Fashion can be, at times, a bit confusing. While there certainly are concepts and styles that we mere mortals simply can’t comprehend, there are also a decent amount of designs that look more like an accident in a garment factory.
The evocatively named “You can’t just slap some fabric together and call it a dress” Facebook group is dedicated to shaming the absolutely worst dress designs out there. So get comfortable as you scroll through, be sure to upvote the worst fashion victim and share your thoughts in the comment section below.

It Had To Be Said
We Might Need A New Group Called “You Can’t Just Slap A Stuffed Animal On It And Call It A Dress”
Kanye's wife. There's something very sad going on with her. So desperate for attention she walks around almost naked, but too unsure of herself to actually let it all hang out. Head down, no smile, clutching a childs toy to cover her nakedness, its almost like she's ashamed to be seen.
Not A Dress But Wtf Balenciaga. Almost 1k For A Towel Wrapped Around The Waist? No Thanks
Have the exact same towel i bought in dunnes im gonna wear it out 2nite, might go mad and add a shower cap "incase" it rains in Ireland ☘️
While it’s a very valid question to ask “Who even designs these things?” it’s also important to consider who buys them. In some cases, it’s very obviously a model on a runway. For better or worse, they don’t really have a choice, they are just a canvas for someone to showcase their clothing.
However, some of these images are clear cases of fashion victims. If you have not encountered this term before, here is a crash course. Fashion, trends, and fads are ceaseless, year to year, season to season, even month to month. Some people not only don’t know how to keep up but don’t really know where good taste starts and ends. Some of the individuals in this list no doubt fall into this category.
Oh Man…
I Saw This On Insta Earlier And Knew Where It Belonged. I Absolutely Hate It, But I Wanna Know What Others Think
After all, to an untrained and somewhat tasteless eye, some of these downright terrible dresses are, instead, provocative and “different,” never mind the fact that they look terrible. Of course, the most common way to do this is to simply buy whatever is most expensive, preferably with a gaudy, outward-facing logo. The fact that the item might not actually look good is completely secondary.
I’m Torn Because At First It Looked Cool But Then You Realize She’s Wearing Butter Knives
Kendall Jenner Strikes Again. What Is This Supposed To Be?? A Diaper?
To be fair her job is to wear the outfits and get paid a ridiculous amount of money for it... if I looked like her and was offered 10k to walk down a runway in half a giant chef's hat then I'd do it
Saving For National Dress As Your Favourite Vegetable Day
Fashion experts actually have a term for this, the “walking billboard.” Most famous brands do have cheaper items, perhaps for casual use, like sweatpants. These items have relatively visible logos and slogans, as they tend to be pretty plain otherwise. Unfortunately, the popularity of this trend means that many companies are “moving” their labels from the inside to the outside.
What In The Happy Hell Is Going On Here? (Phaedra Parks)
Tasha Ghouri At The British Fashion Awards
4500$ Absolutely Not
Perhaps this can somewhat explain the design choices seen here. After all, if famous household names seem to have no taste, then why shouldn’t some up-and-coming designer not try and make a name for themselves? The penalty for a terrible design might just be a bit of attention, which is hardly a bad thing these days.
Not Cute At All
Ok, But What?
Hmm
I Finally Found One! Ellie Goulding Performing At A Recent Concert - Wtf
Not Covering Her Face Bc She’s A Model But Cmon Now Shein What The Hell Is This
Look At This
Bruh
Found On Shein Not Even Real Jean Just Printed On
This looks vastly better than 99% of the other dresses here. Also because it actually covers the wearer.
One Thousand Dollars For Denim Circles Sewn Together
yes, extremely reasonable. maybe it’s aussie dollars? still too much tho
Load More Replies...Is anyone else reminded of those 70s divider curtains except they were in some combination of yellow red and brown?
I wish there wasn't that cut out but otherwise I think it's kinda cool.
No, a $1,000 "upcycled" dress will not make you woke, even if it's 30% off.
It looks more like it's 80% off.
