Quite the opposite, bring as few things as possible and avoid these bigger than big wallets. You pretty much only need a credit card and your passport that you keep secured and somewhere else some cash and transport tickets.

Couldn’t upvote this more; wish I could. But even very reliable sources like Reader’s Digest cannot stray very much from “beaten paths” that far – which is a good thing after all. The real hidden paths are only accessible via a) the guiding help of locals, or b) being an experienced local citizen yourself. Travel guides that claim to be an exception from these rules luckily cannot know. The “rabbit hole” is much, much deeper.

Pardon me, but in my experience that only applies to very extended periods of time – like several years or more. It’s definitely not applicable for travels shorter in time than that. In shorter terms, cooling or even freezing won’t affect power-reliability of your batteries in any way.

If you add luggage, make sure you stay in the weight requirement by using a portable luggage scale.
