pandemic. Before the vaccines. They were being developed when I was in hospital. I was one of the first 1000 people in my city to have the AstraZeneca vaccine. And I'd rather have it than ever, EVER, go through what I went through ever again.

It's not just that people don't believe, it's that they will almost believe in anything else because that's what they were told to believe. When given the choice why would you put your faith in injecting bleach or taking horse parasite meds instead of a medicine designed for this specific purpose?

People generally mislabel or misunderstand the term antivax. People who didn't get a covid vax (at least not at first) are often wrongly bunched into this category. While most people who refused the covid vax are very much on board with other vaccinations. The antivax crowd is against them all.

More internet hyperbole. Just because people didn't trust the covid vaccine - the first of its kind large human trial of using RNA messenger technology - does NOT mean they are "anti vax". I have no issues with vaccines, but I wasn't willing to be a guinea pig on the bleeding edge of technology. I live alone, I don't work with the public, and I still have never had covid. Coworkers are on rounds 2 and 3, though.

That people think that cats can be vegan.

They're carnivores! If you try to make a cat eat an all-veggie diet, they will starve. Their digestive tracts aren't suited for it.

30 Dumb Things That Some People Unironically Believe That people willingly donate their life f*****g savings to churches who are obviously just stealing their money. The troubling thing is those who demand a "Christian Nation" think their God is orange and who repeatedly goes against that which is written. Same thing with many of the "Godly men".
