I'm Matteo and I'm a professional photographer. I've always been fascinated by the beauty of birds.

In 2013 I decided to go in search of a Concincina as a pet for my studio garden in Milan. That's when I met Giorgio, a farmer who invited me to an aviary exhibition.

That very same day, the Concincina hen Jessicah (cue Unchained Melody) stole my heart.

My friend and work partner Moreno joined me in this passion/madness and we started to take pictures of literally hundreds of chickens and roosters.

Just look at them. They are beautiful. And they know it.

Eventually, we ended up with enough material to think about publishing a book. That's why we just launched a Kickstarter campaign.

This is a white-crested black Polish breed. Various Polish chickens have different colored body and/or head feathers, but they all have this characteristic long head feathers :) I do feel bad for them because I feel they can't see well. I have two Polish hens. I trim the feathers a little above their eyes so that they can see hawks, owls and osprey who come around every so often.

I had a hen miked with silver laced wyandotte, silky, barred rock, anoconna, rhode island red, probably this chicken, and more. She imprinted on me but sadly died 3 months later, 2021.

This guy is adorable. He ROCKS! He has hair (feathers) like I try to get at the beauty salon!

This chicken is the spitting image of Phyllis Diller. https://www.google.com/search?q=phyllis+diller&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=Tra_nFmgU576FM%253A%252CZHisBphKuBfpIM%252C_&usg=__C-EDMbHnF2sbdyIM7cp1JJNRq6g%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwikpdym3dDZAhXC6lMKHYtrCswQ_h0InAIwHQ#imgdii=qSvMkpL8e0yNCM:&imgrc=Nz7tOzVkCbvn2M:

Looks cool, but makes me sad that we have bred chickens to have all these extra feathers on their feet and legs of a type that would only cause them problems. :\
