We all know what it feels like to be hangry. It can become hard to see in color,  and every mild irritation feels like the end of the world. When most of us feel that way, we conserve the energy we do have by keeping quiet and finding a way to eat as soon as possible. Whether that means making food ourselves or purchasing it somewhere, getting fed is the priority. If someone else is providing you food, they are a hero in that moment, and it only makes sense to treat them as such. They deserve kindness because they are saving you from the monster of hanger inside.

However, one woman who visited Gino’s Cheese Steak & Onion earlier this year clearly needs a lesson on how to appropriately handle herself while waiting for food. The restaurant owners were not having her bad behavior, so below, you’ll find a post from the Fayetteville, New York, based sandwich shop where they called out this particularly unruly customer, as well as some of the replies the post received. We’d love to hear what you think about this situation in the comments, but if you’re becoming a hangry panda right now, be sure to grab a snack first. We wouldn’t want to have to publicly shame you for being too rowdy in the comments…

Gino’s Cheese Steak & Onion has quite the online presence, as they have 24k followers on Facebook, but it’s not surprising at all when you start reading the reviews. You can scroll through dozens of glowing reviews from satisfied customers featuring drool-worthy pictures of their food. But aside from how amazing everyone says the food is, there is another aspect almost every review mentions: how great the staff is. It is clear from almost every single review that customers are consistently impressed with the food and the service they receive at Gino’s, so I’m sure it’s a rare occurrence for a customer to freak out like this woman who broke their $200 sign. If she had just waited patiently like every other customer in the establishment, she likely would have loved her sandwich and had a great experience.

Many of the commenters stood behind Gino’s for holding customers accountable

Whether this particular woman was more upset because she was having a bad day or because she was extremely hungry, we’ll never know. But neither is a reason to take it out on the staff, spew profanities through the restaurant and damage property. And while most of us know how to behave even when we’re hungry or having a rough day, our society’s focus on instant gratification might be a factor in some customers’ lack of patience. According to an Oracle report on restaurant trends in 2022, 76% of customers are annoyed when they have to wait 10 minutes or more to receive their food after ordering at a counter. When we have access to almost anything whenever we want it, we have a hard time waiting for just 10 minutes for a great meal.

We reached out to Gino’s to hear if they were ever able to track Rebecca down, but we have not heard back yet. I hope that she was held accountable for the expensive sign, but I’m sure after being publicly ridiculed online, she learned her lesson. Employees in the service industry are treated terribly from entitled customers every day, but this woman really takes the cake. So the next time you eat out, please make a point to treat the employees extra kindly and leave them a nice tip. For all you know, they could have had a crazy lady screaming profanities at them only an hour prior.

What the f**k is wrong with that person who said that the last business to publicly call her out is no longer in business? If customers can resort to social media, so can businesses and that half a*s mob attitude is out of line.

Agree! Also, she was throwing a tantrum in public. It's not like this was inside her house, and it was not a private disagreement. She wanted a public scene; she got one.

I get people can have bad days, but don't take it out on the people making your food or any sort of retailer for that matter. Especially the moment you curse them out and destroy their property. While I agree the restaurant should have reported this to the police first, I am also perfectly fine with them putting her on blast on social media.

I get it too. Police probably have bigger fish to fry than $200 property damage. Restaurants run on super tight budgets so this may be them trying to recoup their loss more quickly, seeing as this could be of lower priority to law enforcement.

I don't see a problem with this business publicly calling her out because they are trying to find out who she is so they can be reimbursed for property damage. She committed a crime. That isn't "bullying" her. Hopefully someone will identify her.

As someone who works in tax accounting, trust me when I say her clients probably already have an idea about what kind of person she is and none of them are going to care about her rants. No one in accounting would ever dare share their personal grievances about a local business to rich clients because, for all you know, they own that business.....

That really depends on the type of accounting she does. My mom works for an accounting firm that does all the bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, etc for several smaller businesses. A couple years ago a competitor did something similar which was witnessed by a client with actual clout. Within a month all of his clients cancelled thier services with him and went to my mom's office or the only other one in the area offering those complete services. They see them at least once a week and dont want to be dealing with bad attitudes and really dont want thier employees mistreated.

Having a bad day, or your food arriving 1 minute late does NOT give you permission to cause vandalism or damage property that doesn’t belong to you. Personally, I hope they find her and hold her accountable for her extremely poor behavior.

