The periodic elimination of my ovum with my menstrual flow inspired me to give birth to something which has a biological end, and to create the start of the end.

Tools: tampon, fingers. Materials/substances: menstrual flow, canvas. Duration: 9 months.

It's a nice painting but I can just picture it being in a gallery like "Oh this is nice!" "Thank you I painted it with period blood!"

No, no cover in it! nothing at all! after the period dries it has no smell at all, and the strong red color turns into a darker shade and that's all!

I feel confused by the piece, the baby from a matter that shows there is no baby ? it is like a riddle. It actually does become a conversation, a deeper thought, now typing this I wonder how painful it must be to have that monthly reminder that you are not going to be lucky this time, maybe next time, maybe never ...I went and spun myself right in on myself with this one. The artist did exactly what art is meant to do, it made me think, it made me see something I will now wonder about, something that makes me feel sorrow, and also an understanding. I answered myself apparently.

Oh that is gross! I am a woman and i do not need the period blood to be proud of being a woman. I am a human being also should i use urine or other body discharges as well to do some art? It is dirty blood for god s sake. Just throw it away with your tampons and find something else to do as a woman. Being a woman is not just consist of giving birth or being a mother. This disgusting things just underrate the value of being a woman.

I find myself agreeing with you Naz. It seems that most art from women that is meant to be "profound" deals with periods or birth. Sure, back in the earlier days of modern feminism, it made sense to show off things like menstruation, because it was considered so "taboo" to even talk about, but nowadays most people aren't so prudish, so it's, well, gross, but what else? Basically, I'm trying to say that it's not so unusual anymore; the art world has already been so "shocking" that "shocking" has become overdone.

As I expected... both hot and cold :) I know it is strange, but why? only because of the mentrual flow? oh come one guys! this artwork has it's value due to the blood!! try to pay attention on the main concept, on the message of this work which is deepest than you can imagine...you should give a chance to think about the real and original birth of an artwork! I feel so proud of my ''baby'' ! Thank you for all your positive and negative feedback and all my respect to whom understood the main idea of my work! You are brave guys!

Tired of "liberated women" making "art" with period blood. Its not new. Its not different. I've lived in to many punk houses with to many "unconventional artists" that its just gross and played out at this point. Ooooooh its your period blood? Hello! This is magnificent and a bold project to take on. I love to embrace creativity as it comes from the creative centers of our bodies. This piece is fantastic but there is one statement in this article that rubs me the wrong way: the sentence about how the blood "rapes the virgin canvas". I read that as romanticizing or glorifying rape (which is never ok), and so it seems out-of-place. In other words, the metaphor *might* fit if your artwork was about rape, but I don't think this one is. I'm sure there are other ways to write that statement without using that word. I mean this as a kind criticism. Thank you for putting your work out there! Respectfully, A.

Strange... Weird... Freaky... Unnatural ... People maybe have so many words to describe this artwork but only few can realy understand the real meaning of it. We are living in a world full of pain and blackness, but only the purity of a newborn can give us back the smile... the hope ! Simply amazing ! Congrats !

this freaks me out, and feels too gross to me. Does that mean we can create art out of urine poop and saliva. Using stuff that comes out of your body seems wrong... But I guess the fact that it can make people confused, freaked out, and question things makes this effective artwork

I think the concept of this is beautiful in a sense. The time and effort that must have gone into making this, I love it, the raw emotion and the binding connection this piece of art work has is indescribably magnificent. The fact that if the artist was to sell or give this piece of art to someone, she would literally be willing to give a piece of herself not only from her mind but her body to another to appreciate, its incredible. It achieves a level of connection with the art that is significantly hard to reach. The same art work with paint would still be just as amazing but not as powerful, the fact that she used her own menstral blood creates this sense, a feeling, a connection with the art that is both beautiful and painful. She Is what I call a true artist for the purity of her art. It's her, it's not a copy or what people want to see it's her ideas expressed in a way for all to see. Take it as you will but I think her mind is undoubtedly beautiful. It shows in her art.

This is beautiful and thought provoking. To create art out of the very element that creates life...you've created life on a canvas. A gorgeous example of the Divinity that is Woman, the Womb and the Blood of Life. Well done.

The art is beautiful, you are very talented. But yeah, it is damn hard to put the image of menstrual blood and the whole grossness of it out of my mind. I am not grossed out by menstruation- it is a nature's curse that we women have to put up with. However, it does not make it any less smelly and therefore, disgusting when it comes around. May be it is better you use normal red paint and say that it represents menstrual blood. That way not everyone will get grossed out. <3

The "painting" is alright, -though it must be atrociously smelly- but the little captions over the pictures were yelling "GET IT, DO YOU GET IT!? ISN'T IT PROFOUND!?" at me. At least it's better than the modern art trend of doing basically nothing; she could've just menstruated on paper and said "F**k you, it's art."

Yes, period blood may seem gross. But guess what? It's completely, utterly, natural. It happens to all females who have passed that time-mark. Our Creator, whatever religion you believe in, designed us like this. If I'll take a wild guess, Timi wanted to celebrate the beauty of this part in a woman's life. So why all the hate comments?

So many malicious people here ! This is a piece of art ! She is a true artist. Each of the greatest artists of the world were divisived in their period and nowadays we read about them, we teach our children who were they, how best the were. Just read a bit about how Picasso's works were condemn just because he presented the world in a new form. Now he is mentioned as one of the greatest artists in the world. And that is just one simply example from thousands. So never know, maybe one day this woman will be as much famous as Picasso and others are, and frankly I wish her that !!! She deserves it !

Well. Someone has a lot of time on their hands. You do realize that not only is it medically unnecessary to have a period every month, there are study results showing that it can actually cause abnormal cells to form? And worshipping pain is a fool's game. Step into the 21st century, there is no reason to be in pain.

She deserves it !

although i find it kind of strange that you painted this with your period blood it's still a great piece of artwork, no matter what you painted it with

Well. Someone has a lot of time on their hands. You do realize that not only is it medically unnecessary to have a period every month, there are study results showing that it can actually cause abnormal cells to form? And worshipping pain is a fool's game. Step into the 21st century, there is no reason to be in pain.
