Spanish Dogs Stick Out Tongue To Their Hunters!

Who can clarify more clearly about grievances than those affected? And can dogs even enlighten?

In my pictures, the four-legged protagonists, all of them animal protection dogs from Spain, cheekily stretch their tongue out at the viewer in the pictures. But the tongue is not for the viewer, it is for their former owners, the spanish Galgueros. “We survived, we do not give up and do not tolerate the annual brutal disposal of thousands of our friends!” A silent contradiction of those affected dogs.

Even if the background of the topic is absolutely not laughable, the viewer of the pictures should be entertained and carried away. – Horrible images are presented in the media every day, dulling us and preventing accurate questioning. That is exactly what should not happen when viewing these dog-pictures. At first they smile, they fell in love with the dogs. Secondly, people understand what happens with these dogs if they are not rescued by an animal welfare organization. So the pictures and exhibitions open the eyes and minds of a lot of people. When that happens, I have reached one of my primarily goals: to achieve the attention for these dogs. Another goal is to give these dogs a lobby an a voice.

The depicted Galgos are rescued hounds from Spain, who were either for a short time in the hunt or were not “good for it”. They have taken a long and agonizing journey and now live with loving people in safety and are finally loved and kept as appropriate to the species.

In Spain at the beginning of October the owners of the greyhounds are looking forward to the beginning of the hunting season. Previously, the “Galgueros” bred and trained these dogs unchecked throughout the year. The now on every weekend held, colorful hunting spectacle is not used to secure their own supply of meat. Here fun and profit are in the foreground, a competition with high prize money, at the expense of the dogs and the game.

So that things may change soon for the mistreated creatures – and that perhaps after all you can move something in the mind of those who mistreat the dogs only for their amusement, the hunting and also for money. Everybody should know that every year mostly after the Spanish hunting season more than 50.000 galgos PLUS other hunting dogs like podencos, setter, bodegueros and others are disposed of – a lot of them being killed in horrific kind of ways.

“Free the galgo”!

Because it is import not only to rescue these dogs but also to make people aware and change something in the minds of the galgueros, the Spanish hunters.

Hi, my name is Marcus and i love to capture dogs. 2016 we adopt a spanish Greyhound, Mr. Loki! His story changed a lot in my life. Through Loki I got in touch with the circumstances in Spain and how these dogs are treated over there. Thousands of them are disposed of every year after the Hunting Season and when their owners see them as "no longer useful". So I began to take photos of my own dogs and posted pictures of them on Facebook and Instagram. I discovered the photography again for me and realized that I can move something with my pictures. Now i photograph dogs for al lot of Charity-projects in Germany. In most of my images you see rescued Spanish hunting dogs like galgos and podencos, you can see and feel how they now enjoy their life in freedom - loved and appreciated by their new families. I do only press the button of my camera, but the dog shares a specific moment with me through his gesture. You can perhaps call it the dog's statement to the whole situation. The dogs speak to me and share with me (and the viewer of the picture afterward) their special private moments. Often funny moments that also show how beautiful these dogs are. My works are only a way of delivering the message that is definitely send by the featured model, the dog. I give these dogs a voice.  About: The photography he operates again since 2016. After a break of almost 20 years and completely unrelated work, but constantly in the topic, Marcus discovered the photography through his dogs again for himself. The focus of his work determines the dog photography and in particular the characteristically slightly humorous portrayal of dogs in the studio. Marcus always supports various animal welfare projects and organizations with his work. In the course of time, the logo created on 01.08.2016, the hashtag #windhundgang established in his photos. Meanwhile, the pictures are shown worldwide in the media with the hashtag #windhundgang, both online and offline. Such as in the English "Daily Star" the "Kölner Stadtanzeiger", the "Kölnische Rundschau", the TV channel "WDR", the "ze.tt" magazine of the "Zeit" a.o. Also, his dog pictures could be presented to a wide audience at many exhibitions, e.g. at the Photo & Adventure Duisburg 2018, the Brücker Art Days 2018, at the Alexians 2018, in the Valid World Hall Gallery, Barcelona, Spain 2019 a.o.
