Artist Turns Everyday Objects Into Spaceship Designs, And The Result Is Out Of This World (11 Pics)

Software engineer & artist Eric Geusz’s work is proof that inspiration is everywhere around us. For quite some time now, Eric has been transforming common household objects into spectacular spaceship designs, and they’re completely out of this world. From a can opener to a game controller, everything can be a rocket in Eric’s mind.

“I have been drawing and making spaceships out of Legos since I saw Star Wars in 1997,” Eric told Bored Panda. “I’m a huge science fiction and fantasy fan, and often I find myself daydreaming, turning the world around me into my own world. I’m always inspired by the great artists of science fiction like Moebius, Ralph Mcquarrie, Chris Foss, Syd Mead and others. I used to love looking at concept art books as a kid (and still do). Some of my favorite video games are Homeworld, Mass Effect, and Halo.”

Eric encourages everyone to daydream more. “Spaceships are like dragons,” he said. “You are free to make them look however you want but how they make you feel is the most important.”

“Trying to come up with an original yet familiar design is definitely the hardest part,” Eric added. “There are so many good designs out there to pull inspiration from but I also try to find something unique. I make many sketches, sometimes starting completely over before I settle on something good.”

Very imaginative! It's so cool how he can kind of "see" the spaceship in everyday objects.

"I need a lemon and two spoons! Don't ask! I'm building a spaceship for us." He is a real MacGyver offspring ^^ Why do more and more authors at boredpanda feel compelled to "beautify" every post with tons of tweets?

It reminds me of the robotech space ship, I moved straight to the 80 'when I waited for the days to see the cartoon! They are magnificently executed !.

The last one reminds me of the Imperial Landing Shuttle! These are so cool! I've been wanting to design my own "Star Wars" ships for a while but never tried because I'm not an artist. I now have just been inspired though!

i love it =) looks very robotech or macross. feels like the key to turning objects into spaceships is to make some kind of utility of the weird shapes. what a great challenge!

[looks wistfully at awesome space ship illustrations] I love this!! This is how I used to see things as a child. I wish I still had it. I mean, I still sort of do, but I’ve long lost the motivation to do creative things (thanks to “practical employment” obsessions of my family and my culture, as well as a s****y advertising design art program I was in for a while, and several jobs full of sociopathic a******s that beat me into the ground).

When I was a little boy, anything I picked up was a space ship or fighter plane. He still sees the world this way.

These are absolutely fantastic! I used to dabble in writing Star Wars fanfiction -- would have LOVED to use some of these ideas. Hopefully someone from the publishing world, or the SW movie franchise will see these and pay him well for ships we might see in future movies.

Just saw these and sorry to say, but I wouldn't say the pics are "out of this world". The only one that seems to look decent is the fidgit spinner one. But the others look like a person trying too hard to make them look like space ships or whatever. It is a cute idea and a thing to do to pass time but its not OUT OF THUS WORLD!

Awesome! I bet this artist has like a pareidolia but he sees machines in everyday objects instead of faces!! So impressed... I love the ones so far from tech like a lemon! How cool.

He's good, but way behind. The special effects people working on Blakes 7 made a spaceship from a pair of hairdryers back in 1979. You can see it as part of the alien invasion fleet in the finale of 'Star One', at the end of the second series. (Blakes 7 was a notoriously underbudgetted show).