Clearly they don't post about every average rude customer. They serve a S**T TON of people. So to make the social.media a*****e hall of fame, you have to be a real special type of a*****e. And when you work in food service (and retail, etc), you deal with an amount of adult tantrums and utter b******t that is inconceivable to a person having a so called bad day ...we all have bad days but don't inflict them on people

It doesn't matter what a person is going through, it's no reason to treat others like garbage. If I'm having a bad day I limit my interactions. My bad day is my problem. Leave it at home. That women is 100% blame. Losing her temper over 1 minute? Cussing out hard working staff? Breaking restaurant porperty? Should have called the cops then and there. You have (i assume) footage of her and eye witness accounts. For anyone defending her. Bad day or not. Thats not how a "respected accountant" or ANY adult should act. 100% the restaurant was in the right here. When an individual bashes other people and businesses it's free speech. Businesses have that same right. If anything they've given other businesses a heads up to the disgusting behavior of this woman. Anyone that would stand behind her actions and make excuses for her are no better than she is. Personally I wouldn't want her, anyone like her, or anyone that would defend her darkening the door of my establishment in the first place. Making excuses for this type of behavior breeds more of the same. If I were in the restaurants shoes I'd do everything in my power to make sure she was held accountable for her behavior and destruction of property. Hitting her in the pocketbook may be the only thing that will get her attention to change her terrible ways.

First off, to the people that say this is bullying, get a grip on reality. This is in no way, shape or form; bullying. If it is, then every parent that ever posted about thier child misbehaving in public are bullies according to you. The women was clearly acting like a child and an adult (Gino's) called them out on it. It's called being held accountable for your actions, not bullying. Secondly, by Gino's calling her all this way and not calling in the police is straight up class on Gino's part. They are allowing her to make right what she clearly did wrong. Otherwise, based off the post this women is facing at the least, 3 misdemeanors. Disorderly conduct, aggravated harassment, and criminal mischief. Together she could face up to 3 years in jail and pay upwards of a $25,000 fine. All for having a bad day and breaking a $200 sign. Most people are not extended that luxury and are faced with the consequences when law enforcement gets involved. Hats off to you Gino's.

Had this one Karen incident. She didn't really break anything, but she was trying to convince the rest of my line that I stole her money--the store phone was ringing, so I was expected to deal with a potential customer over phone WHILE ringing up the line. Turned to answer the phone and this woman threw a 20 over the counter, and the fan behind me blew it back over her side of the counter. Now she starts wailing and shrieking that I'm a thief and a b***h and a whore. Words I've been called before that literally hold no value to me personally, so I asked her "are you sure you didn't drop it?" "No I watched you put it in your pocket!" Well s**t, idk I did that. I told her "you sure you don't need a minute to look for it?" "No just get your manager." Manager walked by, saw the bill at her feet and was like "you mean THAT 20?" I look over the counter and back at the customer. "Yeah that's the one I was told I stole." She canceled the transaction and left. Left the bill behind, too!

"Remind me to never visit your restaurant. So unprofessional. You never know what a person is going through." There are limits to behavior. My blood sugar drops every few hours because my pancreas is garbage. I had to temporarily stop my antidepressants recently for other reasons. Basically my normal low sugar anger has been kicked up to ten. You know what I did today when I was pissed and waiting for food? I waited. I talked politely. I have snapped at people in the past. And you know what I do? I recognize that it's inappropriate behavior, apologize, and don't continue to repeat the behavior. Because that's what you do when you are an adult. If you are incapable of stopping yourself from screaming, insulting, belittling, and breaking things because of your anger, you are in need of help and are likely damaging your closest relationships, if not being outright abusive. Please seek help.

The people who are calling the business out for exposing her behavior are probably act the same way when they don't get their way. Why not publicly shame her when her actions were in public? As for the people who are saying that she might just had a bad day so the behavior is excusable, Please let everyone know where you work at so when we're having a bad day we know where we can act a fool and nobody would care and just write it off that I'm having a bad day.

So according to the Karen Brigade defending this woman's behavior, the workers are just obligated to let some rude, entitled rhymes-with-witches throw a tantrum in their establishment and destroy property, then send them off with a big smile and absolutely no repercussions whatsoever, because to them being paid minimum wage means means you must forfeit all respect and dignity and let anyone spending $15 for a sandwich treat you like dirt. For decades now the motto of businesses has been "The customer is always right!" and now we're seeing the fallout of that attitude, a entire generation of Karens who think they're gods among mortals when they step into a store or restaurant. But now that we mere peasants have social media and can push back against these people somewhat, suddenly there are a million concern trolls coming out to hand-wring about how these businesses are "being too mean to these poor ladies just having a bad day uwu".

