30 Instances Of Single Moms Facing Online Backlash For Their Delusional Demands (New Pics)
InterviewBeing a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world. That’s why it’s crucial for moms and dads to have support systems they can rely on and friends they can share their experiences with. But there’s a big difference between finding a community of like-minded parents online to bond with and begging for handouts from others who can barely support their own families.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the most entitled posts from parents online that have been shared in the Single Mom Is Not a Coupon Code Facebook group. From asking for free furniture to fancy presents for their kiddos, enjoy scrolling through these posts, and keep reading to find a conversation with Mathieu Mall, one of the group's administrators!

Her Kids Have Dirty Clothes? She Doesn't Have A Sink?
Or a laundromat? Heck, or washing clothes in a sink, a bathtub, or a bucket, if she’s that desperate. My mom handwashed our clothes in a bucket with a washboard and hung them to dry during one of the rougher patches of my childhood.
The Facebook group Single Mom Is Not a Coupon Code has only been around since June 2022, yet it has already amassed over 105k members. It’s quite an active community as well, as there have been 15 new posts today, and 250 new members have joined in the past week. And while you might be thinking that this group is harmful to single parents, as it does shame some, it doesn’t call out anyone who didn’t already make unreasonable requests online.
The group also requires that anyone mentioned in a post must be kept anonymous, so nobody can be doxed or harassed online. From asking for car insurance payments to demanding that others help them put food on the table, there is no end to what parents will ask for online. And while community aid can be a powerful tool for those in need, it’s important to go about asking for help the right way. If you just bought a new car, and now you’re complaining about not being able to feed your kiddos, your priorities might not be in the right order.
A ‘Please’ And ‘Thank You’ Would Be Nice…
Also, she wants leather? She probably should get one made of marine upholstery that’s been Scotchguarded and then wrapped in plastic, if she’s got 3 kids. XD
To learn more about this group and how it started in the first place, we got in touch with Admin Mathieu Mall, who was kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda.
"This group comes from a joke between colleagues at work," he shared. "A female colleague who had become single started to ask us for more and more expensive services, like repairing parts of her car or giving her our old freezer, etc. The group was just a 'joke' between us, but as time went by, I saw that it was common on social networks to make similar requests."
Is that all I need to do to be able to ignore parking laws? Just write a note....got it. Oh wait! You mean you'll still ticket me? But I wrote a nice little note...../s
Mathieu added that he doesn't often see this behavior in France, but he's noticed these kinds of posts becoming more and more common online. And because there are so many funny posts being shared in the group, he has a hard time choosing a favorite.
But the administrator did want to make it clear that he has mixed feelings about the group, noting that he understands where these parents are coming from. "I don't hate single women or those who call for help on the internet," he told Bored Panda. "I think it's a desperate act motivated by a real need: to survive. I'm no one to advise people on how they should lead their lives, or how to survive it. I think in their place I'd do the same if it really worked," he admitted.
Mathieu went on to note that although there's a funny side to this group, there's also a dark side to it that he takes very seriously. "It's a breeding ground for racists and people with various problems," he noted. "The consequences are often nasty, such as extreme stalking which has even led to someone losing their job. And it often happens that this kind of behavior is reported to me, or the harassment of a single person recognized via their post. I never tolerate this kind of behavior, and it's banned directly."
I Finally Found One In The Wild
"By the way, this group would be nothing without the wonderful co-admin: Cayla Hrycyschyn," Mathieu added. "Yes, the group is mainly run by a single woman! She's the one who administers almost everything and keeps the group alive. Thanks Cayla!"

According to the Pew Research Center, the United States has the highest rate of kids living in single-parent households in the world. Nearly a quarter of kids in the US live with only one parent, while globally, only about 7% of children do. After the US, the UK, São Tomé and Príncipe, Russia and Denmark have the next highest rates of single-parent households, Finances Online reports.
And the vast majority of single parents who live with their kiddos are mothers. In the United States, there are nearly 15 million single moms taking care of their families, while there are only 6.5 million single fathers taking care of their kiddos. In fact, women between the ages of 35 to 39 have a 9% chance of being a single parent in the US, while men only have a 2% chance of being single parents.

Unnecessarily snarky on this one, I think. Single min gives context a to why she might be clueless/stressed out, probably doesn't have a lot of time.
So... her baby was born at 6 months gestation and that put her into a coma for several months and she woke up paralyzed from the waist down and can't work? I'm sorry to be so cynical, but who was caring for her older child during this time? How were any of the NICU/medical bills being handled? If all these things happened, maybe her 9-year-old doesn't need a PS4 and she should use that $70 towards necessities.

