This Cat Keeps Putting Its Paws In The Air And Nobody Knows Why
Meet Keys, the pet cat with a rather unusual habit. Take a look at these cat pictures to see what we mean. I’d like to say that we have a logical explanation for it, but, well, we can only guess.
Peter Mares, her Californian owner, saw her throw her paws in the air one morning (presumably like she just didn’t care) and so he quickly took a picture. The next day the funny cat did it again, and he took another snap. But what is she doing?! Is she worshipping a mighty cat God invisible to us mortal humans? Is she trying to fly off in the form of a funny cat stretch? Is she waiting patiently for a double high-five? Well, Peter has nicknamed her Goalkitty, so we can only assume that she’s still celebrating Portugal’s recent victory in Euro 2016. Either that or she’s attempting to do the now famous “Iceland clap.” Whatever the truth is, we love it.
Now, with all seriousness, this behavior probably stems from muscle stretching. Not to ruin the fun of an alien worshipping cat, the animal was perhaps doing a stretch when her owner snapped the pics. Felines do adore the attention, so the standing cat kept doing it to get some praise.
Anyways, scroll down for the hilariously funny cat photos and see it for yourself!

Share on FacebookI am by no means a professional, however, I grew up on a farm and I have owned 2 separate hobby farms with a lot of rescue/rehab in the mix. I think the kitty does this for a combination of 2 reasons. If you will notice in a couple of pics the cat is simultaneously yawning. I think in the beginning the cat just figured out this was a peculiar but effective way to stretch. Then the cats behavior became reinforced by the reward of attention every time he performed the act. Now its become a sort of "conditioned response". (Pavlov's dog) I will also forward this to my vet tech friend and ask his opinion, he knows as much as any vet!
She puts her paws in the air, cuz she just don't care! Hip hop horrray, ho, hay, ho!
You are correct.... AND - She knows she's got a GREAT paint job!
Load More Replies...9 times as much as regular lives, if you believe the hype.
Load More Replies...I thought it was funny. Don't tell me what is funny and what isn't.
Load More Replies...Oh gods, stop, I'm laughing so hard my tummy hurts. She's wonderful, and thanks for sharing!
Maybe he is putting his arms up so you can pick him up saw a video with a cat like that, arms up meant pick me up
One of my cats does this. As a kitten, we'd pick her up under the arms, and by touching under her arms sends of a stretching reflex. Now just as we go to pick her up, her arms raise up to stretch, upon picking her up her whole body stretches straight out.
My cat does this when she wants a hug and to stretsh after a nap. It is adorable
Wjen my cat Papi puts his arms and paws up its usually because he wants a hug and sometimes he wants a hug and some food. Hope this helps.
Maybe she was a bear in previous life :D Or was being pointed at with a gun a lot? Or she wants to assert dominance.
I was gonna say she lived in NYC in a past life and was robbed alot!
Load More Replies...The look on her face at the ninth photo is priceless, like seriously dude?
Maybe she's watching Dragon Ball Z and she just wants to help Son Goku create the energy ball.
Did anyone think to maybe pick Keys up? My cats stretch like that until we pick them up...
Maybe she's been watching too much 'LAW AND ORDER'..........(bumm-bumm)!
bruh it's so obvious, she's making contact with 9th dimensional beings
She is a Yoga Kitty...reaching for the Holy Spirit...Breathe Kitty. Breathe!
She is a Yoga Kitty...reaching for connection to the Holy Spirit...Breathe Kitty, Breathe!
She throws her hands up in the air sometimes, singing heeeey-ooo, gotta leeet goooo...
Maybe the sweet baby just wants to be picked up and hugged, check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndl_6UfD3K4
MOL - meowing out loud, why does this old song from the late 70s or early 80s come to my mind when I look at this kitty??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QclTgHa-Q5E - He´s super-cute, my Thori does this too sometimes, when he wants me to take him on my arms to carry him arround in the appartment, so he can hug me and purr into my ear!!! 😹😹😹💖💖💖Maybe this is a tux kitty thing??? My Thori´s a tux-tabby (very rare markings).... 17264571_1...5c6100.jpg
My cat , Cassie (RIP). She did it, because she wanted to be pick up . Sleep in my arms.
Has a vet checked this cat? While this is all cute there might be an underlying cause to make her stretch her frame like that. As if she is getting relief with the stretch.
Beautiful kitty with a checkerboard belly! He looks so serious while striking that pose, I can't stop laughing :)
Somewhere is a cursed amulet, connected to this cat's soul, and the victims of armed robbery...every time a person who possesses the amulet is robbed...the cat throws her hands in the air and the amulet changes hands, awaiting its next victim....... (cue creepy music).
shes being robbed by an invisible cat burglar :) yeah stupid humor I know.
Maybe she was stopped very frequently by the police in a past life as a human and told to put her hands up :)
Perhaps it's the completely misunderstood last survivor of a Japanese infiltration and sabotage unit, who is still trying to surrender 70 years after the end of WWII.
It's perfectly obvious. Kitty has quite a lot of black fur. Being highly intelligent (as are most cats) she is practising for when the police come to arrest her for a gun crime she didn't commit. She has decided that holding both hands high in the air might save her from being shot by some trigger-happy gun-man. She is hoping that she has just enough white in her fur to deter the policeman from shooting her.
i think he's very well aware of his checkerboard tummy, knows it's a unique fur coat, and he's simply pea-cocking for the camera!
If this is in America it is normal for blacks or mixed breeds to put their hands in the air isn't it .
its what you do when you don't want to be shot... which usually works, but isn't guaranteed. Biracial cat knows.
Forgive me, but this is an ad material. How about the caption "Please don't shoot. I'm not carrying." or "Black lives matter." or "Black and white life matters." I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. This kitty is adorable whether he/she has paws up or down. Very sweet.

