There is a wide variety of comics out there in this day and age, and it all greatly depends on people's taste. Some like the edge, the dark humor, while others prefer some feel-good comics. There's no right way to enjoy a comic, and especially no right way to make one. But there is a style of comic that most would consider a classic. It's a short visual gag, usually comprising one panel, with as little wordiness as possible.

Some would consider Matt Reuter to be exactly one of those classically inclined comic artists who make their stuff in a time-tested and reliable way. But don't mistake them for old-fashioned, for they're anything but that. All of the absurdity of modernity and the spirit of our era is still in every panel, and tells a lot about our contemporary mode of living.

If you think that these comics came straight out of a newspaper, there's a reason why it may seem so. For a lot of time, before the internet was even a thing, newspapers were the main medium for comics. More often than not, these comics didn't have much newspaper space to develop an arc or a plot, so they had to be very concise and punchy. This format became a standard across many newspapers, such as The New York Times and others.

So, the perfect bottle would be the French one with a fake 50$ sticker with a taut naturel (?) label.

It can be both hard and easy to summarize what Reuter's comic's main topic is. On one hand, each of them have unique characters, backgrounds and themes, so there's no real topic that ties them all together, hence they're hard to summarize. On the other hand, if one were to look a little bit more closely, one would see that there is in fact an underlying theme: all of them mock and poke fun at our modern society and contemporary standards of living. However, this common denominator is very subtle, and the reader is locked into the particulars of each panel.

But what is this modern life commentary all about, really? What makes these comics so modernly ironic? If they capture the zeitgeist, then what is that geist (ghost) which we claim they have caught? Well, for one, these illustrations gratuitously comment on the modern technologies that everyone uses and, sadly, abuses. Then there's certain hot button issues that the artist subtly invokes. And of course, all of these scenarios, no matter how magical and unseemly they may seem, are locked within the typical milieu of our everyday lives, and are very recognizable.

Our contemporary way of life is a topic that keeps on giving, you just have to take the best of it. Self-irony is one of the key features of our age, and it seems only fitting to illustrate modernity in a similar fashion, like in Chiara Cosentino's works. Other artists prefer to be more wholesome in the way they approach the issues of society and injustice, like in the case of Blobby & Friends, a comic which recently became one of my favorites. And sometimes our world is so plainly ridiculous that one doesn't really need to add anything else to make it absurd, like in these. And if you want to visit the first part of Matt Reuter's comic, you can do it by clicking this link.

I was having issues with my headset during work. I had only one other one that didn't work well, either. My manager asks if I have any others. I'm like "Where do you think live? Best Buy?" XD

Try Colorado in spring. 80 then 40 in a few hours then snow followed by strong winds then back to 80.

When I was a kid in Hesperus, Colorado, we set a record high on July 4th, 1973 (102 F), had a cold front come through resulting in snow at 5pm, then had the wind blow the storm out so we could watch fireworks at 9:30pm in shorts.

Does it count as winter if it doesn't get below freezing?

Don’t like the weather in Texas in the winter ? Just wait a few minutes. It’s just like a teenage girl who can’t decide if she’s too fat or too skinny

I totally agree. I was a teenage girl, so indecisive. Nice defending yourself. People just CRAZY. I think the pandemic made a lot of people way too loud with their thoughts and feelings, and don't really think before opening their mouth (or typing). People forget that everyone has different thoughts and opinions about things and also different senses of humor. And these same aholes quick to twist things and take things out of context to get riled up or to get others riled up....in short their just bored or too up their own butts to realize how stupid they sound

Wow. Such offensive and hateful comments about women and eating disorders. You are about as rude and offensive as you can be in a post like this. Stop being a stupid, pos garden variety man. We've had enough of you and your type. You being very unwanted because of your opinions is probably why it's best you not go out much or talk to women.... at all really

I'm not sure if you're a woman or not, but you're still a cvnt "randompanda648" - As for me, a woman, I would much rather be around & have a conversation with Mr. Newsome than be stuck in the area with you. You're a horrid, wretched, miserable person. Get fawked.

Ok, a lot to unpack here. 1)Where in God’s holy name did I even mention eating disorders. 2)if you are offended by my comment, I’m genuinely sorry, but please know, I have a teenage sister, I’m a junior in high school, so I spend every freaking day with teenage girls who one day call themselves fat, then the next day they say they need to put on weight because they’re “too skinny to be healthy” to directly quote a friend of mine. I don’t know if you have had any interactions with teenage girls in the past 20 years, but I’m just offering my perspective so you may reconsider attacking me like that 3)I can tolerate a lot of things but not attacks on my intelligence. If you e known what I’ve gone through in the past 5 years with depression and suicide, you wouldn’t be calling me stupid and unoriginal 4) You’re seriously going to associate me with I’m assuming sexist bigots after reading ONE COMMENT? At least scroll through my profile and learn at least a little bit about me.

Try Florida anytime. Winter: 20°F—80°F. Spring: 55°F—85°F. Summer: 80°F—130°F. Fall: 60°F—100°F. All year 40% humidity if you’re lucky to 100% humidity if you’re a normal human.

Oddly, Ohio somehow has managed to adopt this behavior as well. Perhaps not as often as Texas at this point but there is annual progressiveness to more warm days.

It seems not much people here have been in Canada, where it can go from 15°F to 77°C the same day. Last week was full sun, 95°F. Now there are thunderstorms and 41°C.

Umm... Are you being funny or did you put accidentally put C in one then F in the other? Lol. I'm honestly confused cuz if I'm not mistaken those temps are pretty close. 15C is about 70 F and 41C is a touch above 95F. Or am I way off here? Forgive me if I am, I just had an edible. Lol

So reading the comments, I think it's pretty safe to say that the weather is pretty crazy everywhere in the spring. No different in the fall. I'm sure someone will jump on here though and tell me it's like that only where they live year round. Lol

Florida: there was hail a few minutes ago, now it’s dry on the ground but 100% humidity. Yesterday it was raining for 10 minutes then it was just hot and humid. Never been dry, only below 35°F for like 5 days max mid winter. You don’t know the weather until it happens.

Used to be New England was the region of unpredictable daily temperatures and weather. But, thanks to human-caused climate change, everyone gets to experience rapidly changing weather.
