First-Grade Teacher Lets Students Draw On Her Dress For Last Day Of School

Most teachers wouldn’t take kindly to you drawing on their clothes. But first-grade teacher ShaRee Castlebury didn’t mind at all. In fact, she told her students to do it! And as you can see, the result is pretty spectacular.

The teacher, who works at Pat Henry Elementary in Lawton, Oklahoma, wanted to do something special for her student’s last day of school. So deciding to combine fun with creativity, she came to work in a plain white dress and asked her little “Precious Picassos” (as she calls them on her Facebook post) to draw all over it. Not only was it an awesome way for the kids to end their school year – it also gave ShaRee a beautiful keepsake to remember her students by. “It is a memory dress,” she told TODAY. “Because I don’t want to lose the beauty of the kids as they have to grow up and move on from me.” Why can’t we all have teachers like this?

It seems more plausible that she brought the dress without wearing it at first, had everyone draw on it, and THEN put it on.

The truth is she saved one piece of art from every student in her class and had them silk screened onto the dress at year's end.

Funny, but pretty sure she wasn't wearing it as they drew on it. I figure she changed into it after she let them draw all over it.

A great teacher indeed and what a beautiful result. The dress looks much better than works of some real life fashion designers.

Awesome! My friend, The Pained Lady, has been doing this at parties and Renaissance Festivals for over 10 years now. She lets children paint all over her dress and tells them stories based on what they are painting. :) https://www.facebook.com/DunsanydreamsAngelaHunt/?fref=ts

The teacher's name is ShaRee Castlebury. Chris is her husband. They have one of those husband-and-wife Facebook accounts. If you look at the post on her fb that shows a newspaper article about the dress, you can see her name in the article.

e is, I'd take the dress to work and have kids draw on it, then wear it.. We have a strict no contact rule in our school and I would not want kids to feel it's ok to place their hands on other people's bodies including sensitive(personal) areas. That's what I teach my kids when they transition from Kindergarten to Primary.. they are so used to smacking everywhere and poking everything with their parents.. like bums and boobs. So personally, I hope it was a miscommunication between the writing of this article and what actually happened. It does look pretty well drawn, so my guess is that she had brought in the dress for kids to draw on. But the writer of the article thought it sounded cooler to write like this not knowing it actually creates a really serious problem for that teacher now. On a completely unrelated note... I think I remember seeing Angelina Jolie's wedding dress the same way, she had her kids' drawings on it as well.. but hers was printed on.

That's totally awesome.. Though I'd think she deliberately bought and wore a white dress for her kids to draw on.. Which is even more amazing. I'd totally do that one day, though the only difference is, I'd take the dress to work and have kids draw on it, then wear it.. well the text above states "she came to work in a plain white dress" so that sort of implies that she was wearing it at the time the drawing was done so it seems a little pervish to me
