Becoming a new mom has been life-changing. Having a little kid has been hard, tiring, gratifying, beautiful, challenging, scary, and a thousand other everyday problems that only a parent would ever understand.
It is these life-changing experiences that have inspired me to immortalize my everyday life as a stay at home mom in cartoon drawings. Whether it's the mundane tasks like doing laundry or the exciting moments of James', my baby boy's, first steps, I want to put it down on paper so that I can better cherish these fleeting moments that are often overlooked.
Being a stay at home mom can be incredibly lonely. I like to think that by drawing life's simple moments, I can connect with other mothers and help them feel less alone in raising kids. By doing these relatable comics, I feel less alone, too. It's a win-win situation and I have been able to connect with many lovely parents and fellow parent-illustrators through my cute drawings.

Newborns Are So Tiny Snuggled Up In Your Arms, Then One Year Later They Get So Long And Big. And Yet, They Still Manage To Fit Perfectly In Your Arms
James Is My Constant Reminder To Stay Present. I Have A Bad Habit Of Getting Caught Up On My Phone, Wasting My Time Instead Of Doing Something Fulfilling. When I'm In My Haze, He Comes Up To Me With A Toy, Eagerly Calling Me To Play With Him
What Our Weekend Normally Looks Like (Just Kidding, James Can't Settle For Longer Than 5 Seconds When We're All Together In The Bed)
I Can't Be The Only "Bad" Parent That Doesn't Watch Age Appropriate Things With Their Kid. I Mean He's Only 18mo, He Can't Possibly Understand What That Dragon's Doing, Right!?

When Your Toddler Is Having A Really Hard Time Sleeping Due To Teething, But You Don't Want To Undo Months Of Sleep Training
Flying With A Toddler Is A Delicate Balance Of Skill, Patience And Well Planned Carry-Ons
I took my son to Italy to visit his Nonna , flying from Arizona when he was 3 1/2... Back before iPhones and iPads... I knew that he needed more than toys to distract him on the flights, so we bought a portable DVD player ( remember those?) the first leg of the trip was fine, but when he got super fidgety I started setting up his movie... and the flight attendant swooped in and confiscated it! You can imagine how delightfully refreshed I was after THAT flight! Lol
I once took a 3 year old and a 5 year old on a 12 hour flight to Guam. Scary right, but they were very well behaved no crying or fusing and the flight attendants rocked! They allowed me to take my boys into the bar area to play quietly after everyone else was sleeping, yep that means our flight left at 9 pm and no they both did not sleep the entire flight!
Every Night Before Bed I Hold Him Like This Just One Second Longer, Hugging Him Tightly And Taking Him In
These are my most favorite precious times with my son. Heart melting!

Ever Have One Of Those Days That Just Suck For No Particular Reason? I Like To Draw The Cute And Sweet Moments Of Motherhood, But It Is Definitely Not Always Like That. Having such a day today. Single mother to four girls (11, 6, 5 & 2)....today sucked so bad, i do hope tomorrow gets better :(

I Finally Cut James' Very Unruly Hair, And Somehow Managed To Keep His Ears Intact. Giving Him A Forbidden Item Definitely Helped Keep His Attention Elsewhere (In This Case The Remote Control)
Cutting nails is the worst. I always used to cut my daughters too short and it would then hurt her and then I would get shouted at by my wife and then feel like a c**p dad.....😞

James Has Been All About Mommy Lately. All Doors Must Stay Open (Including The Bathroom And Shower) So That He Can Keep A Strict Watch On Me. Leaving The Room Without Him Is Not An Option
Cloth Diapers Bring On A Real, Serious Addiction. They're Supposed To Be "Economical" But As Soon As You Get One, You Need To Get Them All
As a former modern cloth nappy (diaper) mumma, I totally understand. They're so darn cute!

Electronic Toys Are Either A Life Saver Or The Bane Of A Parent's Existence. They Are Great At Occupying Kids So That You Can (Finally) Get Some Stuff Done, But The Incessant Noise Creeps Deep Into Your Ear Canal Where It Travels Through Your Body And Seeps Into Your Bones
It Only Took Him 2 Years, But James Finally Took His First Steps Alone
When my son started walking, then, my friend, came the hard part 😅
Lovely
Sometimes When James Is Being Pathetic And Crying For No Good Reason, We Will Mock Him By Mimicking Tarzan Cries
so i think this might actually be a cultural misunderstanding becuz ive seen this happen when translating from spanish to english. sometimes the words we think we r using correctly in english r actually not right at all and end up sending the wrong message. she might not be using pathetic in the way we use it in the english language, she's actually french and might be using it to signify being fussy and crying and thought the word pathetic fit the bill. for example as i mentioned about spanish you can ask someone not to bother you by saying "no me molestes" but in english molest means a wholllllle other thing than it does in spanish. i hope this is the case as all the artists other comics indict a kind and loving mommy!
A.k.a Everyday
Only Just Recently James Learnt To Sit Up On His Knees And Reach For Things. Now He Is Starting To Prop One Leg Up, But It Sort Of Just Flops Around Without Much Purpose
Trying To Focus On The Little Moments That Warm My Heart
Sick! Feeling All Sorts Of Awful And It's All James' Fault. Now I'm Stuck Lying On The Couch Like A Dead Potato. James Was The First To Get Sick In Our House, But Still Seems To Have Lots Of Energy For Crawling On Me Like A Monkey

God I'm so glad I decided never to have children. Oh and save your responses of glad you didn't have children also. I've heard it all.
Very well. it's your choice. Some poeple don't want to have kids at all, some want to have 6 or more. it's all okay
Load More Replies...Here's the thing that always gets me. If you HAVE kids, you have lived life both ways, with children and without. Therefore, you can make a legitimate comparison on the difficulties of parenthood. But you have never had children, you have only experienced life ONE WAY. Therefore you can't make a legitimate comparison. All you can do it sit on your high horse and judge people going through s**t you have never experienced. And be smug about it. So....congrats?
That's so sweet. I love her way to telling stories. Once james grow old, this notebook should be a really good present for his wife (me thinking so far away in the future. But that's happend when you are a parent) Hahahhaha..
Just makes me think of Bill Burr's skit on Motherhood being "the most difficult job on the planet"... "these mothers are bending over at the waist, putting DVDs into DVD players... I don't know how they do it! Dude, any job that you can do in your pyjamas is not a difficult job, alright? You're 35 years old playing hide and go seek... you're living the dream! No time card, no taxes... you're off the f*****g grid!"
When you are sleep-deprived, and yet you know you have the responsibility to keep a very young human safe and intact at all times, the mental work of constantly thinking about that very young person’s wellbeing is taxing on the mind and body. Science proved it, too. Add to that that you have to actually be as positive as possible when being with the very young human even while you’re extremely sleep-deprived some days, for the very young human’s psychological wellbeing not to be scarred. Plus keep the house clean as much as possible and remember to take a decent shower without panicking because the baby is crying because the baby is stressed by your ‘alarming’ absence for few minutes. Also, remember that giving birth is a traumatizing experience physically and emotionally for many women, so while dealing with the aftermath of a changing body, you’re dealing with all the aforementioned things. Also, financially for many women things do get quite stressful one way or the other, too.
