As I work every day with the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry, I am well aware of the needs of audio preservation. For every song you have stored in your “cloud,” there are dozens that are becoming inaccessible every year and every day.

I'm also aware of how much people’s music means to them. To that end, I asked friends, co-workers and acquaintances if they would be willing to take a “sound selfie” - picture of them holding up some favourite tunes on whatever media they still have and love.
