A few days ago, the US government finally announced the second round of stimulus checks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As it turns out, the $900-billion economic relief package will most likely include $600 stimulus checks that will be received by most Americans. Needless to say, the news about the total of the stimulus check money left many folks disappointed, since it's half the amount people received in the spring.
Of course, thousands of internauts decided to deal with the news in the way that is closest to their hearts—by jumping on the interwebs and creating hilarious memes reacting to it. The irony is that if the US hadn't been so negligent in building a proper welfare system, they wouldn't have to spend trillions of dollars now on useless stimulus checks that won't even cover the rent. They are handing out glasses of water to people that are drowning.
Other nations have programs that have allowed their economies to remain relatively stable, by doing what? Compensating for wages lost to Covid, so peopel can 1. buy and 2. sell and therefore 3. stay in business which 4. keeps people employed! See how that works? ....
I'm guessing Congress doesn't see how it works.
Load More Replies...Hmmm...I am not sure what to think of this...here in Hungary, nobody got a single penny of financial help...so while I totally understand that $600 is not a huge amount over there, it's still something. At least one can put food on the table or this amount might cover the rent. I was taught not to complain about something you get for free.
