Not easy for a street photographer specialized in people to work in Helsinki in the dead of winter ! The sun rises around 9.30 and sets as early as 3.30pm consequently the only sources of light are the tramways crisscrossing the city. So I found a spot near a tram station where trams stop and every night for four days, I posted myself there and systematically shot the brightly-lit windows of the tramway’s car. Here is a selection of photos showing Finns on their way back home after a day’s work.

i really love what you did ! nice work, it needed more dynamic i guess, i'm getting started with streetphotography and peoples like you did and thankyou for sharing
This is an intriguing idea, and some of the images do capture a bit of that "moment in time" feeling that photography is so good at portraying, but I feel like there's a little something missing here that would really make this series pop. I don't know if a better/faster lens would capture a richer depth of field and color range, I realize shooting through the streetcar window reduces some of that because of the properties of the glass/plexiglass, but I'd try experimenting with filters to see if you can find a way to get some of it back. I'm also wondering if focusing on a single person or on two people would have more impact than the dioramas showing everyone?
Thanks for your comment and suggestions, Pam. I used my 70-200 f/4, and I realize the shots would be better with the big 70-200 f/2.8, but it's far too heavy for travelling and way too expensive. Anyway, I had fun doing this series and will certainly add some ne shots to it, should the opportunity arise! Fell free to visit my website and leave a comment on it!
