On March 6th, a recap video of a beautiful pup’s recovery story was shared on Instagram. The video featured bully Yoda, who was found in an awful and painful condition, yet after long-term treatment, he finally could open his beautiful eyes and embrace his new life.

As the current owner of Yoda shared, his journey started back in 2023: “He was rescued by Instituto Caramelo, which I follow on Instagram and saw the post on December 21st. I don’t know the location of the rescue, just that it was on the street.”

Now, Yoda lives with a loving family accompanied by two other dogs. Hopefully, this story will be a reminder of the importance of second chances and the boundless capacity for healing and redemption within every living being.

Yoda’s story had a sad beginning; the bully was found in terrible condition, yet he wagged his tail whenever approached by people

In an interview with Bored Panda, the current caretaker of Yoda told us a bit about himself and his family.

“We are from São Paulo, Brazil, we usually go to our country house on weekends and they always go with us.
We work in the financial market, we have a 9-year-old daughter and two adult children (first marriage) who no longer live with us. We are all dog lovers and love animals in general,” shared Mauro.

Luckily, Instituto Caramelo, a rescue center in Brazil, took Yoda in and embarked on a mission to save him

At the veterinary hospital, Yoda was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange. He had full-body hair loss, discharge, and weakness, and was severely malnourished

Mauro explained what made him and his family consider adopting Yoda.

“What made me want to adopt him was the moment of rescue. In the condition he was in, very thin, full of scabies, and with his eyes closed due to another illness, he got up and started wagging his tail at whoever was coming to take him off the street.”

He also shared what the adoption process was like: “I wouldn’t say it was difficult, it was a professional selection process. I found it very appropriate, as it reduces the chance of returns and also of adoption due to impulsiveness and emotion.”

Mauro also shared what he knew about Yoda’s recovery: “From what I found out, he has fully recovered, he needs care due to his breed, which has a lot of skin problems. So the care is the same as I already have with any of my pets.”

When he was ready to be released from the hospital, Yoda already had an adoptive family waiting for him

Mauro told us a bit about Yoda’s first day at their house: “Super calm, he is very docile and my other dogs are used to other dogs.”

The owner also shared whether they were thinking about adopting a dog before they saw Yoda’s story.
“I have a history of 4 or 5 adoptions, I’ve had dogs my whole life. For us, our family does not exist without a dog,” wrote Mauro.

Now, Yoda lives with two other dogs and shares beautiful moments with his new, loving parents, Mauro and Ana, and their 9-year-old daughter

The owner shared how Yoda is settling with two other dogs.

“We have an American bully like him, but female and they get along really well. We have a French bulldog, who is more jealous, but now they are even playing together,” wrote Mauro.

Hello Pandas! My name is Ieva, though it's often mistaken for the word 'Leva,' and in Lithuanian, it means 'loser' (insert the pain emoji). While I don't take offense if you accidentally call me a loser, I thought I'd share something interesting with you, which I also do professionally at work.Anywayyy, my favorite part here is introducing you to creative people who deserve just as much recognition as famous celebrities. Besides that, I also enjoy memes and funny, lighthearted posts, and occasionally, I find myself drawn to a bit of internet drama.

Always amazes me. A dog is homeless, at death's door, cold, miserable. And then the right human comes along and all is right with the world. Food, shelter, love, happiness. Who could resist being such a savior to a homeless animal?