There’s no question that single parents face additional challenges that married or coupled moms and dads don’t have to worry about. According to Finances Online, 60% of poor children in the United States live in households with single moms. In fact, nearly a third of kids who live in families with unwed moms are in poverty, while only 15% of families with single dads are in the same boat. Single parents spend an average of 34% of their income on childcare in the US, while most families only need to spend around 10% of their income on childcare.
Single mom....... pregnant with twins........ 7 other kids. I... I just can't. I'm literally speechless.
"Hi. I Need You To Take Care Of My Kids All The Time Without Expecting To Be Compensated Much For Your Time, Oh, And That Time Starts At 4 Or 5 In The Morning"
Being a single parent can make it much more difficult to work 40 hours a week, to have time to prepare healthy meals for the family, to spend quality time with your little ones and to be able to ever relax and unwind by yourself. Growing up poor can also have a huge impact on children’s well being, and they might have experienced trauma through watching their parents divorce or losing a beloved parent from their life. Whether a parent passed away, left by choice, was arrested, etc., their absence can have a huge impact on their children.

I swear if people got so mad about politicians and preachers asking for money, as they do about moms asking for help...we might make some important progress

Because single parents and children of single-parent households face so much adversity, the Annie E. Casey Foundation is dedicated to providing resources to make their lives easier. This foundation is focused on strengthening financial safety net programs and providing affordable housing for families, ensuring that education is affordable and accessible for all children, maximizing two-generation community development strategies to help kids and their future families, offering support for kids and families who have experienced trauma and supporting the needs of young parents.

Had To Throw It In At The End For Absolutely No Reason
If she was driving around her regular car and didn't have her actual driver's license on her, boy is she lucky she didn't get pulled over by the police for any reason at all. That's a dumb risk to take.
Yeeeeaaah, there's a thing called a "bus"? You may have seen it? New fangled invention with lots of seats and windows? Person up front drives it? You pay a small amount of money and it goes near where you want it to go. Think of it as a multi-person, multi-directional Uber. Or, and get this, there's something totally remarkable as a personal travel device...? It has two wheels that turn when you push the pedals round. It's called a bicycle.
"I make poor choices and I keep the company of other people who make poor choices. So, I don't see why I should have to follow the same rules as all the other people who make good choices. And I'm a breeder too."
So she’s been driving without a license? Is there no bus service to the DMV to get a replacement license, even if she has to go there with her kid(s) in tow, as I have seen many women do numerous times over the years?
In some states they issue a paper copy until your actual license comes in. It works to drive with but many places of business won’t accept it.
Load More Replies...I had to put my car in the shop. I went to a major car rental business but since I did t have a credit card they wouldn’t rent to me. So, I went to U-haul and rented a van for $20 a day.
Just get a new driver's license card might possibly fix the problem? And if there's some problem why you can't, that might be worth mentioning. Like "can't get document I need from my ex's place"

I can't speak for OP but I'm personally eight miles from the highway which is then twenty minutes to the nearest town. Your bus comment is great for someone in an urban area, but completely unrealistic for 90%of the country.
According to Marriage.com, some of the biggest hurdles single parents face are loneliness, navigating disciplining their children, dealing with low self-esteem, feeling a sense of guilt and navigating the financial burden of raising kids alone. But thankfully, there are a few solutions that can make parents’ lives slightly easier. When it comes to dealing with loneliness, Marriage.com recommends replacing negative thoughts with positive thinking.
“Redirect your energy to more productive activities. If you are in the custody of the children, then spend time with them. Remember, they look up to you for their emotional needs,” they note. “Similarly, the partner with no children must go the extra mile to socialize and engage in community activities to pass the time rather than wallow in pity.”
I Finally Found One, Lol
So... breast implants/tummy tuck for Mommy is more important than providing for her kid(s)? Plastic surgery is serious, actual SURGERY (my mom has had many many procedures done) that requires weeks of recovery time. How is she going to care for/provide for her kids while recovering?
No Please, No Thank You And You Have To Deliver. Can't Even Provide Her Own Toilet Paper?
Just as a point of reference, the cheapest 2015 Honda Odyssey I see on KBB in my area is $13,000 XD
When it comes to disciplining kids as a single parent, Marriage.com recommends regularly touching base with the other parent, if they’re still in the picture, to ensure that you both instill the same rules in your kids. If you’re the only parent around, it might be wise to reach out to close friends or family members who can help ensure that your rules and morals are understood by your kiddos. If you’re struggling with low self-esteem, don’t be afraid to reach out to parents in similar situations or a therapist who can help you build confidence.
Your problem with healthcare as I see it, is you live in the US. Meanwhile in the UK - operation is free. Oh, the other problem is that you have a credit card you've maxed out. Credit cards aren't a necessity. Millions live quite adequately with just a debit card and a small thing called "being a financially responsible adult". You should try it some time.

