My name is Lucas Turnbloom and I am a cartoonist from Southern California. Most people know me from my Scholastic graphic novel series “Dream Jumper.”

In 2017, my wife and I rescued a sweet, yet rambunctious little cat. A few months later I started a webcomic loosely-based on her adventures called, “How to Cat.”

The comic was originally intended to be an inside joke for my wife and I, but she insisted that I put it on the internet and share it with the world. The strip seems to have found an audience on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter – which is incredible.

I’m so happy people have found joy in this silly little comic. I hope to continue it for years to come.

I have a cat sized dog that does this - I'm beginning to wonder if she's just wearing a very good disguise!

Someone famous (can't remember who) said cats are always on the wrong side of the door.

My cat's an indoor-only cat and still manages to do this! Any door in the house that I decide to close turns into this. I end up just picking her up and carrying her to wherever I think she'd like to go next (her food, the bathroom she loves hanging out in for some reason, etc.) or just carrying her around till she's ready to wander off and leave the door alone (she likes to "be tall" so she can see everything placed at human eye-level around the house. What? Oh of course I don't spoil her.)

We got an insert with a flap to put in our slider during the day. I left it in a bit too long, and early one evening I found a raccoon and her babies eating the kitty kibble. Not sure who was more surprised!

Our dogs also do this, you let them out then they just do nothing then goes inside then a minute later they and to get out again then if you let them outside they will bark at you to let them in them a minute later they want to go outside again!

this is my Raven one of my black cats...He fits his name and I swear just goes in to check out the hours then scratches the door to go out. 15 minutes later he is outside wanting in. I counted 32 times one day that I stupidly went along with it...lol

Our cat does this! We can let her out the front door, she comes in the back door, cat door and wants out the front again. Spoiled brat!

My dog does this as well. I think my stepdad has more physical activity watching to and fro the door to let her in and out then actually walking to useful places.

Maybe the cat just wants the door to be open

Of course not! You do get used to being watched... judged... and found wanting!

In reference to second pic, I am sure many people would have noticed that cats walk right angles to us, unlike dogs which either lead us or follow us in parallel. That's why you would bump into cat more rather than dogs, or may be its just my cat.
