Meet Marnie, An 18 Y.O. Instagram Dog-Star With Almost 2 Million Followers And Friends Like Taylor Swift And Demi Lovato
It's not difficult to argue that animals are, perhaps, the most favorite thing of all the internauts. Especially the cutesy cats and adorable dogs with distinct features or just a general joyful attitude, as the likes of the late Grumpy Cat and Venus the Two-Faced Cat showcase. One of such animals, beloved by the internet, is Marnie, an absolutely adorable pet dog with a funny facial expression.
Marnie always has her tongue out and looks youthful for her solid age, full 18 years! Another characteristic this silly dog is famous for is her permanent head tilt to the left, which is a result of vestibular disease. The famous dog has almost 2 million Instagram followers and is beloved by many. And we surely can see why!
The owner uses their cute dog's popularity to advocate for the adoption of senior dogs. "Senior rescue dogs are known for being especially grateful and loyal to their new owners for giving them a second chance on life, and Marnie lives every day exemplifying this joy and gratitude," Marnie's website description explains. It also states that Marnie is the most popular rescue dog on Instagram. "If you see her in the streets of NYC, please say hi," her bio concludes.

Marnie is a rescue dog and was saved off the streets at the sturdy age of 10. She was first called "Stinky" after Animal Control found her smelly and matted on the streets of Connecticut in August 2012. Her website briefly describes Marnie's origins and humble beginnings:
"She went unclaimed and was moved to a shelter where they named her Stinky. After 4 months at the shelter she was adopted via a petfinder.com post. They said she was blind in her left eye, which looked gray & cloudy, and she would never see from that eye again. She also really did smell bad."
"Stinky took a MetroNorth train with her new bae Shirley down to her new home in NYC and stunk up the whole train. She was soon renamed Marnie after musician Marnie Stern, and started smelling nice after 14 decaying teeth were extracted," Marnie's website further details her history. Apparently, the dog's tongue was always stuck out the way it is now, even before her teeth were removed. "The reality is Marnie just has a long tongue, and has always had a long tongue, and its awesome, and she licks it every few minutes to keep it from getting too dry, and when it’s snowing she puts her tongue back in. Marnie’s eyes are the window to her soul, but much can be gleaned from the status of her tongue."
Despite everyone being convinced that Marnie was blind in one eye, after the pooch was adopted the cloudiness in Marnie’s left eye slowly began to clear up and it was soon pretty clear that she can see just fine! "As Marnie became more comfortable and confident in her new home, her personality began to shine through. When the bae started to take Marnie out to small parties and social situations, Marnie felt happier than ever."
As for what Marnie enjoys most? "Marnie’s favorite activity is running up and down long carpeted hallways. She also enjoys smelling everything especially grass, exploring new spaces, long walks in nice weather, partying, and lots and lots of sleeping." Turns out, amongst Marnie's favorite meals are broccoli, chicken, watermelon, muffins, greek yogurt and eggs. The pooch is not an avid fan of baths and "the only thing she truly hates is being left home alone, and she experiences a lot of anxiety when this happens". When alone at home Marnie won't even touch her favorite treats until her owner returns."So basically, Marnie gets to go everywhere," the site's description concludes.
