Stray Dog Can’t Stop Smiling After Rescuers Shave Off His Matted Fur
Stories about abandoned animals are always heartbreaking and the story of Holland, an adorable puppy with an unfortunate life, is one of those.
It all started on September 27th, when Holland was dropped off at an open-access shelter. Her condition was horrible. Malnourished dog was covered in matted fur and was scared for her life. But the Trio Animal Foundation came to the rescue.
They took the puppy in and started working on her recovery right away. The first step was removing the matted fur. It was not an easy task. To keep the puppy as safe as possible, Holland was sedated for a surgical groom at the vet. The team was happy to find out, that Holland didn’t have any major health issues apart from her skin condition – she had bruises, cuts, splits all over her skin.
At first, after the makeover, she had a hard time walking, but medicine and time helped with that. After weeks of medical treatments and emotional rehabilitation, Holland found her forever home.

Share on FacebookYears ago we rescued a little dog like this too. Beat with a broom because he was "a stupid puppy" by his 2nd owners who adopted him from the pound. He didn't respond to any commands so he was left to fend for himself. Matted to his skin and fed on garbage, this little mongrel came to be ours. After hours of shaving him bald we met this weird little dog who turned out to be the happiest little guy ever. Especially once we figured out he'd been raised in French by his first owners. Then we had to teach him to be bilingual and all was happily ever after! Kudos to the family who took this sweet thing in. She looks SO happy to be rid of that awfulness that was her "previous" life.
This story made me smile. Anyone who abuses animals really should be tortured. I simply don't get it.
I've always said that if I could have a super power it would be the ability to make anyone who abuses another living creature to feel the pain they caused, forever, without any relief, for the rest of their lives, and not have the ability to end their own life. I feel like that would stop a lot of abuse!
