Of all the animals known to humans, none are as expressive as cats. With their widened eyes, open mouths and that “blep-y” tongue stuck out, felines have proved time and time again that they are the reigning supremes of facial expressions. Imgur user essimaria’s 4-year-old cat Nuka is no exception!

Yesterday, Essi shared some pictures of her cat experiencing outdoors as he was allowed on the balcony for the first and the kitten’s face says it all! “He has never been an outdoors cat and even if it would be an option here, he’s literally terrified of everything. He’s a scaredy-cat” explained Essi. That’s why balcony seemed like the perfect option, allowing Nuka experience the outside world without being overwhelmed as he could easily retreat to safety immediately. “As long as I am with him on the balcony he’s fine,” Essi told Bored Panda, “He’s curious and interested about birds […], but doesn’t seem to want to hunt them. He just sits and watches.”

While some suggested that Nuka’s derpy expression might be because of a medical condition, Essi clarified that she had a vet see him. “He has trouble with his motoric skills like jumping. He runs into walls a lot, [but] they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He’s living a normal kitty life and is a happy derp” the owner elaborated. For those worried about the kitty jumping out, Essi reassured that “the apartment complex I live in is going to have balcony windows installed”. Now scroll down and see the expressive kitty’s faces yourself!

Meet Nuka, an expressive 4-year-old kitty from Finland

Yesterday, his owner Essi shared Nuka’s first time outside as she took the cat to her new balcony

And the kitty’s face says it all!

“DID YOU SEE THAT HOOMAN?!!”

“He has never been an outdoors cat” said Essi

“He’s literally terrified of everything. He’s a scaredy-cat”

Being on a balcony is the perfect solution as Nuka can retreat to safety fast if things get overwhelming

However, he really enjoys his time on the balcony

“He’s curious and interested about birds […]. He just sits and watches”

Some have suggested that the kitty’s derpy face is a result of a medical condition

“He has trouble with his motoric skills like jumping. He runs into walls a lot…

“…, [but the vet] couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He’s living a normal kitty life and is a happy derp”

To make sure Nuka is extra safe in his outdoor endeavors, Essi said she plans to install balcony windows

We hope to see more of his interactions with the outside world and, of course, Nuka’s hilarious expressions

Aw, yes pls make sure he can't jump over the wall with the windows :/ Especially if he has issues with jumping/landing. Cats don't know how high up they are, they're not brave, just idiots xD But overall it's so nice when they get access to a balcony, my two furballs enjoy it as well :3 He looks like a goofball, very adorable.

Ah such an expressive cat, love him :3 I hope he is properly secured while in the balcony, wouldn't want that beautiful furball to get hurt <3

I had 2 crazy cats that probably didn't realize how high up we were in our highrise building. I made sure to have chicken wire installed from floor to ceiling so there was absolutely no chance of them falling out, and it kept the pigeons away too!

I am in love with this little derp! I would love for my 2 cats to be able to go outside as well as they have been indoors all their lives because of where we live. We have cougars, wolves, coyotes and other dangerous wildlife around here. I am going to look for a new place soon and one of the things it has to have is a way to build a catio for them. I love this idea for them!

Adorable! I'm glad that she's planning to install some windows. Other people made really good points on this about high-rise syndrome, and I agree with them. <3

If they never been outside they may get a lot of diseases like feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)

I had a cat exactly like him, color, eyes, and all. She had motor problems, too, but it’s simply because of the big eyes. It runs in the breed.

It makes no sense to me how someone who supposably loves an animal can basically keep them prisoner and not see the error in their ways.

I don't think he has a condition... he's just a silly fluff. Housecats are super relaxed around people (that they like). My own cats do silly stuff all the time.

Absolutely adorable! I have derpy cat too, when my father took care of her for the first time it took 15 minutes before he had to ask me if everything is alright with her. But she just doesn't always know how to cat and she just loves every living being with all her heart :)

Your first problem ... you let your INDOOR cat outside. You now have an OUTDOOR cat. He'll be sitting by the patio door every minute of the day meowing to be let out on the balcony. He'll soon figure out a way to get off the balcony to the ground.
