My name is Marie Cohydon and I'm a French artist, who creates sculptures for about ten years under the microscope. I choose multiple materials which have their own qualities and difficulties.
Graphite is a beautiful material that shines brightly when polished. It is this silver luster that I strive to obtain with each of my pieces using tools which I designed myself. Friable and brittle matter, I never lose sight of the fact that I have to be very careful not to guillotine my sculptures with the scalpel or excess of zeal at any moment.
At the top of these graphite leads, one realizes that the earth trembles, that the breath of the breath is a sirocco, that the heartbeats are cannon shots carried at the end of the finger.
I must admit that sometimes it gets me frustrated but I accepted the rules of this game for a long time and I'm looking forward to confronting it. It always starts from a precise design that will only rarely be respected because of the many surprises imposed by the material. My sculptures are therefore the fruit of personal creation and destiny.