I'd just like to add that the whole "you never know what someone else is going through" thing is a two-way street. I had a customer treat me like absolute garbage once because the alarm went off as she was leaving the store and it was my job to check her items for tags. I was very polite and respectful, but she threatened to call my manager on me, and then the police (yes, I swear), then she stormed off in a big huff. Well, this just so happened to be the day after my cat of 15 years had died of kidney failure, and I was already feeling about as awful as I could possibly feel. So now I'm standing there, trying my hardest not to break down in tears. Maybe she was "having a bad day" but so was I; the difference is *I* didn't take my pain out on *her.* People who work service jobs aren't just unfeeling robots you can abuse, WE also have bad days, so maybe think of that the next time you want to use the "maybe they're going through something" excuse to defend this type of rude behavior.

Didn't anyone else notice that all the people who thought there was better way to handle this were all women, and they all say that the business should be more professional and then say that women because she may have had a bad day has the right to be disrespectful what kinda logic is that. For any kind of transaction trust and respect should be given to both parties.

Gender has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of guys that act the same way. I'm a woman and I'm the first one to go off on people if I see them act this way in public. It's just being a decent human being, nothing gender connected.

When I worked at BK any customer that cussed out one of the workers was immediately kicked out of the restaurant, store policy. Nobody working in food service, or any job really, gets paid enough to deal with that behavior.

The fact they take a stand against bad customers and protect their employees makes me respect them more, not less. I plan on going to New York soon and I have a feeling there is a deli there I might want to wait patiently for my food. Silly enough I am sure after I order it even if there is a problem we will be able to talk about it like civil humans. Whatever the reason you have for being a jerk to retail employees it is never good enough. You're NEVER allowed to make someone your human punching bag no matter how stressed you are!!!!

She damaged property and is a 'respected accountant'. If you want to label yourself and put your reputation and job out there as you have a tantrum like a two year old over a sandwich then you deserve the the karma coming your way. For those excusing her behavior as 'having a bad day', guess what? All of us do. And the 90% of us don't take it out on other people and vandalize and destroy others property. Bad days are no excuses for bad behavior to others. Grow up and act your age, not your shoe size.

First off, the person who said Gino's was bullying for calling her out on social media, get a grip! Calling a person out for behaving inappropriately in a public establishment is not bullying, its holding them accountable. Your whole argument is they are bullying for posting the incident. So, what about all the police station who post about catching criminals or county court houses who post daily court verdicts? Are they also bullies for calling out the people who behaved wrong, got caught doing it, and then posting thier fate online? Secondly, by Gino's calling her out this way, it allows her time to make right what she did wrong. Everyone has bad days, just like everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone gets a chance to correct those mistakes before law enforcement gets involved. From what I read she could be charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated harassment, and criminal mischief. Those together could land her 3 years in prison, and upwards of a $25,000 fine.

Person telling the employees they need to "contact the police" instead of using public shaming tools to prevent that behavior... why? So the police can shoot Rebecca Clark? Cause that's the reality of what calling the police in the US actually means. The likelihood of her getting shot goes way up too if she is anything other than white. Idk... being held accountable online is infinitely better than being dead.

"You're not you when you're hungry. Grab a Snickers" is the tagline for a well-known candy bar. I agree that the restaurant calling the customer out on social media was tacky,as well. Nobody has a "right" to be rude to someone else for doing their job, simply because she was told that the place was busy, and she was there creating a scene for food that was coming up in another minute, literally. She also destroyed the expensive sign and should have to pay for it to be repaired or replaced. But that's another story.

Philli Cheese steaks are GARBAGE 🗑️. yeah, it's worth a day trip if your from Jersey or the City, but honestly They don't even try with they cheese steaks. Pats OR Gino's. Stop basing your opinion on others, (especially on crappy cheese steaks wit wiz.) Think for your self. Find a Neighborhood Bodega, you may have to try a few, and get a chopped steak and cheese and onions and peppers if that is your fancy. Just like the best Mediterranean food Plates are outside of penn station for a reasonable price. Don't go to Italy for Pizza. Don't go to Philly for cheese steaks (especially Gino's or Pats. It you didn't know, they are a Philli staple and are right across the street from each other. Wonder how much they rent went up since 2019.

Just because a lady complaints about slow service...we are have that right, but don't call them a Karen. We don't have the right to vandalize anything. That is criminal. That makes her a criminal, not a Karen. There's actually nothing wrong with women defined as a Karen...and Karen's come in all colors. I believe most people like Karen's...it's how you probably hope women like moms, grandparents, aunts, etc are. But now...Karen is a word that is being overused and many very nice women are being called that but are actually something different than a Karen. There's nothing wrong with any woman who has been taken care of nicely. Those women are a good thing and they are "Karen's " but it's a good thing, not bad.