Load More Replies...Friends and family discount 🙈 i would be shocked if even 1 person on earth bought this
Have you seen the Teletubbies collab?? All sold out
Load More Replies...And here I thought that upcycled meant making something useful out of old stuff.
Okay, this is so bad, but my great aunt used to take these circles and sew them together to make a blanket back in the twenties and she taught me how to do this in the 80’s. I never in my life thought I’d see it as a garment. Just wow 😮
I Did Not Erase Her Head, She Did That Herself
Excuse Me Ma'am What Is On Your Arm Hand Waist Feet
What. Is. This
Really? The Cut Out Up Too Is Bothersome And Not The Chunk Of Leather Hanging At The Bottom???
Huh?
We're Just Not Gonna Talk About Demi Lovato?
Slapped Some Spider Web Decorations From Spirit Halloween Together And Called It A Dress?
They call it high fashion because it only looks fashionable when you're high.
Why is it that my first thought on most of those is how in the hell do you go to the bathroom in that???
a loophole, helps if you're rich and famous also I guess. Or at "special event"..
Load More Replies..."Both Shein and Temu have been accused by a House committee of using forced labor from the autonomous region of Xinjiang in China."
Load More Replies...okay but most of these are just designer fashion? like no they're not practical, but they're not meant to be worn everyday, either. they're art
A lot of these dresses were bad but holy s**t everyone was so damn hateful in this thread. You can't even keep the topic on the dress and instead go for "funny" personal attacks and roasts. All of you here are so mean for no reason. This is why I hate places dedicated to making fun of things because it inevitably devolves into plain bullying rather than just silly fun.
Yes, some of these posts I think are actually designed to let the dogs out. It's not pretty reading and ruins any joy you might possibly get out of it.
Load More Replies...I truly do not understand how any of this is considered fashion. It is utterly ridiculous how this garbage is even worn in public or on a runway. Designer's are so very out of touch with real people.
it's because a lot of this is more art than fashion, and art is very lucid
Load More Replies...It seems like waddling is the height of fashion nowadays! I seriously don't see how you could move in most of these things...
A lot of these dresses seem well constructed and just not my personal taste, those don't bother me one bit and I feel they shouldn't be shamed. Although, I'm no saint, those camo wedding dresses do get judgy looks from me.
Zara photos are a joke and so are Balenciaga's designs and prices. Shein is like a fever dream but l like its chaotic energy.
$h!+ like this is why I'm not into 'fashion' shows or even keeping up with the latest trends...jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers, baby. A couple of dresses in my closet, just in case.
My old friend used to work at an American Legion in the US. They had a wedding there one time where the bride was about 8 months pregnant. She had a long white wedding dress that looked pretty standard. Except there was a large diamond shape cut out in the front. The top was between her breasts. The bottom was about 2 millimeters above her pubic hair. This was to expose her pregnant belly.
Pretty soon the red carpet will be just a bunch of naked people walking down it.🤪😉
I appreciate that someone might like to flaunt their best a$$ets, but all these outfits (except for Tilda Swinton's) did nothing to complement their looks...
These aren’t anywhere near “high fashion”, because they’re not clothing. They’re costumes, and lunatic fringe costumes at that. The women either look like strippers or caricatures. They all look ridiculous. I will wager good money that each and every one of them will greatly regret giving in to this trashy trend. I look for the day when timeless beautiful understated elegance comes back to high fashion. Clothing that people can actually wear, not overpriced walking art installations that look like they were designed by toddlers.
Seems like there are some women who believe the public talking about their clothing or lack there of, admire them, find them sexy, or find them interesting. Mostly the public finds them pathetic for such a desperate ploy to be noticed .
Wearing lingerie in public. Hm. Well, yellow press loves it but I don't see those women "dressed". It is more like "I am wearing my nice underwear but I forgot to put my dress on."
What do their grandmother's think?! It gets to a point where you might as well not wear anything
There are a lot of misanthropic people-haters in the fashion industry.
If people want to walk around leaving nothing to the imagination they should probably just go nude at that point. You couldn't catch a fish with most of these.
