I Photographed These Rescued Animals To Prove That They Deserve A Second Chance (21 Pics)
I volunteered for animal rescues over the years offering to take photos of the animals, helping them get adopted or sponsored. I’ve had a love for animals and photography since a young age, so what better way to combine the two than volunteering? A lot of people get emotional seeing animals in shelters, but I see second chances. Some of the dogs are surrenders or brought over from different shelters to better their chances at forever homes. All the horses shown were rescued from neglect situations or slaughter auctions; the foals shown were born at the rescue after their moms were saved.
Working around rescued animals requires extra patience and understanding. Some were abused or are afraid of their new surroundings, but seeing them finally opening up after some time and realizing they’re now safe is the best part.

I’ve always been a creative person, my mother is an artist so I’ve grown up in the artistic scene. I paint for fun and tried to take up crocheting as a covid hobby but that didn’t turn out very well. My interest in photography developed at a young age, during family gatherings I would sneak my grandfather's camera and take extreme close-ups of everyone's faces just to make myself laugh, of course, that still continues today.

I graduated to using iPhones for photos, that's when I made my Instagram account @Cprentice_photography, I was taking hundreds which turned into thousands of photos mostly of my own animals and had nothing to do with them. I saved up enough to get my own camera at 16, a Nikon D3200, and the rest was history.

Being self-taught I’m always learning through trial and error, I like to figure out things on my own which is why I’m drawn towards animals and nature, you can capture the calm and peacefulness of a horse grazing in the field or the joy of a dog running free playing with its favorite toy, there's no deadlines on hanging out with animals. I was lucky enough to meet Tamara and Clare years ago when I first started volunteering, previous workers at Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary, they helped by giving me opportunities to showcase my work with the horse sponsorship program, using some of my photos on the rescues social media and created my watermark for me.

I am very thankful towards the both of them and the experience I had there. More recently I’ve taken some photos for Loyal Rescue, one of the more rewarding moments was hearing about a dog that got adopted because of my photos, that made me realize what I was doing was actually helping and making a difference, I wasn’t just taking some photos that no one would see anymore.

These are all amazing, good job! It's so good to know they are safe now ❤
Nice photos! I think pictures like these can go a long way to convince people to adopt.
All of the animals shown are so loveable (and the photos exquisite) but I would love to see at least one cat....
I came here from a Pinterest link with a firefighter and a kitten - but no kittens in any of these...