Oh hunny, making a scene or even just acting poorly towards others because you are slightly inconvenienced ABSOLUTELY is a bad thing. If you hope any family members of yours act like a Karen, you are part of the problem with this entitled behavior. I personally have openly gone off on random people for acting that way, let alone family members. That behavior is unacceptable and trying to excuse it and try to make it into a positive for change is just sad.

Accountancy isn't even a real job. It's stealing money from people who are trying to hide money from the government. Nobody would notice if accountants just evaporated into the ether. Watch society crumble though, when people involved in food production or food retail disappear. Where were the accountants when only "key workers" were allowed to go to work?

I get people can have bad days, but don't take it out on the people making your food or any sort of retailer for that matter. Especially the moment you curse them out and destroy their property. I get it too. Police probably have bigger fish to fry than $200 property damage. Restaurants run on super tight budgets so this may be them trying to recoup their loss more quickly, seeing as this could be of lower priority to law enforcement.

Id cut business with her if i heard this! Dont want some loony anger issue person handling my money !

I learned in the military that there were certain people you didn't want to p**s off. Officers, chiefs, Those who took care of you when you were sick or injured, those who could arrest you, those who decided if/when you could take liberty, those who handled your pay and those who fed you.

Having a bad day doesn’t entitle you to purposely break things. By that logic ms bad day can damage eve7 sign of every business she passes on the way back to her office?

The fact that she damaged a $200 sign is the entire point of calling her out. When you damage property your a*s needs to be thrown out.c

I'm a fast food worker, let me tell you, people like her are Everywhere. I've been with my restaurant for 7months and I believe I've had 4 shifts where we didn't encounter some snobby entitled or otherwise rude tit. Have these people not seen the movie "Waiting"

I have never seen or met this woman but I would almost be willing to bet she probably doesn't miss a meal. Seriously, if you're going to have a psychotic episode over FOOD, you've got more serious issues. Ban this woman and press charges.

Notice that all the defenders of her behavior and the ones trying to put it on Gino's are all females. Probably because they exhibit the same behavior and want to validate it.

I feel bad for everyone actually named Karen and that are kind people. These days must be awful for you. And I actually love the name myself... however if I named my daughter "Karen", she would go through hell. That's not fair, really.

I won't believe it until I see it. People make up all sorts of things online and many get duped and believe it. Then, at the bottom of the article, it admits that it is fiction.

Why is the heading "Karen Storms lnto a Restaurant" when her name was Rebecca? Just to perpetuate unfounded hate toward the Karens of the world?

New York City here. Gino's AND Pats Cheese steaks in Phillie are trash. Go to your neighborhood Bodega and get a chopped steak with cheese. period. I didn't know Gino's expanded to NYC. It's prolly not even the real Gino's. Even if it was, Gino's and Pats Cheese steaks are situated right across the street from each other in Philadelphia. They must not try for best cheese steaks. They prolly try for Most Media Attention Because Customers are entitled.

You go to GINOS!!! in NYC?????? I mean honestly the best chopped steak and cheese is from a bodega on 167 and audobon.

Why not stop calling women who behave horribly “Karen”. It’s such an insult to those of us who actually have that name and are not causing any trouble.

From a legal standpoint, they probably shouldn't have done this. She could easily sue them. She might not win, but it still takes time, money, and energy to deal with it. If she actually destroyed property, call the police and your lawyer, then shut up.

And that is exactly why we have so many idiots acting like her these days. Don't enable bad attitude and behavior, call it out.

This is what I can't stand with BP these days. It's so black and white - protagonist vs antagonist. And don't you dare say anything that would be mildly critical of the protagonist, or you'll get downvoted into oblivion.

Treating others terribly is black and white. No matter your excuse you don't get to take things out on other people. People absolutely should be shamed for that like they used to be, so we have less idiots like this running around being harmful to others.

Not to excuse her behavior but I have to wonder if perhaps she is diabetic? As a nurse I know that people on insulin may get real crazy when they need food. People are all a little different and their behavior is different. But I have seen some real outrageous behavior. People don’t surprise me much any more.

Hubby & I both are diabetic. Have dealt with low blood sugar. We never take it out on the person on other side of the counter. It's not their fault we got distracted & we forgot to eat...

Can we please stop this trend of calling every woman who behaves badly in public "Karen"? It's getting old and its usage has drifted very far from the original Karen.

Maybe I'm being naive here but I don't think its allowed to hide money from the government? I mean if it was ok to not tell the government you wouldn't have to "hide" it right?
