I Explored The Depths Of Stockholm To Capture Some Of The Coolest Metro Stations In The World
Hidden in the depths beneath the Swedish capital lies, “the world’s longest art gallery”, the Stockholm metro. The tunnelbana (tunnel rail) system is 110 km (65 miles) long and has 100 stations. More than 90 of these stations are decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations, engravings and reliefs by over 150 different artists.
Many of the stations are left with the bedrock exposed and painted, giving a surreal look to many of the platforms and escalators. Each decorated station has it’s own unique look and feel. Here are a few of them.

Share on FacebookThese all look cool! But how did you manage to take photos of metros with no people? Have you spoken with the metro keepers so they could let you take a few shots after the closing hours?
Unlike most big cities, the Stockholm metro is actually quite quiet! I avoided the rush hours and was also patient, but it was still easy enough to capture the scenes without people.
Load More Replies...I was thinking that as well! But then I named it after a song from one of my favourite bands!
Load More Replies...Great shots - good job avoiding people and avoiding security guards (not allowed to shoot with tripod in the subway). The only thing that bugs me is that some or your shots are exactly like Alexander Dragunovs: http://www.adragunov.com/?tag=/Stockholm-metro&page=1 Anyway.. I enjoy your images.
Thank you! I've never known anyone had a problem shooting with tripod in the Stockholm metro, unlike other metro systems. None of my shots are exactly the same as his, although some are similar, as it's the same places and you can often only get one viewpoint. And I think my photo are edited much nicer than his, although I'm biased ;)
