I initially thought this was great. Finally millions of people will hear about the thousands of migrant slaves in the Middle East. Migrants are trapped, some commit suicide to escape, they live in worker camps where sewage leaks into their recreational areas because it’s cheaper for the company to pay a fine than it is for them to have the pipes repaired. Migrant workers have limbs amputated after workplace injuries, it’s cheaper for the company than surgery. They are then sent home with no compensation, sometimes unable to work again. I hoped this woman’s video would bring some awareness. But I see she still has 2.3 million followers. I suspected that Instagram addicts lived in a shallow fantasy world, they don’t want to hear bad news, they’re there to see pretty pictures. They seek out instaperfection, they desperately want to ‘connect’ with Instafamous twits and to hell with the migrant slave, she’s not Instaworthy. More like social influenza to me..

Please don't forget that modern slavery is not only caused by privileged middle east families but as well by the average consumer in Europe/Americas/Asia....even if the causation is a little harder to detect. It is past time that the government of the Philippines did something about creating jobs for their people at home instead of relying on the money that expats send home to their families to keep the economy running. During the 1970s they exported women as mail order wives to old men seeking sex slaves, now it is as maids to rich women seeking domestic slaves.
