This talented Russian sculptor Igor Verniy creates beautiful and elegant steampunk sculptures of birds, butterflies, and other wild animals.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes before Verniy creates his artwork. He observes his creations’ living counterparts to ensure that he captures their movements just right. Then, he assembles them from various pieces of scrap metal – old car parts, bike parts, clock movements, tableware, and anything else that fits.

He's a Smith, a Beauty Smith. I love all what he does. The Panda's eyes are two simple screws. I never thought screw's heads could be sad eyes.

There is great satisfaction in repurposing discarded items into something else, and it's an important skill that should be promoted in this throwaway culture. It should be taught in schools! This is a fine example of what can be achieved.