Again, how dare someone struggling and overwhelmed by responsibility, ask for help. I do hope she at least found someone willing to help her transportation issues. Funny how there's no single dad's page making fun of the parent...gotta be American as I am.
If you’re struggling with guilt as a single parent, remember that this is not productive. Do not blame yourself for the situation you’re in, and remember that you have to be there for your kiddos. You’re doing the best you can, and there’s no such thing as a perfect parent, anyway.
And when it comes to the financial burden of raising kids, don’t be afraid to explain to your little ones that money is tight. But assure them that you’re all safe and that they have nothing to worry about. Making ends meet will take some extra sacrifices as a single parent, but it will be worth it to raise happy, healthy children who always know they’re loved.

If you have pets or children, sometimes you go hungry so that the vulnerable, helpless living beings that YOU are responsible for do not go hungry. Coffee is absolutely unnecessary.
Literally, What Was The Need To Even Mention The Relationship Status Or Mobility??
Mobility: she may not be able to pick it up. Single: don't tell her to have her husband put it up. The picture: annoys me. Shouldn't matter what she looks like.

This is just wild- inviting total strangers including spouses and kids to a baby shower solely to obtain gifts. Honestly, I'd respect the "I'm a single mom, please help" approach more than this entitled mess.

Load More Replies...There is a difference between asking and demanding. The last one fits the term "entitled". The first does not. And then there's also begging. While you could say, begging is "dirty" - sometimes it's needed because do YOU approach a person and giving them money, food, clothing when they don't ask? No, because sometimes you can't see on the outside what they need. If you need something, you can ask. If you want something, you can ask. Can you ask for non-essential stuff? Ofcourse! Poor people want to LIVE, not just survive. Most of these were just shaming a person for using the term "single mom" - most were people asking for things, not demanding. A few were rude, mostly the sob stories in private messages. But come on. So many of these were not sob stories but just giving more info.
some of these are horrible and entitled, but there are a few that are genuinely polite, offer to pay, etc. and in that case adding you are a single mom just adds a bit of context (like being stuck with child care and currently short of a hunky male to carry a washing machine) I do judge people with 7 kid however, that's unnecessary.
This only criticizes the moms, but it doesn't criticize rightwingnuts for their "abstinence only sex ed", their bans on abortion (or murdering doctors for providing care), their opposition to paying a living wage, their opposition to maternity leave, their opposition to affordable health care, etc. Rightwing christonutbags are to blame for a lot of this.
Wow. Stuff like this article are the reason people automatically treat single mom's like trash. Sure, there are a few entitled posts here if you ignore the posts asking to pay for help, asking for essentials, or explaining their need of advice with "I'm a single mom", but how many of the entitled ones are even real? Do people seriously think women "became" single moms to live entitled? People always yell "leave him!" "Run!" about an abusive/manipulative/cheating partner, and yet the now single mother gets mocked and is considered disgusting and entitled. It is beyond stupid and straight up hate. Whomever created this article has serious issues.
No, dearie, entitled single mums are the reason.
Load More Replies...A lot of harsh and judgmental reactions. Can't say I've been in the OPs' positions but I do know what anxiety, despair and overwhelm feel like, and I suspect that's where many of these are coming from. It's OK to ask for help when you're struggling.
Quite a few of these posts don't seem entitled and are people who are struggling and are just asking for help. We shouldn't be so judgemental. Also, things like taking the bus or washing clothes by hand takes hours of time and are extra difficult when you have kids and are already stretched to the limit when you do it by yourself. Where are the Dads in all this? Maybe it's about time for a post shaming those deadbeats for leaving their children in poverty.
Why is it that 99% of the time when a couple split up, the man says "I'm leaving you with all these kids," and the woman just shrugs with, "Uuuuh, okay, I guess I have no choice now."?!?!?! If it's gonna happen, I would LOVE to see more situations where Dad says he's leaving and ditching her with the kids but then Mom flips the situation, SHE leaves, SHE pushes the children off on the father, SHE may (or may not) pay child support, SHE proceeds to have a better life sans rugrats, SHE has a good job, SHE can feed herself, etc. etc. Why do women think that because the baby came from her body physically that they MUST be the sole parent now? The woman should leave the babies with the dad..chances are the mother would still do her share of the parenting instead of all of it. I wanna see all the single dad's having to lower themselves to begging, unable to find work, looking strung out and having uncontrollable weeping due to exhaustion, not eating or sleeping.....
Maybe it's harder for the moms to leave their children. How can the men just ditch their children?

There are certainly a few scammers in this list. I wouldn't trust the ones asking for money, no matter how sad their story is. The ones with real needs get a bad reputation because of them.
