My two daughters aged 5 and 7 decided to have some fun making a same-sex Barbie wedding, which I helped to photograph! I am privileged to be bringing up my girls in a very diverse family from an LGBTQ+ perspective.

They know that on one side Grandma is married to Grandad and on the other Gran's partner is Nonna (Italian for Grandma). They have been bridesmaids for aunts and uncles in straight relationships and also groomsmaids when Uncle Benjie married Uncle Anthony. They have enjoyed spending time with my cousin and her lovely wife and they are also excited to meet a few new baby cousins later this year. One will have a Mummy and Daddy and one will have two Mummy's.

I just love seeing how their understanding of the world is reflected in their play and that they know that at the end of the day love is love. These photos were posted to a family Facebook group and we received 15k positive reactions.
