It comes as no surprise that the bride and groom are usually those people that draw the most attention at a wedding. However, there are times when guests steal their thunder. Especially, unexpected guests. This happened to Tamiris Muzini and Douglas Vieira Robert, a Brazilian couple who were pleasantly surprised by a stray dog who came to greet them on their wedding day.

The newlyweds were enchanted by this adorable creature who immediately became the spotlight of the celebration. The dog, who later was named Braiá Caramelo de Jesus, stole the couple’s hearts and got adopted some days after the wedding.

As special as their wedding day was, it became even more memorable when the newlyweds were greeted by an unexpected guest – a stray dog

The dog arrived and sat right at the entrance of the church waiting for the wedding ceremony to be over

Bored Panda got in touch with Huandra, a wedding organizer and a volunteer for an NGO for the protection of animals who told us more about the wedding.

The woman revealed that when she was about to form the groomsmen’s line for the ceremony, the dog arrived and sat right at the entrance of the church! Both Huandra and the groomsmen found that scene very cute. However, they had to somehow move it from there for the bride and groom to be able to enter. But to their surprise, the dog managed to get to the car the bride was in and stayed by her side until she got out.

No one was able to move the dog away from the entrance

Tamiris found it incredible that the dog followed her to the church door. The bride entered the church and the dog stayed at the entrance, lying down until the ceremony was over.

As Huandra shared, they tried a few more times to get the dog out of the place, but then they realized that he really wanted to be there, so they let him be.

Both the bride and groom and the whole church loved the dog’s presence and it seemed to be unwilling to let the couple out of its sight

Huandra noticed that one of the dog’s paws was hurt and he had a little difficulty walking. “He did something he hadn’t done with anyone before, he got to his feet and tried to greet the bride and groom. That’s when the bride said to me, ‘I want to adopt him, he’s amazing.’ But at that moment, there was nothing I could do because I had a contract to follow and everyone went to celebrate the wedding. Our hearts were in love with the puppy.”

Huandra posted some videos of the dog on the NGO’s page. They quickly went viral and soon people commented that the dog lived on the streets. It was clear that the dog was an orphan.

The couple couldn’t get the dog out of their heads so they decided to adopt him. They named him Braiá Caramelo de Jesus

“The first thing the couple told me, right after the wedding, was that they couldn’t get the puppy out of their minds, that they really wanted to adopt him. The day after the wedding, they looked for him a lot, but without success.

Knowing this demand, I decided to help through the NGO’s page, with a photo of him asking if anyone had any news of where the dog was. Six hours later, a follower sent me a message with images. I immediately recognized the dog, he was very far away in a coffee shop. I asked the follower named Joyce to hold him while the couple went to the place to catch it.”

They took him to the vet to heal his broken paw and get some medicine

Now, the couple is on their honeymoon while Caramelo is patiently waiting at the bride’s mother’s house for them to come back

Braia found humans he could love, and since he had no money, decided to make himself a wedding present.

This is why I believe that you don't pick the animal to be your pet. The animal picks you.

This just... made me cry, so happy for them all for finding each other. My first canine partner ever showed up in my yard 6 years ago, when I was already planning to adopt from the local shelter after having just moved in from another city where I lived in an apartment. To this day I firmly believe it was just... meant to be, and someone or something out there made it happen. When I really think about it, I trully believe it is one of the greatest blessings of my life, my lovely girl made me a better person in so many ways. She's my angel in disguise, just like I know this awesome boy will be for his chosen humans.

I solemnly believe that sometimes, under the absolute best circumstances a dog is born as a guardian angel and actively seeks their person/ people. I have witnessed it a few times and had it happen to me twice now.

Step aside Amazon, the Carmel Mutt is definitely Brazil's best asset. Good thing they're everywhere, in all shapes and sizes, spreading happiness and stealing hearts.

This is so beautiful. We don't find our pets, they find us and wiggle their way into our hearts and lives.

It's astonishing to me that people can let stray animals walk. Like, if I don't trust the look of a dog or cat, or see a tame bunny, I take them home. No question about it. I post on sites and social media, have them checked for a chip and then get them the help they need. Shelter, or find them a home. Luckily we don't have kill shelters in my country