To tell you something bad, i.e.a tumor, or somethings? If nothing, I just think that she likes your happy reactions. ????
I AM SO LAUGHING look at her face!!! in some shots it looks like she's saying "what you're going to do about THIS, HUH?" hahaha she's adorable!!!
That cat is definitely seeing something spiritual its owners aren't seeing.
My boy does this when he wants to be held, vertically, with front paws over my shoulder. If you don't lift him up in time he'll topple over waiting to be picked up. Why has no one tried to simply scoop him up like a child?!
My boy cat, Cocoa, does that when he wants me to hold him. You reach underneath and take him up, one hand under his butt, rest him against your chest to the left side, front paws over your shoulder, but on your hand or arm for support. Someone taught him to like being carried like a human as a child, it's obvious. Kittens that are held like that at an early age crave it for the rest of their lives.

Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here!! Smart kitty!
Or practicing to become a mime. He's got the black and white theme going for him.
It is a black cat... Depending on the neighborhood it's probably trying to not get shot. 9 live go quick with 10 bullets.
this is the song for this cat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR6eKmqSEa0
MISS KITTY, wante to show off her amazing fashion JERSEY!!! It looks great on her.
this cat is just showing that he need a hug to show his owner that food is not the only thing he desire :)
I've seen a video where a cute tuxedo cat does that with his owner to be picked up, maybe this is what this one wants too? LOL
Keys wants a belly rub. Mu dog does this when he wants his chest scratched.
I thinks it's to show off his fabulous chest markings. Wouldn't want to keep such art hidden!
showing off her beautiful tummy pattern .... ( IMHO she wanted to be famous on Bored Panda ) well done kitty !
Could be she Trying to be human.... Or waiting for someone to carry her
While the explanation from Melody Lanzatelly is probably true, I prefer to think that it's because the cat is a reincarnated basketball player.
Melody that actually makes a lot of sense and cats are smart enough to figure this out...it sure is a cute response!!!!
Simple, it's black and fears it's going to get shot by the cops. Mystery solved.
That's actually quite simple. She praises the Satan. All cats do that, but most of them more secretly.
He's a mostly-black cat, so he's saying, "Hands up! Don't shoot!"
