Dutch Artist Creates Wind-Powered Walking Sculptures

Theo Jansen is an artist from Netherlands. But not any kind of artist! He creates sculptures, or “skeletons”, as he calls them, that “walk on wind”! By using yellow plastic tubes, the artist attempts to create “new forms of life”.

Over time he was able to make structures more resistable to wind and water. Theo Jansen’s ultimate aim is to release these beautiful “animals” at the beach and let them lead their own lives.

Theo’s creations move freely with the wind on the beach

These not only walk along the beach but they avoid the water and back up after colliding with an obstacle.

They move beautifully, but I don't care for the idea of leaving them to "live their own life" There is enough plastic pollution as it is in the oceans.
