I see me in this. Everything at right angles, plants evenly spaced and so on. This is not my favorite house in this thread but it's a good example of why I shouldn't be the one designing them.

This one is probably quite nice from the inside. Appears to be right on beach so that rooftop patio likely has a wonderful view. The open part of the second floor appears to have a track so I'm guessing it has a large window/slider wall that closes in the bad weather - and still gives a wonderful view to sit and have a cup of tea. Actually, I'm realizing the bottom opens/closes as well. Must get some wonderful breezes in warm weather with everything opened up.

I feel like I should be looking for a hidden morse code message in the placement of those shrubs.

Embrace the rain? Those ferns suggest a fair bit of shade / dampness. I have those in my woods. Patio under a permanent roof suggests sitting there watching rain come down.
